  1. Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, Frank Robinson, Ernie Banks, Roberto Clemente, Eddie Mathews, Brooks Robinson, Lou Brock, Maury Wills, Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Bob Gibson, Juan Marichal... OOPS, sorry, wrong 1960's Super Hero's.
  2. I live in Jersey and I have had my books stored in my bedroom for 40 years. Just be sure that all books are stored in Mylites with Acid Free Boards (unless CGC Graded), in the proper Comic Book Storage Box, in a Controlled Environment away from all UV Light, Moisture and Heat Sources. I have had my books insured with CIS for over 10 years now (do not have anywhere close to the value you are stating), I have never had to file a claim. When I originally purchased the policy I sent them complete lists of what I have, I update it annually or as needed. Five years ago I regraded all of my books, (1800, took 6 months) and made a list of the books/grades and I took pictures of all of my books/collectibles and all that info is saved on my computer and two separate flashdrives. You can do the same and send them a flashdrive containing your collection and they will store it in your file. https://collectinsure.com/?gclid=CJu3heLP8cUCFYuPHwod4kgAww
  3. eBay... However I do not look at BIN or auctions that have less than 5 separate bidders or two bidders that get into a bidding war, I also view the pics to be sure the book is close to the actual grade listed or close to the actual book I am comparing and looking for current value on. I check the FMV on my most well liked books (95% are SA) every 4 month's just for curiosity reasons and it keeps me involved and interested in my books/hobby since the hunt for new books is pretty much over. I have been doing this for 5 years now and have all the info saved on my computer.
  4. Had to go to the hosting site and blow up the images to really see. F.F. 90, slightly blunted corners, very minor stress lines... 9.0 VERY FINE/NEAR MINT (VF/NM): Back to TopNearly perfect with outstanding eye appeal. A limited number of bindery/printing defects are allowed. Cover is almost flat with almost imperceptible wear. Inks are bright with slightly diminished reflectivity. An 1/8" bend is allowed if color is not broken. Corners are cut square and sharp with ever-so-slight blunting permitted but no creases. Several lightly penciled, stamped or inked arrival dates are acceptable. Very minor foxing. Spine is tight and flat. Staples may show some discoloration. Only the slightest staple tears are allowed. A very minor accumulation of stress lines may be present if they are nearly imperceptible. Paper is off-white to cream and supple. Very minor interior tears may be present. F.F. 92, slightly blunted corners, cannot tell/see if stress lines are present due to the edge being white so I have to say... 9.0 VERY FINE/NEAR MINT (VF/NM): Back to TopNearly perfect with outstanding eye appeal. 5. I was looking at that book since it is the 1960's variant and that is the age I grew up in and collect, however which is the variant and which is the variant of the variant?
  6. 80 Replies already...Holy C**P!!! Stories about the anniversary issue kept showing up on my YaHoo news feed and I was curious what the book/story was all about, has/had nothing to do with speculation or monetary value now or in the future, bought it to read only. Have not read it yet, too busy on my computer and playing MLB The Show 19. When it arrived I placed it in a Mylite with board and put it away. Supposedly there are 80 one page stories done by 80 creative teams, unfortunately on this plane of existence there will not be a Lee/Kirby story. It is the 80th Anniversary of Marvel Comics #1 published in October 1939 and YES the issue #1000 was a Rip Off from DC. The book I received is the "Original" cover, not a Variant, I did not really pay much attention to who was on the cover, however... There are other covers I would have liked to have instead of the original since they are more in tune to my collecting and I could relate to them better such as the 40's, 60's and Hidden Gem Variant By Ditko, Am I going to spend money to get variant covers, I may just to display them because some of the covers would fit right in with my other displayed collectibles. https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/see-a-gallery-of-15-variant-covers-for-marvel-comics-1000 https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/marvel-comics-1000-celebrates-marvel-s-80-year-legacy
  7. Marvel Won, I was weak and fell for the HYPE and Curiosity got the better of me. I have just purchased my first NEW comic book since 2009 when I bought Archie #600 (and of course 601 - 606) and it would be only the Second New Book since 1996. (Marvel vs. DC and Onslaught)
  8. UGH??? That is a "Well Loved" copy of a Classic Marvel Silver Age Key that would be a welcomed addition that any True collector would be happy to have in their collection.
  9. I do not and have never sent a book(s) to CGC but since nobody else answered your question... https://www.cgccomics.com/services/shipping-your-books/
  10. When I was a kid in the 60's and even as an adult in 79 getting back into comics there was no such thing as a 9.6 or 9.8 so I never gave it a thought, still don't. Well... They say the outer layers of the onion peel first so if we live long enough we all get to relive our childhood. Wait, what am I doing here, what was I talking about, who am I, who are you?
  11. I have been drinking tap water for 54 years and well water with lots of iron for the other 10 and I have yet to become mutated or gain superpowers, still drinking, still waiting...
  12. That is what it was all about, just like comic collecting, completing the entire series and checking off every card on the checklist. I remember back in 64/65 (??) I bought pack after pack after pack of baseball cards trying to get the elusive Richie Allen I needed, do not remember if I ever got it, I am pretty sure I sacrificed comic book purchases during the hunt, only got .25 cent allowance per week (and additional money if I begged and pleaded enough, of course I had to do chores to earn it), that equaled 5 packs of baseball cards or two comic books or a combination of the two and of course needed a Slurpee from 7-11 where I bought the cards. AHH, NOSTALGIA... OH, The Memories...
  13. If I would have thought about any of this pertaining to anything from my childhood I would not have done this... Back in 62/63 when I was 7/8 I had a friend down the street and her Dad worked for Topps in Philadelphia. Each time the new series of baseball cards ( 7 series per season if IRRC) came out he would bring home multiple uncut sheets of the new cards and she would give each of us an uncut sheet, what did we proceed to do... Cut the cards out and place them in the spokes of our bicycles with cloth pins so they made that neat sound when you rode.
