  1. Got a new lot of goodies from BBTS, and this one didn't take over 5 and 1/2 months. It had the new Masterpiece Thundercracker, Generations Selects Ramjet, Storm Collectibles Mortal Kombat Kung Lao (been looking forward to this one too), Marvel Legends Modular Iron Man (fantastic looking figure, nice update of the old Toy Biz Face-Off version) and FF Retro Mr Fantastic (disappointed in this one, I expected greatness, and it's only mediocre), along with an Injustice Dr Fate, He-Man Revelations Man-At-Arms (I always try yo get the MAA), and lastly the 4inch retro style Cyclops. Nice enough looking figure, if a bit below what I'd expect in 2022, but the packaging makes it. So yeah, I'm a dumbarse for paying for the packaging.

So it's just the Lee stuff? You should check out the later Alan Moore/Travis Charest issues.

Yeah I've got the old undersized softcover 'omnibus' they printed of that material. Great Moore story, great Charest art, that was the stuff.

    It's a weird vanity project:

"Recreate every page of Akira using characters from The Simpsons.

It would take 768 artists, each contributing five pages, to redraw the full six volumes of Katsuhiro Otomo’s masterwork. A monumental group comic project unlike any other inspired working illustrators, comics professionals, and even some who had never drawn a comic in their lives."

    Oh. That's certainly something different.

That's probably the driving factor behind the Absolute format, since they're oversized.

Isn't All-Star Batman & Robin considered trash, too? I have all of the Batman Absolutes, but neither of the B&R ones.

Yeah, All-star B & R is pretty bad. Not WildC.A.T.S. bad, but still bad. Again, it's all about the art, and that Lee's visual storytelling had vastly improved by then, and it was on display in this series (iirc).

  5. I'd love to see Alan Moore's take on the Golden Age Justice Society Of America. Get Alex Ross in to help designs, along with someone else from left field, not sure who, someone who does quirky fashion and modernist fash. Combine and see what we get. I don't know what I'd get, but I'd buy the hell out of it. Dale Eaglesham on art duties to start, perhaps?
