  1. I can still see the scene... Group of about ten of us waiting to cross a street. Greggy magically appears in the distance in his delightful con attire. And Supapimp yells out Greggy's instant nickname. Sigh. Good times.
  2. Indeed... Believe that is the 2003 WonderCon forum dinner at... (attempts to reboot memories) ... McCormick and Schmicks (now McCormick and Kuleto's).
  3. My on point post regarding Adonis is that this is a continuous pattern of interest free loans he is getting from the sales forum. While he technically may "make it right" within the rules laid out, he has repeatedly done this with multiple people. At this point, he is Lighthouse light. ...(snip)... Lighthouse Light, Diet Lighthouse, and Lighthouse Zero have already been assigned. You are welcome, however, to assign the moniker of "Lighthouse TEN" to this member if you feel the comparison fits. Please note that, despite common misperception, this moniker is not to be presented as "Lighthouse 10" or "Lighthouse Ten", but only as "Lighthouse TEN". We now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion, already in progress.
  4. I would respectfully request that he not be taken off. This episode with Angelo is just one of many over many seperate instances. Old members will know what has happened with him and can buy accordingly. New members, who have no knowledge of Lighthouse and his various issues will not be aware. If this thread is to help make aware or warn the membership here of possible issues with sellers, then I think that his name must remain on the list. If not remaining on the list, then there needs to be a notation somewhere about his previous transgressions. Arex Ditto. The way he has jerked around forum members, time and time again, is pretty appalling. And there's enough of a pattern, stretching over years and with the repeated "second chances" he's been granted here, to know that it's not going to suddenly improve. No worries about that. I have no intentions of doing any mail-order selling any time soon. I may do some buying here and there, and I might complete some private transactions with friends, but you won't be seeing any general offerings from me. Feel free to leave my name on the probation list if you wish. I won't argue that point at all.
  5. Alright Complimenting my packaging job is cool. Just don't go telling people I shipped quickly.
  6. Don't be ruining my rep! Next thing you know Chromium will expect his books to arrive within 4 months.
  7. Recent kudos to the following, all of whom paid VERY quickly... Greggy deathlok awe4one chromium jokerman neurosis138 sckao comcasthawk zipper68 nik dad&son alecholland And megakudos to Bugaboo, for helping me redecorate my garage!
  8. Kudos to Greggy for not returning my krappy Marvels...
  9. Recent Kudos to: tofer118 scrape1 sckao 1coolengineer silverweb heinlein99 sborock stronguy All of them are shorter than I am, and that's just the way I like it!
  10. Yes. Yes, and there would be more if it had it's own forum I think. So where are we at on the separate WTB forum? About the same place we're at on the "Forum only" selling concept That sounds like a good idea! We should have something like that...

  12. Recent Kudos to: gman Sal Boomtown MikeS Flaming Telepath DKB Pirate Wormboy Kudos to Richard Finn of the Portland Comic Book Show... Unlike some promoters, when he had to cancel a previously advertised show (which was to be held October 8th), he sent mailings two months in advance then continued sending new mailings to everyone on his list three separate times to be sure everyone got the word. First time in 28 years that Richard has had to cancel a show (this one due to facility scheduling issues) and he went about it the right way. Richard is a class act, and if my schedule permits I certainly plan to be there for his next show in February.
  13. Kudos to Zonker... for lightning fast payment, and for knowing the secret formula to create room temperature superconductors...
  14. Recent kudos to Sal and ronm3 for quick payment... Enjoy the TPBs. Also, long overdue kudos to bubbagump, who has never once complained about me being taller than him, who never complained about the unending stream of mediocre employees I forced him to manage, who continued working for me even after experiencing the "every Lighthouse employee gets in a car accident within 30 days of hire" curse, who helped point and laugh when his co-workers tasted that curse's sting, who volunteered to assist me in playtesting my Gush-Spontaneous Generation deck, who offered to help move the buried body of my former business partner (should his body become buried at some point in the future), who believed in my good intentions despite seemingly overwhelming evidence to the contrary, who loaned me money so that I could buy an order of chili cheese fries from Weinerschnitzel and then didn't complain when I didn't share, who shared in several collections with me where I did no legwork at all, who let me keep every copy of Tales of Suspense 49 that came across his table even though he had his own customers for it, and perhaps most of all, who let me gloat a little when my Ducks beat his own Texas Longhorns in the Holiday Bowl in 2000 and when the Ducks beat the Longhorns in the NCAA tournament in 2002 and then didn't gloat a bit when his Longhorns won the National Championship last year... Guy didn't even complain when he was lying in a hospital bed awaiting triple bypass and I told his wife point blank that he was going to die... Kudos to you Rick... I can't imagine anyone else putting up with me this long...
  15. I use OfficeMax tape. Their store brand is stupidly cheap, and it tears cleanly. My tape is about 3/4" in from the edge of the Mylite2, so when I want to get into a book I just pull the corner of the Mylite back and it severs the tape cleanly in half. Absolutely no chance of a tape pull. The problem I have run into with Magic tape and the regular Scotch brand is that after a while they sometimes get more elastic, and it's a pain in the butt trying to take off tape once it goes "stretchy" on you. I want my tape as inelastic as possible so it severs with no overhang at all. At my peak, I was spending upwards of $120 a month on tape for regular bagging and boarding. I switched to the store brand to save money, and got a pleasant surprise when I saw how well it works on Mylars... If the question refers to the 1mil Mylites, I have no advice whatsoever. I hate them crinkly bastiches...
  16. Where would the fun be in that? But just for you... and you alone... when my 500-book Bronze prescreen comes back from CGC, I'll list everything at once. No "Don Rosa Collection, let's pick 15 random books to sell this week"...
  17. Kudos for speedy payment to: Lantern Flink bobpfef Sal Borateen
  18. Here's a nice 9.4 that I added to my collection... You should have seen the look on Harshen's face when Shawn asked him what he thought of "this ".... And no... I don't understand Raven's cover either...
  19. I added these two to my collection... Oh wait... you meant comic collection... Hold on...
  20. **sigh** I miss Crisis... I remember being 8 years old, sitting outside the grocery store in the summer time leaning against the warm cinder block wall, tearing fruit leather into tiny pieces and setting them next to me on a paper bag, reading the comic book that was laying across my lap, taking a bite of fruit leather as I finished each page, trying to have the fruit leather and the comic both last until my mom came back out with her groceries, trying to balance the need for delayed gratification with the desire to race to the end of the comic so I could start over and read it again. I remember those days well... and when I think of Crisis, that's how I feel... like a bright-eyed child, full of wonder, with my whole life ahead of me, if only I can sit still long enough to read the next page... I miss Crisis... **sigh**
  21. Supposed to be all-time (A-M)... but I have no doubt I missed a few folks...
  22. Well it's been far too long since I did my Kudos list, so here goes: Everyone listed here has been a pleasure to deal with, people in bold I have dealt with 3 or more times, people in red bold are those I have done too many deals to count (or maybe I just think they look good in a dress). I have no doubt that I have missed some folks, in part because some folks are anonymous and in part because my brain is like a sieve on Wednesdays. It's amazing how many 0-posters we have. I will get to the 2nd half of the alphabet soon. But a 2nd-Day-Air shipment just arrived, so I had best go make some packages.
