  1. Smart man. Daredevil is the same way. No meddling with the rest of this stuff. Pretty much a stand alone title. I will probably be down to 3 books soon. (Amazing Spiderman, Peter Parker Spiderman, and Daredevil). Either of those Spideys will be close to the chopping block soon though, I am sure of it.
  2. I know.....need any X-Force #1....STILL in ultra rare bag?
  3. Cap was doing well too. The Brubaker stuff was real good. The movies are awesome. And now they give us bad art, and bad creative teams. I actually had no problem with Sam Wilson taking over for awhile. But the way Spencer is pushing his Social Agenda on Cap is just awful, and using the Cosmic Cube as an out, is just lazy. If Miles Morales went back to his other Universe, that would suit me fine. It's 'amazing' how important Marvel is trying to make him and yet his books sell 1/2 the units as Peter Parker.
  4. I have a theory, more people bought the Lenticular covers, so I buy the regulars. Then 10 years from now, I will own the ultra rare non lenticular covers, and will get a whopping $1.50 more than cover price for these bad boys....
  5. And yet Marvel continues to force feed us. "Oh you will like this....you will accept this....you will submit". They are going to crash and burn the print side of things.
  6. I'll be saving some money, I don't want to bother with Generations. It has taken everything in my power to hand over money to Nick Spencer, and his Cap Hydra stuff (I can't wait till this is over). Maybe I can take the money I save each month, and go out and by some Silver Age I am missing. I still have Daredevil. They have yet to 'update' him. I guess being blind is enough.
  7. Anybody looking forward to this? Anybody not looking forward to this? It seems recently they were pointing poor sales on the established characters being replaced with 'new, updated' versions of themselves, because we weren't buying it. We were to blame. http://www.cosmicbooknews.com/marvel-comics-blames-fans-low-sales-not-themselves If sales are bad on many of those titles, do you find it odd they keep trying to make the readers accept these replacement versions of Legacy characters? Is Marvel Generations going to flop?
  8. Couldn't imagine the books that were in those stacks from the 1970 pic....
  9. Pffft....kids. He is doing 3 shows this year (2 in New York and 1 in Rhode Island). He will be 91 in October. Good for him!
  10. I've always been a fan of Joe Sinnott. I don't recall any Conventions in recent memory that I have ever been able to get to, in which he has made an appearance. I recently jumped on his web site, and saw for a small fee, he will sign what you send him (also making sure you supply return postage). Well I sent off a rather bulky 12 x 18 NOVA #1 print, I wasn't even sure it would arrive to and from in one piece. Well lo-and behold in less than 10 days from my sending it out- BAM! Joe is so cool. He even read my request to 'please sign in Silver if you can'. Thx Joe!
  11. "My mystic mallet cannot stop them, but my GIANT baked potato will!!!
  12. I don't own a GA book right now. Just Silver thru Modern. With the money I will soon be saving on Modern books (suck it Marvel), maybe I can save up some dough and pick up one.
  13. James, First, take some deep breaths, and think about the good things in your life right now. Sounds like you are going through a bout of depression, and perhaps you can get some free counseling and sort some of it out. Purging things linked to your past, sounds like a natural reaction for anyone who goes through a break up. Sometimes you have to look at comics like movies. You pay $10 for a movie, and you watch it, you leave. You don't get to resell that. If you have comics, and you read them, maybe they don't have any value per se', but you paid for the story. As somebody said, try taking a table and blowing them out at .50 each, or a garage sale. If you can whittle it down, that is a win. Whatever is left donate. Feel better, life is not as bad as it seems.
  14. I dig that. Takes you back to the Fleischer days.
  15. Agreed! I think Randy Bowen and Bowen designs are the Gold Standard of mini busts, and statues. They really capture the character from the page to the mold in most cases. They even got some 2nd and 3rd tier characters you would never expect. When they were doing their inventory liquidation before shutting down the website, I had my eye on a Daredevil mini statue. They quickly sold out, but I just sent an email to inquire if they had anything left. Got a reply back that he had one more, so I paid and he sent it. #2 of 4000
  16. I remember across the river in Alexandria, VA there was a shop on King St. But I can't remember if they had any Golden Age books. It's been a few years, so who knows if it is even there still. King Street is a great walking street btw. Lots of shops and restaurants.
  17. ALL PRAISE THE ZOMBIE ALIEN OVERLORDS! In all seriousness, lots of stuff signed many years ago, seem to be doing ok. Your worst enemy is sunlight, water, fire, air....just seal yourselves in a bubble and stare at your Signature Series Stan Lee's for a few decades. Stan will still be signing anyways.....
  18. Still a big fan of this one. I know it is probably one of the more common ones people get signed, but it's so 1960's, modern, psychedelic. Just a great cover. I had him sign a large print of this, not the actual comic. Framed up, looks great.
  19. Mylar, backing board (and a top loader if wanted) can offer just as good of protection. I mean both this method and CGC are considered archival safe. One would just cost you a few dollars, and you don't have to send it off, pay the fees etc. Plus you are not talking about a 9.0 Golden Age book here.
  20. If you are going to sell it, slab it. If not, don't. No point otherwise.
  21. My wife bought a pair of J Crew jeans on Ebay for $10. When they arrived there was $20 bill in one of the pockets.
  22. Will this be a trend? More dealers, not going to the big conventions out of frustration? The higher costs, the Hollywood/Cos-Play Bastardization of the event, not worth the hassle for some vendors? You know the increasing prices of admission, autographs, parking, hotel etc., is starting to wear down the consumer. It has to have an effect on the vendors. We have the Tampa Comic Con in July, and now Tampa MegaCon in Sept/Oct. I can't go to both. Can dealers afford both?
  23. No the pizza for $9.99. Pepperoni BEEYATCHES!!
  24. I just regret not sticking with the hobby. I have gone through so many buying sprees, then sell offs, because my interests have changed or I needed money for other projects. The last sell off I did went toward this:
