  1. I moved into a new apartment back in March and the bed sits right up against the window, I enjoy looking out so the blinds are always about 1/4 the way up. The sheets on the bed are Dark Blue and the sun faded the top of the sheet and pillow case to almost white in less than two weeks.
  2. COLLECTOR in every sense of the term. Raw books, complete runs, all books are graded (by me), photographed and cataloged, generally condition is not a concern especially for hard to find or expensive books, will even accept coverless (for #1's) or remainder copies. I do own two CGC books(out of 2000)because they were needed to complete runs and the price was right. (TTA 1 1959, Transformers 80 1984)
  3. LOVING THIS!!! Also wanted to add a pic of the first additions to my comic room in about ten years. I did not read these books, but I love the cover art, so they are being displayed in UV protected frames.
  4. I do not think anyone will be able to give you an honest appraisal of grade while the book is still bagged, when grading a book you have to be able to see the book in it's entirety to establish an "overall grade", the best I can tell from what I can see with the corner/edge creasing IMO the book will not garner a grade higher than a FN 6.0. FYI...If you send that in to be graded CGC will remove it from the bag. 6.0 FINE (FN): Back to TopAn above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor spine roll is allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose
  5. So sorry to read about your book being stolen, hopefully you get the book back or FMV so it can be replaced. I am assuming from what I read that you are insured through your homeowners? When this is done and over with you may want to consider... https://collectinsure.com/?gclid=CJu3heLP8cUCFYuPHwod4kgAww
  6. Those books were printed and sold as a set with a record that read the story to you as you followed along in the book. They are a recognized reprint and have the same title/cover as the original with no cover price or advertisements on the interior pages. The book/record sets were released in 1966. As far as I am concerned they are a viable, lower cost replacement (depending on what you consider low cost these days) from the original if you are looking to complete your runs. https://www.keycollectorcomics.com/category/golden-record-reprints,883/issues/
  7. Without having the book in front of me to examine closely this is the highest I can go... 9.4 NEAR MINT (NM): Back to TopNearly perfect with only minor imperfections that keep it from the next higher grade. Subtle bindery/printing defects are allowed. Bindery tears must be less than 1/16" on Silver Age and later books, although on Golden Age books bindery tears of up to 1/4" have been noted. Cover is flat with no surface wear. Inks are bright with high reflectivity and a minimum of fading. Corners are cut square and sharp with ever-so-slight blunting permitted. A 1/16" bend is permitted with no color break. Small, inconspicuous, lightly penciled, stamped or inked arrival dates are acceptable as long as they are in an unobtrusive location. Slight foxing. Spine is tight and flat. Staples are generally centered; may have slight discoloration. Almost no stress lines. Paper is off-white to cream, supple and fresh. Slight interior tears are allowed
  8. It does not go in a "set" it was a single issue one shot book so if it were me it would be cataloged/stored in alphabetical order with other books of the Carnage title. I also have a Miscellaneous folder in my comic boxes for books such as this. https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?q=carnage&pubid=&PubRng=
  9. par·o·dy noun: an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect. verb: produce a humorously exaggerated imitation of (a writer, artist, or genre). A parody cover would be a comedic/dramatic takeoff of an original cover so I would gather he only signing original covers, not variant covers. IE: The movie Spaceballs is a Parody of Star Wars movies. https://www.google.com/search?sxsrf=ACYBGNT2AXhT3SK8n5PgYGQ5xj_W8cUMsQ:1573487169985&q=what+are+McFarlane+parody+covers&tbm=isch&source=univ&sxsrf=ACYBGNT2AXhT3SK8n5PgYGQ5xj_W8cUMsQ:1573487169985&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiYhs2-wOLlAhWPylkKHfucATcQsAR6BAgJEAE&biw=1366&bih=635
  10. How new is your phone? With newer phones if you take a pic and ask your phone who this is it will find the answer, we did it with an insect to see what it was.
  11. Unfortunately a grade cannot be given without seeing the book in it's entirety since a grade reflects the "overall" condition of the book. Since "technically" a 1/8" piece missing is only allowed in VG 4.0 the higher the the grade without the defect the more it will lose with the defect, for instance, IMO, if this book were a FN 6.0 without the defect it would probably drop to a VG/FN 5.0 with the defect.
