  1. Phew, had to squint myself when I reread your post. First read saw an r instead of a n!
  2. I won a few of them. Some of the early books with detached covers seemed like they went for very strong prices.
  3. http://s1308.photobucket.com/user/jmorleymun1/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsbt6lndeb.jpeg.html?o=0 This is a great thread. So many beautiful Centaurs. This is one of my best.
  4. http://i1308.photobucket.com/albums/s609/jmorleymun1/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsdbb60qo8.jpeg Not sure this is the best thread for this but while I was going through an old box of Famous Monsters of Filmland and came across this brochure/pamphlet for the very first convention in 1974. Was wondering if anyone knew any details about that con and the desirability of the item? It's two back and front pages and is on a bluish paper. The convention schedule is outlined. Thanks.
  5. You can be a bit of a hard *spoon* sometimes. Did you ever find that quote or are you still calling RMA wrong based on just memory? Because I just looked at some old pictures of myself, and what I saw was not what I remembered. The memory is not very reliable even in legal testimony. This place is what you make of it. It's just bigger. There's plenty of serious comic people discussing comics. Nope. It's smaller. And not a place to talk comics unless I wanted to sell. Most of the threads here are asking about selling their comics. Not a lot about about the comics themselves. Sad. Jim I'm relatively new around here so don't take it the wrong way when I disagree with you Jim. I find the forums very informational although it's easier to google search a topic with links to the threads than use the sites own search function. I think what you've actually identified is what happens in a well established forum. People have spent years talking with one another and have grown to have long standing good and bad relations with other forum members. The posts sometimes degenerate into sophomoric humor and ad-hominem attacks but it certainly makes it real. If you want to see how bad it can be come to the COD1 server I play on! As far when the New Mutants 98 bubble will burst? I believe this thread is about to hit 100 pages ... 'Nuff said.
  6. BA12 and can you guess the six reasons I said so? GGA stands the test of time. Besides I have enough of the others and zero BA12s. In fact, if some one wants to trade a perfect raw BA12 for a perfect either of the others pm me.
  7. Gave teen-age girls something to think about! Teen-age boys too.
  8. Yes, me too. Scenario #1 is definitely most plausible. I've never opened a CGC slab before but I'd imagine it's not an easy thing to do and then re-seal to pass off as unopened. But, Scenario #1 doesn't make sense with the book getting back out there again 2 years later. I'm with you in wondering why CGC just didn't take the book back instead of leaving it out there. Seems it would open CGC up to yet another buyer who'd need to be "compensated" for buying it. Unless, CGC did take it back but someone "inside" did some shady stuff. This is why I take high-res scans of EVERYTHING I send to CGC (both front, back, inside). Whatever would help prove that what I sent in didn't actually come back. TMNT #1 is a highly sought-after book...and there are too many similar copies out there that can substitute for someone that isn't paying attention. If what your fearing ever were proven to actually have happened it would end CGC. Something that has crossed my mind with other dealers but with CGC I think it's just paranoia.
  9. Unbelievable prices. I was watching them all but could only admire them digitally as the prices went up up and away.
  10. Indeed, and I was the one that won it Good taste! What type of motorcycle is it? I know that the guys in American Pickers would know.
  11. Sorry I don't have the link but check out the Film Fun magazine with the Bolles motorcycle cover that just sold in the Heritage auction. Sweet.
  12. I stopped buying/using the Overstreet guide long ago as GPA, Heritage sales and ebay sales provide a much more accurate reflection of current liquid pricing. Also, I don't believe Overstreet is the pre-eminent reference guide any longer. In addition to the above, there is the CGC Census data, Gerber guides and good old Google. I do miss the market perceptions of the dealers but as they were often talking their own book my own perceptions are probably as accurate!
  13. Sell only CGC books with a no returns policy. You should hear my wife after a high ticket book is delivered.
  14. Lots of scammers in this world. As Uncle Ronnie used to say "trust but verify".
  15. Great pulps all around and hoard is the right word for it. Just picked up the 10/33 Batwoman Weird Tales off of ebay. Doesn't quite make up for the super high grade one I sold on ebay circa 1998.
  16. Hope it works out Twisted. Hope Karma didn't catch up with you on the name choice!
  17. CGC is like Clint Eastwood, they don't much like stains.
  18. Shioot! Never had that happen to me before on Ebay. Thanks for the warning.
  19. Are you serious about the hacked account? With Paypal aren't you protected even if it was hacked? I was bidding on it!
