  1. Avatar was/is an overhyped and overrated movie based much more on a fad (3D) than originality. And an old fad at that. With technology it was just a better executed fad.
  2. I've been with them for several years. They use shrink wrap and rubber bands, and the books have been in excellent condition. Haven't seen a problem here.
  3. I'd like to say I'm excited, but I'd be lying. I just don't understand the concept of doing a prequel to a story that isn't even finished.
  4. I think you're touching on the essence of the upset. This story has always been about not getting what we want - or what we think we want, but the story resonates and haunts more in the end. This was such a complicated story, with so many characters that you had to know on some level you wouldn't be happy about some of the outcomes. Like life. Even though it's simplistic, there is merit that the ending was rushed. They needed the seven or so episodes that would have made for two normal seasons to better found some characters motivations, set up some of the more improbable happenings. But at the end, everything would have been as it turned out. And we wouldn't be happy with some of it,
  5. The only thing that I can see is that the empty chairs are more or less angled toward the head, making him the center of attention. He moves them to point towards each other, maybe making it more of a "we" atmosphere, and not expect him to have all the answers.
  6. He's the better actor IMO. Never could see what people see in Howard.
  7. In the previous scene it looked like there were two or three on the table ready to go (by raven presumably). In the scene where he burns the one he's writing, they're gone.
  8. "Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes." This is a typical comment from George Martin. Clear as mud.
  9. Cool. I love visual references and foreshadowings like that. The show generally did a good job of it; one miss was when Jamie pushed Bran out of the window. It should have been with the hand that was later cut off.
  10. Just an aside, even though she went off the deep end, I find myself sorry for and missing Dany. She's a tragic figure, as I see it was consumed with something akin to a disease. At the end, I even thought maybe she was thankful for Jon "saving" her in a sense.
  11. I think maybe it's not quite the same thing. The night watch stabbed Jon because they felt Jon was treasonous with the enemy. Jon stabs Dany because he fears what she will do in the future. I think Drogon returned with her to their place of birth in Essos and will cremate her there...and then fly off into legend.
  12. I think Drogon just recognized that Dany's obsession with the the throne was her downfall. He blamed the throne, and the Seven Kingdoms for her corruption, and not Jon for killing her. Dragons are supposed to be very intelligent, and understand humans. Tyrion mentioned this when he freed them earlier.
  13. It would have to be with new writers, and about a half a dozen more episodes than Season 8 had.
  14. I mostly agree too. I think people have a hard time separating what just didn't go the way they hoped with bad storytelling. This was never going to have a happy ending. If you hadn't realized that, you haven't been paying attention.
  15. I know I'm in a minority on this, but I think Dany's turn was hinted at during the entire run, in fact screamed at times. The reaction to her brother's death, the crucifying of the masters, the burning of the Tully's, the lack of a single instance where she actually heeded somebody's advice. After losing Jorah, two dragons (her children), and Missandea, she went over the edge. The problem was in the execution. After the victory of the Night's King we really needed a full season to build up to this next stage, not two episodes. It was rushed. The same with the Cersei/Jamie issue. I think it was entirely in character for him to return to Cersei at the end, but the way it was executed made it seem to ring falsely.
  16. I meant out away from the camera, in depth. There looks to be about 20 on the stairs alone, and the end of the row(s) seem a long way out there to me. Could be close to 150 in each row. It depends how you interpret the depth.
  17. The 32 rows looks about right, but I think there are more than 50 in each row. It looks like those columns go out for a good ways, over a football field's length. There could be about 5,000 in that shot.
  18. This made me think...isn't Jon actually a cousin to Arya? (And Sansa and Bran for that matter).
  19. Well. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. Here's a theory. Let's just mangle the heck out of the ending, so people will have interest in George's books when they come out years from now to see how it should have been handled.