  14. I = $20.00, now you have one and since I am unique I must be the only one.
  15. I agree and disagree with some of the points made. I watch/see/listen to my 16 year old Grandson making snide/snarky/demeaning comments to other players on Fortnite because they are using a controller or aim assist or are new (or anything else he can use) and my Three 10 year old Grandson's also being mean/snarky to and about other people and I wonder, "where did all of this come from", where did they learn this?" Well, they see adults and their peers treating/talking about people the same way so they do the same, somebody, somewhere at sometime needs to set a better example so I said what I said and I will be helpful and polite to anybody that posts that I am able to help and maybe, just maybe they will pay it forward.
  16. You guys are bullies... I am an Admin on an Auto forum and we try to Welcome New Members and be Polite, Understanding and Patient since they are new to this, they may not know their way around and maybe want to hear the answer from a "real person" as opposed to "just reading it" in a "sticky" where they may still not be sure, if I see a seasoned member getting snarky/sarcastic with a new members post that seasoned member receives a PM from an Admin or Mod explaining why we are here and how we treat new members, if you constantly going to be a D-Bag then you will eventually be suspended or banned. We were all noobs at one time and we all asked the same type of questions. On the other forum I have posted numerous technical threads on "how to" and they are all stickies and people still ask the same questions without looking for the answer themselves and I have no issue with that, I copy/paste the link to the thread in their post and let them know that if they have any questions/concerns/problems to Please Feel Free To Ask. It is preferable to have new members participate than to find their answer in a sticky and then leave, that would make us "Google". If it bothers you that much that you feel you must ridicule and make fun of new members that are asking the same questions over and over why are you on the site, isn't this supposed to be about "Enhancing" the hobby of comic book collecting? Three things I have learned in my years... 1)The only stupid question is the one that is not asked. 2)It is easier to answer stupid questions than fix stupid mistakes. 3)The first time is an experience, the second time is a mistake.
  17. I would say you are in the right range, from the pics shown it appears to be better than a FR/GD 1.5 but not quite a GD 2.0. Writing on the cover and/or interior pages usually does not affect books in this grade range, your spine split still falls into the GD 2.0 category. 2.0 GOOD (GD): Back to Top Shows substantial wear; often considered a "reading copy." Cover shows significant wear and may even be detached. Cover reflectivity is low and in some cases completely absent. Book-length creases and dimples may be present. Rounded corners are more common. Moderate soiling, staining, discoloration and foxing may be present. The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2" triangle or a 1/4" square, although some Silver Age books such as 1960s Marvels have had the price corner box clipped from the top left front cover and may be considered Good if they would otherwise have graded higher. Tape and other forms of amateur repair are common in Silver Age and older books. Spine roll is likely. May have up to a 2" spine split. Staples may be degraded, replaced or missing. Moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Centerfold may be loose or detached. Moderate interior tears may be present. 1.8 GOOD- (GD-): Back to Top Fits the criteria for Good but with an additional defect or small accumulation of defects that detracts from the book's appearance by a perceptible amount. 1.5 FAIR/GOOD (FR/GD): Back to Top Shows substantial to heavy wear. Books in this grade are commonly creased, scuffed, abraded, soiled, and possibly unattractive, but still generally readable. Cover shows considerable wear and may be detached. Almost no cover reflectivity remaining. Book-length creases, tears and folds may be present. Rounded corners are increasingly common. Soiling, staining, discoloration and foxing is generally present. Up to 1/10 of the back cover may be missing. Tape and other forms of amateur repair are increasingly common in Silver Age and older books. Spine roll is common. May have a spine split between 2" and 2/3 the length of the book. Staples may be degraded, replaced or missing. Staple tears and stress lines are common, as well as rust migration. Paper is brown and may show brittleness around the edges. Acidic odor may be present. Centerfold may be loose or detached. Interior tears are common.
  18. THAT'S ME!!!!! For the last three years. https://store.gomohu.com/leaf-50-indoor-amplified-hdtv-antenna.html
  19. Welcome To The Boards!!! I do not send books in for grading, however, I have read enough on this site that I can provide some information. Without an authorized CGC rep present and the book left with them immediately after the signing the signature will not/cannot be verified. A book sent in for grading with an unwitnessed signature will be graded accordingly... If you receive a Blue Universal Label the book will be graded with the signature as a defect or with a Green Qualified Label noting the signature on the cover but grading the book as if the signature were not there. https://www.cgccomics.com/comic-grading/labels/
  20. That's funny (ironic funny), last weekend I had to try to explain to my five year old Granddaughter (who navigates a Tablet/Xbox 360, Xbox 1 and TV Streaming Services with ease) what a VCR and VHS Tape were. I had to show her a picture for her to completely understand and then my Son walked in a said "I think I still have one up in the attic".
  21. Again, I am not an exterminator nor a entomologist but IMO you need to find out... What they are, where they came from and what you can do/change in your current environment to prevent them from returning. I would start with a Thorough Cleaning and vacuum up any crawly creatures you can see. If they are Paper Mites/Book Lice... https://www.hunker.com/13405741/how-to-kill-paper-mites https://www.americanpest.net/blog/post/help-what-are-these-tiny-bugs-in-my-books https://www.wikihow.com/Get-Rid-of-Booklice Paraphrasing... “Your mission, Peter, should you decide to accept it, is… As usual, should you or any member of your I.M. Force be captured or killed, the secretary will disavow any knowledge of your existence. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Peter.”
  22. You will have to forgive me, it was not intentional, I am old, cannot see well and I am partially color blind, blue, purple they all look the same to me, I go through the color thing every weekend with my Granddaughter.