  12. "Dad: “Fra-gee-lay” …it must be Italian! Mom: I think that says “fragile”, honey. Dad: Oh, yeah"
  13. You must be referring to the "RARE Newsstand Edition" that sold on October 2. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ren-Stimpy-Show-1-CGC-9-8-NM-MT-Wp-Marvel-Comics-1992-RARE-Newsstand-Edition/392446204755?hash=item5b5f9ddb53:g:l1AAAOSwzBBdh-l3 The LAST copy of Ren And Stimpy #1 sold was for $5.00 on October 28. https://www.ebay.com/sch/3980/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=ren+and+stimpy+1&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1 Even MCS does not have any listed over $5.20. https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=92831 Ultimately, it is your book and your decision.
  14. Ren And Stimpy #1 in high grade is selling for $5.00 on eBay. If your reason for wanting to have it graded is to resell later on then as you can see that is not prudent, however... If you are looking to just protect the book then a Mylite with an Acid Free Board will protect as well as a CGC Holder. If you are looking to display the book this is a great alternative, https://www.bcwsupplies.com/comic-book-showcase-current-uv I just recently purchased 3 for my 3 copies of Marvel Comics #1000 (Lovin the artwork) so they could be displayed and I highly recommend them if that is indeed what you are looking to do.
  15. If you are looking for accurate grading on eBay I would recommend taking a look at https://www.ebay.com/str/comics4less Every 4 month's I track eBay sold auctions for my key books and whenever I see a listing from comics4Less I disregard that sold auction only because they are extremely strict on their grading and it seems that almost 100% of the time the book they have graded is graded at least 1 point below what it actually is, If they say the book is a FN/VF 7.0 the book is at least a VF 8.0.
  16. Depending on what you have you can also contact local dealers near you, keys could get you 30% of FMV and non keys with high cover prices (.75 cent and up) will only get you pennies on the dollar, but if you are looking for a quick turnover...
  17. Very Nice Well Loved Copy. Even with the interior tears I concur... 2.0 GOOD (GD): Back to TopShows substantial wear; often considered a "reading copy." Cover shows significant wear and may even be detached. Cover reflectivity is low and in some cases completely absent. Book-length creases and dimples may be present. Rounded corners are more common. Moderate soiling, staining, discoloration and foxing may be present. The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2" triangle or a 1/4" square, although some Silver Age books such as 1960s Marvels have had the price corner box clipped from the top left front cover and may be considered Good if they would otherwise have graded higher. Tape and other forms of amateur repair are common in Silver Age and older books. Spine roll is likely. May have up to a 2" spine split. Staples may be degraded, replaced or missing. Moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Centerfold may be loose or detached. Moderate interior tears may be present.
  18. Not sophisticated is what I LOVE about Gold/Silver books and why I enjoy collecting/reading them. When I need to unwind I want a book/tv show that entertains/relaxes me but one that I do not have to think to hard about to follow what is going on, that to me is not relaxing, Gold/Silver Comic Books and TV Sitcoms, sit back, relax and enjoy.
  19. When I was a kid back in the 60's and I saw this book/cover for the first time I said "WOW!!!!", all of those villains/characters in one book and the cover is Amazing!!! One of my favorite All Time Covers and this book is a Gem in any grade. IMO this "Well Loved Book" is a... 2.0 GOOD (GD): Back to TopShows substantial wear; often considered a "reading copy." 20. Nice Book!!! The piece missing from the lower right corner on the back cover IMO keeps this from being a VG 4.0 so... 3.0 GOOD/VERY GOOD (GD/VG): Back to TopA used comic book showing some substantial wear. Cover shows significant wear, and may be loose or even detached at one staple. Cover reflectivity is very low. Can have a book-length crease and/or dimples. Corners may be blunted or even rounded. Discoloration, fading, foxing, and even minor to moderate soiling is allowed. A triangle from 1/4" to 1/2" can be missing out of the corner or edge; a missing 1/8" to 1/4" square is also acceptable. Tape and other amateur repair may be present. Moderate spine roll likely. May have a spine split of anywhere from 1" to 1-1/2". Staples may be rusted or replaced. Minor to moderate staple tears and moderate stress lines may be present, as well as some rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Centerfold may be loose or detached at one staple. Minor to moderate interior tears may be present.
  21. 5.0 VERY GOOD/FINE (VG/FN): Back to TopAn above-average but well used comic book. An accumulation of bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor to moderate cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases and/or dimples. Inks have moderate to low reflectivity. Blunted corners are increasingly common, as is minor to moderate staining, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor to moderate spine roll is allowed. A spine split of up to 1/2" may be present. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and minor stress lines may also be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown with no signs of brittleness. Centerfold may be loose. Minor interior tears may also be present.
  22. IMO the bindery defect will not affect the grade, the large crease by the lower spine IMO keeps this book from being a VG 4.0 but it appears to be nicer than a GD/VG 3.0 so... VG- 3.5
