  1. I am really just disappointed in the flow of things. I left pretty much with a full wallet, after standing in line for 4 hours. I wanted to shop, but by the time they finally started letting the peasants in, I was too tired/hungry to properly look at stuff. So I left. This is all hindsight 20/20 now, but they could have done a better job of getting the VIPS/Experience/Nobodies (who still dropped $120 per signature) thru. Not going in 2018 for his LAST WE REALLY MEAN IT THIS TIME FLORIDA APPEARANCE.
  2. If by some miracle he comes back to MegaCon Orlando in 2018, I am not going anywhere near the place. I'll stick to the Tampa Comic Con.
  3. That is exactly what I was thinking. Disney World has a Fast Pass. Basically it allows you to jump the line, but they are still shuffling in the peasant line onto the ride. Pretty sure Disney has forgotten more about how to move a crowd than Megacon will ever know.
  4. I don't get comics signed. Signature Series doesn't interest me either. I got a 12" x 12" print signed last year of Spiderman, and this year I bought the same style print of Iron Man. So they are unique in that sense, and will be going on my wall.
  5. And it was a good rant. I empathize. This was my 3rd time to Orlando to get Stan's sig, and quite frankly, it was the worst of the 3. They could take some of the pain away, if they simply numbered their general signature tickets. "You have 1-50, come back between 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm. You have 51-100,come back between 1:30 and 2:00 pm" etc. etc. I was so burned out, back hurting from standing in place for 4 hours etc., that I literally did not shop as much as I wanted, to. I left a few hundred dollars in my wallet, and not with the vendors, because I just wanted to take a leak, eat something, and go home. If by some miracle he comes back next year, I am tapping out, no more, I'm done, not worth it.
  6. 1) I get it. Don't get me wrong. But for every 50 people that stroll in through VIP, we seriously can't squeeze in 5-10 people in between?! 2) Yeah just light your Benjamins on fire. 3) I agree. I saw some 'dealer', pull out every Silver Age Key you can name (withe the exception of AF 15, and ASM 1), and the one handler took the stack, patted them down on the table, none bagged, boarded, (in fact, I saw no window cut outs for signatures, I am wondering if they banned them this round), and shoved them over to Stan, while the other handler on the left, grabbed them and shoved them over to the side.
  7. Got Stan Lee's Autograph at Megacon Orlando- a few observations So Stan was/is at Megacon Orlando this weekend. I went yesterday. A few thoughts/observations: 1) I wish they would have just had numbered tickets for people who were not VIP, or Stan Lee Express ticket holders. Us schleps who didn't pay the extra $$ got to stand in line for about 4 hours while VIP's & Express holders kept filtering in. I 'get' that they paid extra money for their ticket. That is the bonus. But would it have killed them to filter in a few regular line standers in-between the others VIP's to keep the line moving?! Maybe let them wait 5 minutes, so somebody waiting 4 hours can get a crack at it?! At least if they numbered tickets, we could have shopped and SPENT MONEY with some of the vendors, instead of having a fear of being shut out, which is why we felt the need to stand in line. Then we could check back at the entrance and see what numbers they might be serving. This is all hindsight since this is his last Florida Appearance (until next year). 2) I still am amazed at what people have him sign. Hey it's your money. Whatever makes you happy. But from a New Mutants 98, to signing the cellophane on a Funko Pop Figure, to a Silver Age Fantastic Four #1, to a Bronze Age #1 Godzilla, whatever floats your boat. One thing is for sure- there will be no shortage of Stan Lee Signatures when he passes, (including the item I got signed). I don't ever plan on selling it. But those that do, will be in for a rude awakening. 3) He didn't seem into it. Hell, at 94 who would. I've gotten his signature at 2 other shows over the years, and this time he just seemed tired, barely looked up, barely exchanged words with anybody, and quite frankly, I don't blame him. His signature was pretty muddy. He was tired. Time to retire Stan. Nobody would blame you. Just personal observations. Nothing more. Excelsior.
  8. Meanwhile in January of 2017 Less than four years after declaring California’s budget balanced for the foreseeable future, Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday said the state is projected to run a $1.6-billion deficit by next summer . Maybe they should get back to more pressing matters?
  9. Good question, but I don't think so. A signature is a signature. Does an early Babe Ruth on a baseball command more than a retired Babe Ruth signature on a baseball? I think the quality of the signature and the item it is on is what factors in the desirable rate. Like a New Mutants 98 that Stan worked on in 1971, he was a writing machine on that one
  10. Secret Empire #2 Soooo....anybody reading this? Anybody remotely surprised from the "Shocking Captain America Twist"? (as it read on some Yahoo news feeds). It should come with a sticker that says "Nick Spencer Robbed me $4.99".
  11. So annoying when I go to a roofers convention, and they have a bunch of guys selling comics.
  12. As a kid, I always enjoyed them. In addition to my small stack of Bronze Age, my Uncle gave me a large box back in the early 1980's (mostly current stuff at the time, he was reading them while earning his Graduate degree - I know he had time? ). Anyway, I can't draw. I can't draw a stick figure, a decent circle, or a crooked line. What I see artists do on a regular basis with a piece of paper and pencil just blows my mind. I have a lot of respect for anybody that can draw, especially in the comic book medium. That is why I love them, and keep up with them to this day.
  13. BRONZE AGE, Marvel especially seemed to incorporate dialogue on their covers, giving you an added glimpse into the storyline.
  14. And that's fine, and I would add that your case is the minority not majority. It's still a funny dichotomy to me, that the good stuff in the middle, is the stuff that can't be accessed because we entomb them for whatever reason.
  15. Can't say I disagree. I understand getting a Golden Age or Silver or Bronze Age high dollar key that you are going to try to auction off. You want the buyer to know what you are selling, and they want to be comfortable buying, with no issues about agreed upon condition. I do not understand people sending everything off. There are more Stan Lee signed comics out there than anybody would ever want. You see poor, nothing special Silver and Bronze age books slabbed. WHY!? Modern comics....that's a whole other head scratch.
  16. I think you are contradicting yourself. Does Stan Lee need $120-$150 per signature over a 4 day convention? Pretty sure Stan is sitting on a pile of cash, why does he have to charge so much? Frank Miller, Todd McFarlane etc. should be the one's maybe coming down on their asking price. Does an athlete making $30 million dollars a year need to charge for their autograph? Hell no. How many Sportscard Autograph shows do we see now? I can't think of one in my State that occurs on an annual basis like some of the Comic-Cons we get (Orlando, Tampa, Miami). Most of the 'bottom of the barrell' you refer to are people with not a lot of money in the bank, who probably have to dig into their savings and pay for flight, hotel, materials, time etc. just to hopefully come out a head a grand for an appearance, some may even lose a few bucks if they gamble wrong. Just my
  17. Only the Snobbysnobs maintain any sense of reason and normalcy, trying to get everyone else to calm the *@$! down. You're welcome.
  18. I don't buy autographed comics, I don't want autographed comics, and I sleep pretty well at night.
  19. Last year was his last Florida appearance.....until it turned into this year.
  20. Power Man & Iron Fist was a fun read, sorry to see that go. As for the cancellations- no surprises. Silver Surfer never seems to hold on to a solo title since his 1990's run. Whoever thought Great Lakes Avengers and US Avengers would have lasted a year were delusional. E List Characters in those books.
  21. Wrong, I am complaining about those two. They suck out loud.
