  1. I think the percentage has vastly decreased of younger new release collectors. When I was a kid, mom could give me $2, and I would walk to 7/11 and I could buy 5 new titles off the rack, and still have money left for some 'jaw breakers'. Now you need $5 for just one title, and who let's their kids walk alone anywhere now a days. . Plus kids would rather put their money toward video games anyway.
  2. I'm confused, is it the tea or coaster that makes you a nerd?
  3. Stan didn't create Deadpool, nor to my knowledge, play organized football. Hear the dollar signs running up on this?!
  4. Read it last night. Fun read. It actually reminded me of what comics used to be. Lots of action, in a Battle Royale type of event, with some surprises. Still not crazy about Ghost Rider being in the group (he should be a loner), but Finch is off to a good start. This is why I continue to read Modern comics.
  5. Could you imagine if the Church Collection was actually found by somebody who wasn't such a 'whoa is me' whiner. He seemingly demands to make money back on what he feels he lost out on, due to selling off the Church finds in the late '70's/early '80's.
  6. Always. I think I have sold off & rebuilt my collection 3 times. I had some nice high grade Bronze stuff that I will probably never see again. Or paid nothing for decent mid grade Silver, which are getting harder to find at decent prices. It seems like the dollars are going to be too great to rebuild what I once had. I think the final time I cash out, will be it for me. Promise. I swear.
  7. But it does make him a hypocrite. Pretty sure he also signs off on his appearances. He was already a millionaire, the movie shoot would not make or break his bank. Not like he HAD to do it. I can also insert cute emoji' :
  8. Again...this schlep took part in the filming of Iron Man 3. I am sure he got paid for his appearance even though it wound up on the cutting room floor. He is complete hypocrite for mocking the genre, and the people who...."oh I don't know, go out and see a movie", when he agreed to partake in a movie due to Stan's creation. Perhaps his feelings were hurt because he didn't make the final cut. I would love for him to address his time filming the movie, but he will not. He sucks.
  9. My LCS had a Black Friday Sale. Opened at 6:00 am and everything.
  10. These are nice books.....IF YOUR SHOP WAS LOCATED ON VENUS!
  11. I prefer the old Life Model Decoy.
  12. Would have been early 1980's. We had an antique/comic book shop. For some reason the owner put the X-Men books in the back room away from the other stuff. You had to ask permission to go back there and look through the box. This was the only one I could afford (probably less than $10 at the time), so I bought it. Thought I was a big man on campus. Then about 6 years later, I was in College, and went back in one summer, he had a mid grade X-Men #1. $500. Couldn't afford it. Wish I could have.
  13. Who knows. Not to mention some of the different handlers he had, maybe some variations. I found it asinine that you go and get his autograph for $100 then have to pay another $20 (or was it $25) at the end of the line if you wanted the hologram stuck on your item. Bunch of crooks.
  14. Which many people like to think of as an 'investment', as misguided as it is.
  15. Many guys have said similar things about Online Dating Sites.
  16. There is that "I" word again. Listen, if you are at a Heritage Auction and shelling out for a Action #1 or 'Tec #27, go ahead and call it an "Investment". Some books certainly have the weight behind them to be viewed as such. If you have 25 copies of the first appearance of Spider-Gwen, or the new Ms. Marvel, and are calling it an "investment", I would say stick to calling it a hobby.
  17. Something pot...something kettle. Guess he didn't get paid for this appearance?! Maybe that is why he is so bitter.
  18. He is the typical personality type that "If I don't understand it, then it must suck", mentality. Quite frankly, anybody failing to realize the impact on Pop Culture that Stan Lee had, have their heads up their butts. Nobody will remember Bill Maher when he kicks the bucket.
  19. One thing I had learned over 3 separate times I stood in line to get Stan's autograph---- People had him sign some of the dumbest s@#$ . It made no sense to see them get particular stuff signed- AND PAY extremely good money for him to do it. Whatever, it's your memento. I get some people don't care about money, it was probably more the experience they got. Just don't expect to recoup any of the cash down the road, (or your kids, or grandkids), and you will sleep just fine.
  20. I try not to pay too much attention to the Hollywood types. But she is by far the most clueless individual in all the land.
  21. Chuck got confused. He was probably pricing X-Force #1 in his head while having the Stan conversation at the same time.
