Strategy for managing too many comics
ThothAmon replied to ctbrian's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Sounds like it’s too late. Quicksand. -
Sellers story is laughable. If it were in my possession I’d return it tout-suite before the rest of my business practices were examined and no I wouldn’t change the title of the thread, it seems appropriate as is. Edit. Maybe Buzzetta can answer this - could a lost item really be turned around for USPS resale within a couple months of original loss?

I confused (and not just by what I was referring to in 2019 when I posted in this thread). Hate to say it, but who in their right mind would buy one of these things? I’ll stick to wondering if Eerie 2 is actually a reprint.

But it’s noooot. I guess whom ever held onto Obediah Oldbuck in 1833 would qualify. Their identity, unfortunately, has been lost to time. For our purposes, it seems the only objective way to answer this is by finding the recognized pedigree with the oldest newsstand purchase. I have it on good account that some of the earliest books in the Church collection came from back issue purchases so we need to be careful to limit it to the individuals first known newsstand comic purchase.

Billy Wright wouldn’t be a bad choice. Try to focus on the fact that he was nine when he started collecting and yes they are spectacular.

Very early fanzine magazine by a Canadian icon, Captain George. Great video to watch if you’re into early collecting. http://www.cbc.ca/player/play/1789308395

Truly blown away by my gift. Thanks so much to Toro for the pulps and Phantom Lady recreation. Already prominently displayed in my comic space. Happy and healthy New Years to my fellow boardies and their loved ones. -

Some incredible acquisitions made in 2023 in this thread. Thanks for another great thread Cat! Por moi, pickups are pretty varied. My core collecting interests made some progress with a few graded Archie’s, Detective/Batman’s, A-Man’s. Added to my Krenkel doodle collection. Other stuff just spoke to me. Here’s a sample. Mostly took the year off from selling as tuition payments ceased but plan on resuming selling off parts of my graded collection in 2024 as I have way too many comics and magazines and the silver through modern stuff doesn’t interest me as much.
