  1. It's light humor that I watch on Friday nights to unwind. I guess I don't have high expectations or over-analyze things. Of course I also just found out there was a 70s Spider-woman cartoon and I've been watching that on Disney+ on Friday nights as well. Humor and low expectations. That's the formula for Friday nights.
  2. My comic reading has slowed this summer, but it's finally time for an update on my reading all of Cerebus project for 2022... Finished reading through Cerebus #270. Only 30 issues to go. Storyline recaps in spoiler tags below...
  3. I just watched episode 2. Thought it was better. We'll see how the series progresses.
  4. Why are they all out of chronological order? This hurts my brain. 🤕
  5. I watched the first episode last night. Interesting enough to watch the next episode, but only mildly interesting so far. IMDB has a rating of 5.7/10. Sounds about right.
  6. Here are two ads Ian ran looking for missing DC comics to complete his collection. 2004 2005
  7. Search function doesn't work very well - and not at all on old threads before the migration.
  8. Yes, Christine Farrell. Just looking through some old Ian threads.
  9. Somehow I've never read Gaiman's Sandman although I've always heard how well-regarded it was. My wife actually mentioned the series on Netflix so we watched it together. We enjoyed it. I should read the series now.
  10. Also interested what it sold for. Hadn't heard about this. Here's what I found. https://www.sothebys.com/en/series/dc-complete-the-ian-levine-collection https://bleedingcool.com/comics/sothebys-auctions-ian-levines-collection-of-every-dc-comic-ever/ https://www.firstcomicsnews.com/sothebys-auction-dc-complete-the-ian-levine-collection/ https://downthetubes.net/40000-dc-comics-many-rare-offered-in-private-sale-of-the-ian-levine-collection-by-sothebys/ Ian himself is a bit non-pluses by this sale, telling us he sold his collection in 2008 to John Barton “for a tiny fraction of their value with the intention of being allowed to keep them in my house until I died. “But when DC ended all their runs and reverted to restarting at number one for them all, I was so sickened that I gave him permission to sell them,” he revealed in a Facebook post. “They were all taken away around 2015 and every comic was examined and graded by Paul Sassiene, comic expert, for Sotherbys. I rather resent everybody assuming I’m the one who’s selling them, having given up the ownership twelve years ago. Sotheby’s have had them for five years now, so I’m bemused that the story has suddenly become public. Fifty years hard, devoted, dedicated work, and all I ever got back was a mere fraction of what I paid for them, yet they will always be known as The Ian Levine Collection”.
  11. Sorry I missed national Spider-Man day. Here's a cake.
  12. Two-Face approves of having two copies of his comics.
  13. I didn't start reading & collecting comics until I was an adult. My first trip to a local comic shop was 3/12/2001. Bought these three comics. This selection was mostly based on what I watched on TV - Super Friends and The Incredible Hulk as a kid and Futurama as an adult. Also, started buying on eBay at the same time. Within a few months, I had hundreds of comics (mostly modern with some bronze age). Started reading "graphic novels".
  14. 6.5 sold on Heritage for only $3720 https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/cerebus-the-aardvark-1-aardvark-vanahem-1977-cgc-fn-65-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122223-11260.s?ic4=ListView-Thumbnail-071515
  15. I had that same idea years ago when Thief of Thieves came out.
  16. Finished reading through Cerebus #210. 70% through now... The Mothers & Daughters concluded. Next storyline Guys is half through.
