Notice this 9.6 copy graded in February of this year has a CVA sticker on the top left corner of the slab.
How did this happened since I thought CVA had gone the way of the dinosaur and were no longer in business?
I noted that as well, leftovers?
Always seemed an odd business model.

This was for an X-Men #149.
"Please cancel this order, I was under the impression that this is a pre first appearance of magneto. I see now were he came in in the 60's. Sorry for any trouble. Thanks"
It's all Magneto's fault!

Awesome books Josh! I've said it once and I'll say it a thousand times, that hulk is sweet. It was good hanging out with you and the boy. I'm smelling a tradition in the making!
Yeah, the boy is already planning on next year. "Make sure you clear your call schedule for next April," is what he told me last night.

Great books!
Thanks, had no intention of grabbing anything other than the Avengers, but the Hulk was just calling my name!

Ended up going on Saturday, was there from 9:15-4:00 with a break for lunch. Great crowd as the day went on, especially after noon. While I'll always want more comic sellers, there was a nice mix for all interests. Felt that the flow of people went well, but I admit my focus was just on the comic sellers' alley.
Spent a lot of time at Dale's setup (hands down the best of the show) and came away with some great looking books.
No reservation at all about attending next year.

Just got this back from CGC today!
Great job, now go find a raw mid-grade Avengers #3 for me and have it come back as a 9.2 like this one. I'll wait.

Your board name makes me hate mine... I mean "comicquant"??? At least I could've come up with "batpurds".
Nothing beats the old school shows!
You know it would have been Spiderpurds or Parkerpurds.

This is my second post since getting back to collecting comics. Thanks for calling me a boardie John! Also first comic book convention since 7th or 8th grade (a long time ago). Looking forward to this weekend and hoping for a good turnout.
Those east side Holiday Inn shows were pretty cool though.

i'll take the avengers 11 per p.m.
Very nice looking book, congrats!

Pretty much agree with the others regarding their approaches. Since I got back into collecting a few years ago, my main focus has been high grade SA Avengers. I'll occasionally go after a different book/title from the SA or rarely something from the GA, but then it's mostly something that randomly catches my eye--and usually at the mid-grade level.

At the airport waiting for my flight home. It was a fun show, and on the plus side I was able to get my Hamill autograph and my brother got his from Jeffrey Morgan (though the latter was more difficult than Hamill was for me). Other than the publicized issues with some guests I thought the guest list was great and people responded.
On the minus side, sales at the booth declined from 2016, which had declined from 2015. I suspect the ever growing fees for autographs are influencing this sales decline. The celebrity autograph area needs to be expanded considerably. I was expecting the Fire Marshall while waiting for Hamill on Saturday at 2.
More after I'm home.
My son, the Pop figure fan, and I almost hit up the Duncanville store yesterday for his monthly fix. Seeing their wall of figures at the show, might have been a good decision to wait until next week for a run.
Sorry to hear about the drop-off in booth sales.

I did perk up when he pulled that Avengers 3 slab out though.

I'll give you $5 if you cosplay as Man Mountain Marko at the show in Indy.

Awesome! He goes through the raw books in the video below.
I'd favor this one over the unboxing ones almost.

Pride of Baghdad. Vertigo one-shot written by Brian K. Vaughan. This book will haunt you. I'm serious, its been 10 years since I read it, and just thinking about it makes me feel the same way I felt when I finished it. Not for the weak willed.
Absolutely. I even gave the TPB to my father in law (who is a retired professor of Middle Eastern Studies) just because it's so powerful of a story.
*CLOSED* High grade X-men slab mega-run! (it's alot)

Nice group of books. Are there any high grade X-men slabs left in the Metroplex after this one?
