  1. Haha I thought at least one person would recognize that Planes Trains and Automobiles quote What has the world come to...
  2. I deserve to win because what you see is what you get. You wanna hurt me? Go right ahead if it makes you feel any better. I'm an easy target. Yeah, you're right, I talk too much. I also listen too much. I could be a cold-hearted cynic like you... but I don't like to hurt people's feelings. Well, you think what you want about me; I'm not changing. I like... I like me. My wife likes me. My comics like me.
  3. Ditto here. I've never once purposefully bought multiple copies of a comic. I'm definitely a completionist, but one copy of each issue does the job
  4. Yeah on that one I waited til like 2 months before the movie dropped for some reason and all the fringe collectors already had their copies it seemed like and the price crashed.
  5. I was digging through some of my collection and remembered I have Strange Tales 169-173, first 5 appearances of Brother Voodoo I believe. I got them years ago at a show for 50 cents each, I have no attachment to them and I'm planning to sell. I know the character is getting some MCU speculation heat currently, but not sure if waiting for something more official would equal more profit. In a similar situation a couple years ago I sat on the Captain Marvel intro too long and by the time I sold mine the bubble had popped. Waugh Waugh. Just curious about anyone's opinion on when might be the best time to sell these based on fringe/speculation hype.
  6. The one on the right is what I was previously considering to be my upgrade. I have learned I am terrible at grading
  7. No. Honestly even though I know they're very careful I didn't want it to be messed with so I just submitted as is.
  8. No, you can pay $15 to get the grader's notes on any book, but if you're the one submitting the book then the notes are free.
  9. FWIW the tear on the left only went into the first couple pages a small amount. It wasn't noted in the grader's notes below : Comic Description:X-Men 1 9/63 Marvel ComicsGrader Notes:moderate bends to cover moderate creasing to cover moderate spine stress lines to cover moderate wear all corners of cover tear left center of front cover tear right center of front cover water stain right top of back cover writing bottom of back cover
  10. I didn't do anything to it. The writing on the back in pencil is still there. 3.0 seems high to me as well, but I'm not enough of a grading expert to say either way.
  11. Apparently they aren't as strict on the tears these days . Very pleasantly surprised with the grade and page quality. The funny thing is I bought a 2.0 a couple months ago as an upgrade to this, but it turns out I'll be keeping this one and selling the other.
  12. I wouldn't say non obvious, but as shown on the label, the detached cover is the driver.
  13. Right. The detached cover allows it to be a very presentable 1.5
  14. $3115 shipped Happy to provide additional pics if needed. No returns on graded books. Will be shipped safely and securely with signature required. Paypal only. No trades. Payment due within 24 hours of invoice. First “I’ll Take It” wins
  15. Could be. I'll find out in a couple weeks. It's in transit to CGC now...
  16. Def sounds high. I used to try to bid on local estate auctions like that and I found that for whatever reason people always overbid on those things. I think it's due to the "estate find" mentality. In people's minds it adds a mystique and makes them think they're getting a steal.
  17. Nevermind. Found out I need to go to my email and there is a link from the date I submitted the book. My fault for not printing it in real time, but seems like would be a good idea to have it available under "My Account"
  18. I've shipped books to CGC before, but this time I didn't immediately print the packing slip when submitting the online form and now two days later I'm ready to ship the book but I can't find anywhere that I can view and print the packing slip. Under My Submissions it only has my previously received submissions, not the one from two days ago. Hoping this is an easy answer....
  19. Thanks for the point of reference. I'd be happy with a 2.0. Considering the tears mine has I think that's probably where it will land.
  20. Thanks for the opinions so far. I was thinking 1.8 myself.
  21. Have had this raw copy for a while and I have a general guess at the grade but looking for some expert opinions. FYI the small tear on the left of the spine goes through a couple pages and the the centerfold is well attached.
  22. Picked up the British reprints at a flea market in London while on my honeymoon 7 years ago.
  23. As someone who owns ASM 1-400 I can say even though it's a really hard choice I would choose the run over AF15. To me collecting is all about completeness. Just having one standalone comic wouldn't be the same to me, even as epic as AF15 is. When it comes to the run I can't imagine not owning all of those huge villian 1st appearances, great storylines, and classic art.
