  1. After I started collecting OA last month, as opposed to the previous 5 years where I only bought two pieces in total , I'm trying to buy a page a month this time... This is the page I bought last month, (arrived a few days ago) Even when I was a kid, I always was more interested in story rather than art, and there were only a handful of artists I would recognise by their style alone...Sal Buscema was always one of those. Don't like everything he did, but when I saw this action page with the typical "Sal Buscema Hulk face" I just had to go for it
  2. Kudos to the following people for easy transactions, proper grading and excellent packing... cd4ever Anfield Fox rza808 Aces ubermenschen001 bkfire27 parlourguy
  3. Well I needed to put somebody there and since you posted your picture in another thread, I borrowed your image. I promise to put it back. Oh, I'm sorry. Because you are the biggest Greggy fan and I felt you deserved to be the first in line.
  4. I'm from the picture-is-worth-a-1000-words school...
  5. When he sold me my AF15 it came from Louisiana... he also told me he was painter, so working in construction is probably true
  6. Thanks Earl, here's another part of the cabinet
  7. Nice set-up Chromium! I like the labels on the holders. Well organized by the looks of it as well. I give it... (thumbs u (thumbs u Keep 'em coming folks! John thanks man, here' s close-up of the labels
  8. Well actually mine is full now When I first had it made I thought I went overboard and would never get it full...well I did, and then some..had I known the madness would consume me this much, I might have gone for an even bigger unit This picture shows about half the setup, I can't step away far enough to to get the entire thing in one shot Looks really nice, can't wait to see how it looks in your son' room. My son is 6 and has a Disney themed room, but I'm hoping in a few years time he'll go Marvel
  9. Sure, but that's likely due to the upgraded hardware and clean install, as I've rarely seen a new software revision that actually runs faster on the same hardware base. You also forgot to mention it could also be because a lot less members are online now, due to the shock of having to navigate through unknown waters  But seriously, yes clean install and hardware upgrade are prolly the main reason, but they did come with the new look, so I'm putting it all in one pot here and maybe coming down with a case of Pollyannaism
  10. It loads a lot faster than the previous incarnation. I know in this day and age when the difference between fast and slow is only 2-3 seconds it may be a moot point. But the (old) boards had become one of the slowest loading sites I visited on a regular basis
  11. No that much...as I used just an everyday printer some of the 36 pages weren't printed perfectly straight, meaning some of the pages didn't line up perfectly. If there were large areas of black that got seperated by the pages I had to colour (blacken) the white areas so it all looked ok. Spent maybe 45 minutes touching up various parts. A little line here, a few dots there... I can imagine if you did a full colour version it would be a lot more work, plus how would you touch up some of the more exotic colours ?
  12. Ok, so it's not my comics room, but I've shown that one enough already...but it has a comic theme, so bear with me Last year I finished my little home theater and decided to only use three colors in the entire room. White, black and red. The room is pitch black most of the time as I only use it to watch movies on a giant screen and play Xbox. Now the last year it's become more and more the place where I also flop down on the couch (red of course) to read a book and basically hide from the rest of the world. So after a while those all white walls (+ all white ceiling) started to look "too clean" and I wanted to ad something. First idea was to get a movie themed poster, but all the ones I liked were done to death, plus I wanted to stay with the black/white/red pattern. So I chose a Spider-man cover. I had a scan from the original cover art (which I believe a forumite owns), cleaned it up in Photoshop, coloured the title red and then blew up the entire piece using pixel magnification to get a Lichtenstein effect. I then had to print it out on my trusty deskjet printer, 36 pages and three cartridges later I was left with a lot of grainy pages. Spent a few days cutting everything, matchting everything up and then colouring in the mistakes (still not perfect). I then glued everything together and put it up on the wall. It's not perfect, but I'm still amazed what's possible these days with just a basic knowlege of Photoshop and a $50 printer it's pretty big, I'm 6ft 2 and it's taller than me, here's the original comic for reference
  13. Sounds like you are collecting with the intention of selling them again one day..which is kinda sad as it takes the fun out of it... The day my collecting choices are determined with the amount of money I would get for them if I were to sell, is the day I stop collecting
  14. I love the WC....soccer, guitars, global warming, gold prices and cool photographs.... What's not to like
  15. baby steps Once you cross a bridge, you don't look back and then you cross a bigger bridge etc... After a few bridges you start thinking about those early bridges and how carefully you crossed them
  16. 100%. I don't start collecting a title until I know I can get each and every issue and don't stop till I have the complete series. I've completed each and every series I've collected (or am busy completing them) The hard one will be Batman...and that's the reason I'll never buy a single Tec or Action issue...no reason in fooling myself
