  1. At this point slabbing doesn't even seem necessary for the speculators, ebay listings "reasonably" priced getting hit ! Not sure what the ceiling will be on this, looks sold out everywhere but Amazon, where it has "Best Seller" status.
  2. Indeed, used to be the price of IH 181 once upon a time, as well. All gotta start somewhere, right? Gotta get lucky to be anointed. : ) She's on the right track and compelling in all the right ways, methinks.
  3. Bingo, that won't cut it. I could have self-published Harry Potter (and gotten my arse sued), wouldn't count .. This doesn't count either. This is just a random sketch in a pin-up/sketch book from what I can see. No story, no appearance. How it's labeled by a grading company is also completely irrelevant. Cheerios aaaaaand emphatically Disagreed. A pedigree, a classic cover etc. etc. as designated by CGC carries more weight on the market than your or my opinions. End of the day, a far better cause than this quibbling.

  5. The HP is a full self-contained work and not a little cameo, so I am almost positive this will qualify as 1st app. NYX #3 is CGC 1st app. of X-23 for one full page panel. There's nothing else to call it, really. As for it selling out... yup, it's going fast. Isn't it just one illustration, no story? Same billing as every other work in it. There is art, there is text (Rowling's). If CGC designated "1st stories" rather than 1st apps., would give pause. You donate to a good cause and you get a piece of history. I'm not going to obsess over the particulars... +1 It's a cameo at best. There is not context for a story to be associated with it. You can't really compare it to many other appearances because they are part of a story. I'm just stating that if people are only buying these to have them slabbed, you may not get what you are hoping for. On the contrary. A cameo typically involves a small panel, often obscured in some fashion, that is part of a much larger story. A cameo character also doesn't do much if anything significant. None of this applies here.
  6. Sartre... these are some obscene books... And by that, I mean obscenely GOOD
  7. CGC 9.6 blue breached the 570 point in auction...
  8. Pretty awesome turnaround times. New slabs quicker, or more staffing?

  12. Agreed. Also, it's 144-pager, meaning CGC can slab and do the 1st app. honors.
  13. I was in Vegas, btwn spending a couple hundred on what is a charitable cause vs. blowing it like the rest of my trip funds on poker/blackjack, was an easy choice. If HP some day (could be a year or two or decades from now) gets a successful regular comic series, this will really blow up. Otherwise, depends on the print run. For $10 a pop, 1st app. of a super established cultural phenomenon sporting an expanding universe (e.g. Fantastic Beasts)... very low risk + high reward potential. Also, next generation already hooked, check.
  14. It'll be a page -- all of the works inside are 1-2 pages in length. Jim Lee is the biggest name artist, and he was assigned HP. I prefer it this way with respect to 1st app.
  15. Happy to see this thread delivering in every whichway ! : )
  16. Obvious difference being, 12+ years since her debut she is doing better than ever...
  17. Does look like the 1st app. Rowling previously had sworn she'd never get involved with comics. http://www.mtv.com/news/2965451/j-k-rowling-harry-potter-tribute-love-is-love-anthology/ Plus, Jim Lee calls it "first of a kind" -
  18. Gotta second this, seen the phenomenon with other books.
  19. Perfect, means it might be a smash hit for the new generation
  20. Holy... any very rough estimates as to how much it might fetch?
  21. Was wondering about the same thing... those larger bags I believe are mylars, in which case their lower flexibility might might make for a less baggy fit than expected.
