  1.

We all have been hoping to see a cameo, or the introduction of some characters from the marvel universe, but it has dawned on me that we are extremely unlikely to see anything more than we already have due to MOvies. Marvel will reserve all of their characters for Movies instead of TV.

    Exactly.

They want to keep the movies special, an event. This series is meant to provide a sort of context.

  2. Thomas recently bought two pretty big books from me and paid quickly by postal money order. He was also very patient as the postal service caused delays in receiving the funds.

    Excellent transaction (thumbs u

  3. Starting a fairly large sales thread tomorrow (Friday) night, about 7:30 ET; first of four sessions.

About 270 + books total, 65 tomorrow. Almost all raw, half a dozen slabs.

    About 40% are Spideys. Lots of keys spread throughout the four sessions: FF 52, DD 131, 158, 168, CA 117, ASM 33, 50, 121,122, 129, X-Men 266, Hulk 4,5, 340. Lots of DDs and JIMs/Thors spread throughout.

    Hope to see you!

  4. 18-12, Does Not Suck is winning.

    ;)

Looks like the poll doesnt match up to the posts.

24-17 now in favor of Does Not Suck. Still, considering that we're all comic guys here, these are HORRIBLE numbers. If comic guys are roughly only 3 to 2 in favor of this show, that cannot bode well for it. 2c

Actually, I think the population here would tend to be more critical and find more things to carp at than the general population.

  5. I'm actually surprised to find so many people who think it was boring. It sounds like some people wanted to have a 42 minute 80 million dollar movie.

I thought it was a solid first episode that established the characters, organization, villains, and gadgetry pretty well. I think part of a superspy TV show is that things are allowed to play out to build suspense, create tension and introduce elements that dictate that things are really deeper than what they appear. There was a fight scene, an explosion and superhero action within the first few minutes of the episode. I'm not sure what everyone was expecting, but for me - it hit the things it needed to hit.

This is what I think caused the major disappointment amongst the fans. The majority thought it be about Marvel super heroes, but the last time I looked it was called Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. When we read S.H.I.E.L.D. the comic book what did we get?

We got a spy comic book that really had not many super heroes in it, so maybe when we watch a TV show called Agents of SHIELD, maybe we should expect a show kind of like James Bond and spies, and not superheroes?

So in conclusion the majority of the people thought they were getting a superhero show, but instead got a good superspy drama.

    That`s my take on it.

    Thoughts?

My problem with it is that it's just a bad show. SHIELD logos or no, it's still a poorly acted and terribly produced show. I'll give it a couple episodes then I am likely out. I enjoy comics, I like marvel, but that doesn't instantly mean it's going to be a worthwhile show or change the apparent fact that this is not a good program. That's like saying the CFL kicks just because the NFL is awesome...

The acting was good, as was the production.

Not sure what you were watching.

I realized a long time ago that many people here are very knowledgeable and insightful regarding comic books, but regarding film and acting...not so much...

Interesting... he is from Scotland and she is from northern England.

    A shame about their accents...

Perhaps they are better suited to Downton Abbey. Their accents are horrible. UNLESS YOR A GIT FRIM BEK OON DE OLDE NAYBEERHUD EW RIGHT LERVES WIT MAE KNOCK DAN, OI GUVNAH.

I couldn't translate past "neighborhood" lol

That's pretty much what I'm thinking.

I don't know what people were expecting or wanted.

  8. Interesting article on the Galactus and Silver Surfer movie rights (someone asked via PM).

Could the real Galactus turn up in one of Marvel's upcoming movies?

As of 8/6/12, Fox Studios owned the movie rights to both characters, most probably tied in with the Fantastic Four franchise.

saying that Fox is in no hurry to give away Galactus, who's a "cornerstone" villain for the Fantastic Four.

This line from that article makes me :pullhair:

If those I*diots at Fox thought he was such a key character why did they replace him with a cloud???
