  1. Nick Spencer is writing it, so that's a big reason why I'm picking it up. I read all three at once last weekend and it flowed well. I'm sticking around for the long haul. Yep, and stories like these can't really be judged by three issues, especially in the tpb era of story decompression. Quitting now is like putting a novel down early in Chapter 2. FWIW, and as a counterpoint to ToT fever, I actually liked the start Secret is off to better. I completely agree. It had a much smoother flow to it with alot of unanswered questions. Will see where issues 2 and 3 take us. And it was printed alot less and it could easily become a Pilot/TV show just as easily.
  2. Tot continues to amaze me why people are paying these prices for this book. I holding now what little I have left. Just sold a set for $85 and probably could have gotten more if I wanted. Can you imagine what prices for the variants will fetch soon? A sold a blank variant for $70+ few weeks ago. Signed are going for over $100 now and who knows how much higher the Comicspro will go. Are there really this many people that think this series will become like WD? Its not that good. Look at all these other books that have pilots, or already have a series. Are all Kirkman fans all just buying into this? I realize that the print run should matter, but look at NM 98 as an example. Unlike WD at shows people arent walking up and asking if you got any Thief of Thieves. Last two shows ALL I heard was "Got any Walking Dead?" and if they didnt the second question was "Got any Walking Dead Weekly?". I mean in the long run I am not really upset just confused and bewildereed. I still have several copies left, but man I am starting to fell bad for selling at these prices. I am not even the ebay bleed price, but its ridiculous.
  3. Not a zombie fan per say either. It just failed to grab me just like Fatale didnt either. Doesnt mean alot dont like the books I just give a book 3 or 4 issues and I stopped at 3 on both.
  4. I think Thief of Thieves will actually be a better TV show then comic. The comic is just above average in my opinion. After 3 issues I am done with it.
  5. Buy Kirkman & Buy Often How many copies of Haunt & Astounding Wolfman do you own? i've got boatloads of SuperPatriot, Brit, Capes, Tech Jacket and MTU as well. I'm gonna be filthy stinkin rich. I agree the guy don't gold. Haunt isnt burning up the charts. Too many people read these boards for advice like that to be given.
  6. Apple/Oranges there. The Vault was a mini series that had the movie rights bought after the first issue was published. It was pretty good, but it wasnt an ongoing, wasnt a TV show, and wasnt written by Kirkman. The Vault will go up again if/when the movie comes up, but not like TWD or ToT levels.
  7. Seriously. I just listed three ToT #1 first prints on ebay for $80 as a BIN/Best Offer. In less than two hours 16 people looked at the auction, I received three different offers in the $50-70 range, and finally a fourth buyer hit the BIN at my asking price. You can speculate as to the motivations I guess, but there is demand for this book... and damn, if those of us on this board do have this kind of power, I wish we'd flex it a lot more often. yeah, i've been watching ToT #1 on ebay. every copy has gone for over $20 by the end of the auction. some for far more. there's definitely a demand for the book, obviously thanks to the possible tv show. this book COULD be the next $100-200 book, but ONLY if the show gets made. of course, there's also people buying it because it's a really great title and very fun to read. Sold my blank Expo other day for $70 after having 4 offers in 24 hours. Sold it cheaper to US buyer because it was just easier less risk. Sets are selling well I dont keep one for 24 hours before it sells and the last 1-3 Set I sold had 5 offers in 24 hours before a BIN hit. All that being said ToT had little heat before the announcement. I sold every copy I had on ebay in less then 12 hours after the announcment fortunately I had some extra copies. Sets are approaching $50ish now and will continue to climb in the near future. There are no issues locally and doubt there will be for a long while. I am more then happy to let the buying frenzy continue as I bought heavy early on this book even though I didnt like as much as others. All that being said when you get 5 or 6 offers in the first 24 hours its definetly smoking.
  8. I have a copy of Saga if anyone wants to read it just PM. The deal was the same with me you gotta pass it on to someone else. Personally I thought this title started slow and issue 2 didnt give me enough to make me stay with it. I enjoyed Secret much more this week then Saga and this from a super hero guy.
  9. Wasnt impressed with Saga at all. Hope it gets better overtime. Which it will I am sure Vaughn doesnt disappoint. Enjoyed Secret much better this week.
  10. Make a prediction then whats it sell for? And yes I think it will get out hand anyway. Thats one of the few I would like to have.
  11. Hehe beat everyone to this. Dont click this link unless you want to ohhhhh and ahhhh and cry.. DONT SAY I DIDNT WARN YA
  12. Okay everyone place your bets. Will the reserve get met? Will it break 10K? Only thing hurts it is guy is new seller, but will that even matter? These are the thoughts that make the world turn. Cant wait to see the reaction on this. Whatcha think JJ? WD 1 Original Art Page
  13. I thought you were kidding until I read the bottom you are serious. Well maybe your a genius here who knows. But this doesnt sound familiar at all to another time period in comic history where sellers tried this?
  14. Can we finally declare Deadpool mania is over? I think Marvel has finally exposed him enough that backissue sales are slowing except for NM 98 which floats around $85-100 in NM. I dont see back issues sell for near what they were a year ago or two.
  15. I got it today and read it not bad. Its a little more of an adult book then I am used to reading, but sometimes thats not a bad thing. I think he had definitely got alot of people hooked on the ride for a few issues. I liked his writing style going back and forth from 1st to 3rd person. The art fit the book well nothing to brag about, but it fit the story they were telling. Who wants it next PM me with your address and all get it out this week.
  16. You are going to have that. Some sellers wont actually check going prices for books and will guess. Sellers for these books are no different from sellers for other books. Some are smart, many are stupid.
  17. Multiply what you did by across the country and across the number of like minded people and I think you'll have your answer before those books ever hit the stands. If they even blip above cover price you'd better hump that sell button faster like a boll weevil attacking on a cotton ball factory. Exactly what I was thinking. You do this before they get hot not while they are hot.
  18. Exhibit A as to why LCSs are struggling. How can you run a business and not know the market value of your product? Especially a derivative of the hottest product available... This is just poor, poor management. +1 You see this across the nation. Shops dont stay up on books that are selling well. Its why many never utilize the internet effectively.
  19. There isnt a copy to be had locally in my area in 3 shops from issues 80-94 and they had a ton at two shops. They still come in looking and leave empty handed. Two shops I talked two sell at least two complete sets of TWD trades a week currently. That right there is amazing to me. Guy in front of me today bought 3 TWD trades to try to get caught up. I said this before and I will say it again this phenomen transcends anything I have seen in comics ever in over 30+ years of reading comics.. Its going way past Valiant. Its more consistent then deaths of characters. Its the perfect storm. I dare anyone to argue otherwise. If you have high grades and want to sell the only reason you would want to wait now is for the Governor and Michonne to get more screen time. Other then that start now. Hell how much money do you need to make on a book afterall? Greed can sometimes be a nasty bed fellow.
  20. Your not thinking about this from Image's point of view. They are in a tough spot. They will increase the print run on the next several issues you can bet on that, but they wont go from 20K to 70K overnight it just wont happen even if sales indicate that they are selling out every issue. Will it get there? Probably, but by that point the show will have played out and interest will have dwindled and there you have the X-men or ASM or some of those other titles from Marvel DC. A slow steady increase is the way to go. It causes demand on back issue market which they dont care about, but its a nice by product. It stimulates 2nd prints which as well which is probably how they will go instead of a massing increase in production.
  21. You know its bad when its in another thread and not even mentioned to someone else and its hits the mark. Bazinga
  22. Sure I can do that. Its got to better then Chew.
