Sweet. Key Collector is still calling this a cameo, but the sequence he's in is multiple pages, so I think it's fine to call it a full appearance. Ebon is teased in issue 6 of Season One, but it's basically just his voice in the shadows. Still a good pickup though, since I'm sure there are fewer of those than Shadows of Dakota #1.
Hey, thanks Yeah, that was my justification too, and not sure why it's classed as his 2nd cameo appearance - never heard of a second cameo appearance in comics before - due to the amount of panels, and that he's physically present as oppose to #6 which you suggested ~

Spoiler
Static: Shadows Of Dakota [Coipel Foil] #1:
- 1st appearance of Ebon in comics.
- Nikolas Draper-Ivey and Vita Ayala story.
- Nikolas Draper-Ivey art.
- Olivier Coipel cover.

I was wondering what grade do you think this is? Would this benefit from a clean and a press? Would that increase the grade?
All comments are welcomed! Thanks!

I think the only issue of Heroes that had been slabbed before my submission was issue 1. My long-term goal is to get the original line in 9.6 or better. I've got a lot of the tough books out of the way already. Just need to go through the rest of my raw collection for candidates on all of the earlier issues.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that Static book is the regular Coipel variant, not the foil, correct?
Woah that's great! WOOHOO! Best of luck with that ~
The regular version at the moment ~

Is your badge still attached?
On 7/6/2023 at 7:25 PM, harbourhow said:If the badge has unattached from cover, should that not lower the grade?
That's not my copy, but one that was listed on eBay last year as I used the image as I wished to contact CGC about submitting my copies of the issue to grade ~
You'd have to ask CGC that, but if it's without the badge at all that'd be a green label ~ But I guess - to answer your question - it would depend on the damage

Awsome copy of a big Superman key! I wouldn’t touch it. I have a beater copy bought to read the Mxyzptlk story. Fun story.
Thanks a lot but didn't realise it was a big Superman key, Robot Man ~ I guess the fear was also if I resubmitted it they'd see it as trimmed as opposed to a mis-cut, given that the book was encapsulated in 2004 ~

My most expensive purchase to date: Superman #30 (1944) (paying a little above the Overstreet price) -- surpassing Static #1 (Platinum) and Miracleman #1 (Gold edition) ~ I'm not awfully into Superman comics, per se, but I've always been intrigued by Mister Mxyzptlk ~ Not sure whether a clean and a press would even be worth it in this case, as I wouldn't wish to jinx the 8.0
Just curious whether white pages are common for a 40's comic?

I can't find examples of slabbed versions of this book, probably b/c there are only 3 graded copies in the world. A lot of the UK stuff came with gifts, and the CGC label says it came with a badged taped to the front. It looks attached, so I wouldn't mess with it. Even if the tape was a defect (in this case I don't think it is), it would be a zero sum game to remove it b/c you'd likely create a tape pull/leave behind residue in the process. It also looks like some The other UK gifts (like a mask & boomerang with Captain Britain 1 & 2 respectively) if they aren't there, get a qualified labels. To me, this is a 7.0/7.5 as-is b/c of the big corner bend. That might be pressable, but having the badge attached will make that harder (impossible?). Depending on what the badge is made of, a good presser might have a technique to work around the badge. I know they make little card frames so they can press things with inserts without pressing the shape of the insert into the entire book. I'm going to tag @joeypost for comment, b/c I could be talking out of my backside on this.
If that's foxing on the white text and whatnot, I lower my initial offered grade by 1.0

I would ask them.

I am waiting until CGC gets their stuff together before I attempt any re-holder submissions.
Yeah to be honest
On 6/30/2023 at 3:43 PM, Sauce Dog said:If a press won't benefit it, why exactly are you wanting to get it re-holdered? Is it just OCD with it being in an 'old' slab? I don't see a point with paying an waiting for it otherwise.
Well it's a bit of what @Black_Adam said below, coupled with the fact isn't it recommended to reholder every 7-10 years?
On 6/30/2023 at 4:14 PM, Black_Adam said:One reason to re-holder the comic could be concern over the micro chamber paper. CGC originally put micro chamber paper between the first page and the front cover and the last page and the front cover. In many instances, this placement of the micro chamber paper was believed to be reacting with some front covers and causing them to turn transparent. I believe (been a while since I have cracked a comic out) CGC now places the micro chamber paper a few pages in to avoid this.
That's the issue I was referring to, though I didn't know about the micro chamber paper changes :O

A few additions I wanted to post -- the last comic been a rather special one, too

The worry, I guess, that I have is that this book was encapsulated in 2004 coupled with: a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush -- would potential damage occur based on the grader notes or even a lower grade been awarded? Or would more potential damage occur if I don't reholder it? Not sure if a clean and a press would be suited given the grader notes or whether a miscut could be misconstrued as an act of trimming given possible changes with CGC in the past 19 years?

I was wondering what grade do you think this is? There's one rusted staple and some yellowing/tanning throughout. Would this benefit from a clean and a press? Would that increase the grade?

I think people are waking up to this fact, a CGC 9.6 newsstand edition of Static 1 just sold on eBay for $400. It would be interesting to see what a 9.8 would sell for.
Interesting :O

Well, at least this one isn't full of lies (yet).

Eeeeeek :(

5.0 VERY GOOD/FINE (VG/FN): Back to Top
An above-average but well used comic book. An accumulation of bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor to moderate cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases and/or dimples. Inks have moderate to low reflectivity. Blunted corners are increasingly common, as is minor to moderate staining, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor to moderate spine roll is allowed. A spine split of up to 1/2" may be present. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and minor stress lines may also be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown with no signs of brittleness. Centerfold may be loose. Minor interior tears may also be present. Thanks a lot! Would a clean and a press help at all?

I was curious whether there are fakes of Shonen Weekly 1999 #43 -- the first Naruto story?
I bought Naruto's first appearance - technically speaking - from 1997 Akamaru Jump but I feel a tad bit confident with that due to its rarity and the fact it has a poster attached inside ~
