  1. Even the 80’s women were tougher than the modern male action hero.
  2. Brie Larson aside, they could have replaced her with my favorite actress and the movie would still suck.
  3. If Harrison Ford can still Indy it up at 80, I think Gibson should give us one more as well. Old Man Max. Miffed Max?
  4. Is Max even in this prequel? Why have Mad Max in the title at all then? I loved Fury Road and wanted a proper sequel with Hardy moving on through the wastelands.
  5. And now he’s doing Fletch. Not sure how I feel about that with the first movie being so near and dear to my heart. I hope he pulls it off.
  6. Just finished watching Beast and you were correct. It was terrible. Locations were great but the story and scenarios were just bad. So disappointed as I love movies like Jaws, Ghost and the Darkness, Orca, The Edge etc.
  7. I still haven’t watched this. I really liked Ragnarok so I’ll probably enjoy this too?
  8. On the other side, I can’t read novels on my iPad. So it hasn’t replaced my Kindle Oasis. The Kindle is easy on the eyes and I can read outside in bright sunlight with no screen glare.
  9. I have, and you can make adjustments on certain app platforms like go from panel to panel or turn your iPad vertically so you have one large page in view but I prefer having the full comic open so you can see both pages as if you were holding a physical copy. It is nearly a perfect fit. Compared to the printed art, I think the colors look better when backlit. They are more vibrant and pop. Plus I can adjust the lighting. Not to mention I can carry quite a few series with 2TB of space.
  10. Actually ZSJL fits on my 13 inch iPad screen nearly edge to edge. The perfect traveling companion.

    Mike

Interesting. Sorry Iron Mike, I still gotta watch it. I paid 12 bucks for one year of hulu so I gotta get my moneys worth.
  12. I remember reading a post or two here about a year ago saying they didn’t think this movie would do well because it would only appeal to those with nostalgia for the original. That post is probably deleted by now. In some ways this movie has succeeded like Fury Road has. A very basic story which has little to no role in the films success. Both movies were carried by its presentation, performances and some nostalgia. True popcorn flicks.
  13. Does anyone here really care “what it would have made” if released in theaters? It did well for the streamer and we got a fun little flick that was better than the last one. Unbunch your panties.

Have you seen Mike on Hulu yet? I’m going to start that series soon.

  16. I’ll add that you could cut this down to a 30 minute segment and throw it into one of Stephen Kings’s Creepshow anthologies. It could also be a perfect one hour episode of Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits. And Peele was involved in the new Twilight Zone which has me thinking maybe this was developed for that and he decided to expand it into a full length feature.
  17. I love how small the original Clerks is. Just has a really comfortable feel that has me revisiting it from time to time. I’ve never revisited Clerks 2.
  18. This was not a masterpiece as I’ve read here and there. I didn’t think the themes or symbolism were deep at all. The acting was well done by most of the cast with the leads stealing it. I loved the reveal but they could have done more with it. The lead-up to the finale with the inflatable men in the field had that fun Jaws “chasing the barrels” vibe. Now that I think about it, the last half hour was Jaws. This is a weird one for me. I think.. I really liked it? I just kept wanting it to go in certain directions it never went. This will be a good repeat viewing for me. I’d say the concept for Nope is dope.
  19. Rogue One was great. Even with the imperfect CGI at the end which will get Lucafied later. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was cleaned up a bit for its re-release.
  20. I was hoping the meeting went more like this.
  21. Brandons Crow will always be a classic but there was a lot left out from the GN. I’m hoping this reboot gives us more from the comic. A somber drama/horror. But I’m not feeling it because of the director they chose. Someone who has only directed two bad movies. G. del Toro would have been my choice for the reboot.
