  1. Don’t kid yourself, it’s Black Widow, it’s no Top Gun or Dune or No Time to Die. I really want to see it, but I’m good with buying it on iTunes. Not a must-see on the big screen. Even the dumb Godzilla movie is bringing it in and it’s only been a week. It will most likely end as the highest grossing movie during the pandemic year. Black Widow missed that boat.
  2. Even though Namor’s not Asian, I guess he has been drawn with Asian-like features. I’d choose Kim over Yuen.
  3. Might end up like the 2005 King Kong where you got an extended version for home release.
  4. Yes, Raya is available for purchase on both Amazon and iTunes right now. But not available to Disney+ subscribers like me unless I pay the $29.99 for an early unlock of it. I have two daughters that want to see it so I’ll buy it on iTunes tonight. It’s the same price.
  5. Black Widow will be $29.99 with “Premiere Access” on Disney+ and available to the regular cheap Disney+ subscribers at no extra charge two months later.Don’t pay the 30 bucks on Disney as you will not own the movie. It will be available for purchase at $29.99 on Amazon and iTunes soon after the Disney premiere.
  6. I was looking forward to this one. I thought they started making this already. Hopefully it gets a green light later.
  7. I thought this was The Trench which is an upcoming sequel to The Meg. Two great novels but the first movie was horrible. I’m sure the second won’t be much better.
  8. I thought that hyperloop tunnel went from the US to Hong Kong right through the center of the planet. With the hollow Earth being the exact center. And then later Godzilla actually burns a new tunnel from Hong Kong to the Hollow Earth. No elaboration is made on how the hyperloop was created. Unless I missed it.
  9. For starters, the 2014 Godzilla had a better story. The humans were at the forefront but that was also the movies major complaint. Not enough Godzilla. Great performance by Brian Cranston is overlooked. Now we have more monster battles and a lighter tone with the human characters being either too jokey or overly serious.
  10. Here’s my two pesos. Story was dumb, come on, there’s been better stories with these characters in the past. It can be done. Was barely hanging on for the first hour. Even the first encounter/fight was just ok. Gripes. The Hollow World could have filled 30 - 45 minutes of run time with the team exploring it and getting into shenanigans. Technical gripe. Why is it that Godzilla was pretty much flawless in movement but Kong looked like they just skipped the motion capture? He was herky-jerky at times and almost had a stop-motion feel in a few scenes. And yet he looked amazing, especially his hair during close-ups. His movement and CGI was uneven in the film. Like they cut the budget or were coming up on a deadline to finish scenes. Here’s my review in time stamps: Opening to 1:22 1:22 to 1:32 Kong emerges from the tunnel into Hong Kong. 2nd battle. Pretty good fight. They have my attention now. 1:32 to 1:42 You-know-who enters the scene and wow, I wish I was watching this in IMAX. Dumb movie is now worth the price of admission. Would have been a hundred times better had I NOT known about third character. Kind of like how BvS would have benefited from not showing Doomsday in the trailer. Try not to pay attention to the story and just watch this for the 20 minutes I noted.
  11. Just downloaded it on the HBO app as streaming is hit or miss out here. Going to start it in a few minutes. I’m also doing laundry so this better be more fun than that.
  12. Too tired to break it up further but I think most of us are in agreement with the singing. Aquaman should of yelled “SHUT UUUP!” as he waded into the water. Like he’s tired of hearing it every single time he visits. I did not need that Epilogue at all. Should have shaved that off and added it as an extra scene to watch in Special Features. It’s a cool scene that didn’t need to be tacked on to the end. End it with Superman running down the alley opening his shirt. All in all there’s a perfect 3.5 hour movie in there which I loved.
  13. But then again, if it were Amber Heard that left her shirt there as she returned to the ocean I’d be sniffing.
  14. There is an excellent 3.5 hour movie in there after we axe the Epilogue and a few other select scenes. I’m looking at you creepy shirt sniffer.
  15. I thought it was Black Widow that was supposed to save the theater industry.
  16. I thought she said “smooching.” 😮 Never really been a fan of the Harley character but that was GD adorable when she said she would go back in so they could rescue her.
  17. I agree with all your points. I even agree that PT Anderson’s films can be pretentious but I still enjoy them. Especially Punch Drunk Love. Scorsese is old school and while I don’t agree with him judging movies he may not have seen, I agree that men/women in tights flicks are not truly cinema. They are popcorn flicks, some with more depth than others. Marvel, DC, Transformers, Fast and Furious etc. But the definition of cinema is broadening so who knows what these will be considered in a few decades. I don’t really care, I love watching Goodfellas over and over as much as The Dark Knight and Winter Soldier.
  18. Damn, I’ll have to wait to see this version on a better screen as it’s not some hack job flipping a movie in color to black and white. Here’s a great article to check out. The Mist is a perfect example of a superior and scarier version. https://filmschoolrejects.com/logan-noir-brief-history-black-white-cut/
  19. As Rip pointed out in the JL thread, some digital service platforms have quietly upgraded their copies of BVS Ultimate to the updated BVS Ultimate IMAX editions. I had purchased BVS on iTunes years ago and I just checked my digital copy today. Despite iTunes not updating the description at all (still states widescreen) I can verify it’s the new version and perfect companion piece to ZSJL now. At no extra charge. By the way, for some reason I always thought that when widescreen was converted to the IMAX aspect ratio, you got more on the top and bottom and lost the left and right edge. That’s not really the case at all. You may get the black bars on the left and right on your widescreen HDTV but you are still getting a more complete picture in that squarish package.
  20. Just to piggyback off my last post, I know there’s an argument about whether or not we really “own” digital copies of movies. I can only share a couple of personal experiences. I was worried when Amazon once reached out and literally deleted an entire book off my Kindle and refunded the credit back into my account. I had no control as long as I was connected online. After that I got paranoid and put my Kindle into airplane mode until I finished reading everything on it. But after almost 15 years and three different Kindles, I had only lost one book out of hundreds. As for my movie library, I have used iTunes since 2006. I save all the movies I would like in my want list and I buy them when they hit those weekly sales at $4.99. Sometimes I wait up to a year before it drops to 9.99 or 7.99 or 4.99. They drop and then go back up. MANY movies I purchased are no longer available to buy on iTunes for whatever reason. They were pulled. But they are all still in my library available to download or stream. I have never lost a single purchase. I get an email confirmation of each transaction of course and I never delete those in the event something drops off my collection. The terms state I have either purchased or rented the movie.
