  1. Bought all of these new off the newsstand and LCS (my first) when I got back into collecting in 79. Loved the storyline and could not wait for the next issue to come out.
  2. Nice Room!!! Just one observation on my part being the "pessimist" that I am... (Was nicknamed Mr.Doom and Gloom) A Space Heater and Paper Products???
  3. What am I missing here??? Is The Book Incomplete? Back Cover Missing?
  4. Now all I need is Complimentary #12 and that completes ALL of my Sad Sack Runs.
  5. Now that I am in the process of Re-Grading my books I found I was way off on this number. 3400 - 3500 is the correct number.
  6. I cannot give an "exact" value but I am in the process of re-grading/cataloging all of my books so I will have a much better idea by the end of the year. At this point I am insured for $30,000.00
  7. Welcome To The Hobby and the Forums!!! These are the 2 books I use religiously. 1)Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide 2)Overstreet Comic Book Grading Guide http://www.gemstonepub.com/ (You can also find them on Amazon and eBay)
  8. Nice Haul!!! I only collect raw books and it brought me much joy when I was able to add older issues to my collection. Enjoy!!!
  9. I concede, you have bested me in crappiness! I have finally found someone who might buy my books in an attempt to upgrade. I salute you, sir! (thumbs u I bought/buy what I can afford and was/am only looking to complete my runs which makes me a very happy camper but when it comes to low grade... Some real doozies there, That's for sure. So let me ask both of you something (although spracknetch23 kinda answered already) - do you buy these books with the idea of replacing them in the future? I was just wondering, because most of them I probably wouldn't buy because I decided years ago that once an issue was purchased, it went off the wantlist forever. The only exceptions might be when I buy a group lot and there is something I don't own in the lot but isn't up to my (low) standards, I might keep the copy but leave it on my list. Which means the lowest I go is a G that looks nice (yeah, I know some folks don't think such a thing exists), generally shooting for VG or so. The lower grade books are the early issues that I did not purchase back in the 80's from the LCS/Cons before the prices skyrocketed. I never plan on buying a lower grade copy to upgrade later. I buy to complete my runs with first print/original issues and buy what I can Afford and then move on.(the exceptions are the #1's which are Marvel Milestone) As long as the cover is there and the book is complete I am good, also have no problem with remainder copies of early issues if they are priced correctly. The ultimate goal...Complete all runs before I am gone.
  10. "Ho-Hum"??? Archie is a Mainstay and very relaxing to read, not serious or violent, just FUN. When I started reading comics back in the early 60's it was Archie and Harvey Comics. When I went to the used book store in the local farmers market back in the 70's they would have tables of coverless/remainder copies, 15 for $1.00 and I always bought a pile of Archie/Harvey. to read. Keep collecting and posting the good stuff!!! (thumbs u

  12. Glad to see I am not the only one that does not have a problem completing runs with lower grade reading copies. (thumbs u Hey, pretty much my entire collection is lower grade copies! Well, when you look through these threads and see all of the higher grade CGC books being shown off it makes you think that you are the only one with low grade copies of anything.

  14. Personal question, You do not have to answer, I will understand. Do you have anxiety issues besides the overwhelming comic books?
  15. What you are saying works great for 500 comics. This is much worse then that.....but can be figured out. Your from NJ. What time should I expect you? After I retire (6 years or so) and my Grandkids are all grown up and do not need me to be there with them every weekend.(youngest is 2,)
  16. My OCD would not allow my books to be left that way but you need to find a way to this so you are comfortable and it is not consuming your life, something I am very familiar with. If it were me I would start by placing all books on the floor in piles by title in alphabetical order and once all boxes are emptied and all books are layed out start with the A's and work your way down. Once they are layed you will be making progress and you will see that you are making progress and realize that you are becoming organized with a plan so you can do a little at a time and it will not seem as tedious. Before you know it the piles will get smaller and it will be done. I am in the process of re-photographing/grading/cataloging my books and that is also a very slow tedious process. Once I came up with a plan and a way to keep it organized on paper(actually on my computer) and in my head while I slowly accomplish this I was able to relax without anxiety over "it has to be done now".
  17. With the books I still need I am only looking for reading copies and they are still hard to find, especially hard to find at guide.
  18. Wondering if some of you guys/gals could take a look at my thread in the "Comics General" section and add some insight. Thread is titled... "F.F. ANNUAL #1 BINDERY/PRINTING DEFECT" Thanks In Advance
  19. The only "silly" question is the one that is not asked. Should not be a problem storing TPB's with your comics. Again, as long as the comics are in Mylites they will not be affected by anything around them, however... If you are looking for long term preservation of the TBP's I would separate them from each other. ALL paper products degrade by themselves over time and as they degrade produce acids that could affect the other books they touche if they are not separated. Ideally you want something stable like Mylar or Acid Free Boards in between them. The degrading process is very slow and the more stable the environment they are stored in the slower it will be. On the bright side of paper degrading... I Love the smell of "degrading paper" when I walk into a Comic Shop.
