  1. This should be stickeid to the top of General.

I think there should be one instructional thread stickied to the top of General with links to the other threads (search, packaging etc) in the instructional thread...otherwise General would start on page 3 because of all the stickied threads.

    (thumbs u

Any chance of this mods? :wishluck:

Yes, they could get rid of the "So what do you look like" thread and the 2009 1 to 365 thread, considering 2009 is nearly six months gone now.

Heaven forbid there be something actually useful up there. Other than the packing thread I mean.

  2. It seems perfect because, according to this thread the book was sold to Bat-Man for $100 less than what Matt was going to pay, so if Bat-Man sold it to Matt at the original price he would get $100 for his trouble.

And that's why that it sold for less seems so dubious.

Bat-Man has a chance to gain tons of good will here, be the hero, gain good karma - and he has another copy of the book anyway - AND make $100 in the process...

Not to mention kill this thread.

    Just seems a bit :screwy:

Somebody (and not Matt) is likely fudging the facts a little bit...

  3. Matt doesn't know his way around these boards but I'll direct him to the probation thread. The more I look at this, the more I think that it's deserved. If not for this kind of problem than what is the probation thread good for? So i'm starting to see that point.

Yes, I think it's appropriate, and in the best interests of the community. If the seller had personal issues, perhaps his judgement was clouded, but that gives nobody the right to abandon ethics and fairness. He reneged on a done deal, with absolutely no hint that the buyer was going to default. That's about as bad as it gets for a seller's rep.

Seriously, if Comicsupply or some other past notorious character on here had done this, they wouldn't only be on the probation list and hall of shame, but the calls for their banning would be deafening.

  4. [quote name=rockman2008A deal is a deal 2c [/quote]This goes back to why he sold to bat-man over mt1000. The former paid all in one shot compared to Matt who was planning on dividing time payments into who knows how long (? it's still unclear the time line agreed between mt1000 and yannis).

According to Dan, they were actually going to drive over there, pick the book up in person and finalize the deal on Saturday.

    DRX

Which would you prefer? Payment by electronic means that's guaranteed all at once.

Or would you rather wait for some stranger who may or may not show up with his friend at your door step after a four-hour drive? And if they do show up, wouldn't you be concerned about the possibility of being beaten up and robbed? The logistics for setting this up is a pain compared to the ease of a quick electronic payment. No?

This is the biggest load of BS ever. Matt got screwed plain and simple. If he was that concerned he could have insisted on a paypal payment first and met for then met for the pick-up.

I feel bad that Yannis is dealing with his personal situation but he didn't even give Matt the courtesy/opportunity to pay up first.

 this whole thing just reeks of bad business. Probation list or not, you can scratch one buyer off my list of people who I'll deal with.

Yes. From what we've heard so far, I see little to support the seller. Even if the sale was for less money (and I'm skeptical about that), a deal is a deal.

What was done (from what we know to date) was unethical. Period.

My sympathies for the seller's personal situation, but that doesn't give anybody a suspension from ethics, and I don't see how that really factors in at all.

  5. The problem is with the spring and summer coming up, the room is bound to increase in temperature. Not all that humid as I recall in years past, but certainly above what would be considered comfortable room temperature. I could easily install an air conditioner, but wouldn't plan on having it running 24/7. My other concern is that I wouldn't want the room temperature to rise and drop too much as I know that is not good for comics either.

This is gonna sound snarky but it's not. You must be living in a different Connecticut than I've lived in all my life. It gets humid as HELL here in the summer. No, not Florida humid or Louisiana humid but still pretty damn humid.

    Yep, I can confirm that.

  6. I think the rule should stay at 30 days, but a bylaw should be added that if a buyer flat out refuses payment, he can be added immediately after being outed.

Or after about 2 weeks for a seller when the books don't arrive and they can't provide tracking info and/or don't reply to PMs.
