  1. (thumbs u Wow nice haul for $9 I always thought that 2001 #10 was one of the harder ones to find. Do you mind if I ask what state your LCS is in? My guess is California from looking at the picture of the books.
  2. I got in one Long Box of random mixed Bronze Age Comic books in the mail today and I open them up as usual and look through each and every one of them with the hopes of maybe finding a Double Cover. I know there really is not much chance that I will find one in a single Long Box as I have been doing this for many years. I do sometimes find one but it is very rare and I have went through 10's of thousands of comics since I started selling on ebay, In fact I just recentaly bought over 50 Long boxex of randon 80's & 90's junk and only found one in all those comics. Ok back to this Long Box I got today abouit 40 or so comics in I pull out a Captain America #145 with a Double Cover Cool I did get lucky and then maybe 10 or 15 more comics in I pull out a Kull The Conqueror #2 with a Double Cover so within the first 1/4 of the box I found 2 Double Covers so now I am thinking what are the chances of finding more, I have never found 2 double covers in the same day much less in the same box, heck I have probably never found 2 in the same month before. Well by now I am through most of the box maybe like 50 or 60 more then I find an Amazing Adventures #8 with Thor vs. Black Bolt on the Cover and a Double Cover and if that was not enough it had the Mark Jewelers Insert also. Well anyway I thought it was Cool I just had my best day ever by far for finding Double Covers and I only looked through one Long Box. This really has me thinking about just how rare are Double Covers really? Maybe they were much more comon in the 70's and maybe this was the first real unsearched box I have ever went through. Mabye they are much harder to find in Newer books I know I almost never see any past the mid 90's with just a few rare examples, and maybe almost all the other boxes of comics I have bought over the years may have went through the hands of many dealers and the Double Covers got picked out. I would like to ask what others think about this?
  3. Sorry I got them but I don't have extras of any of these. Roger I am still 2 Westerns short of the 30 cent set maybe some day I will finish up. Actually I am waiting on Harry to finish the 35's before I get serious about these.
  4. Always nice to read about like-minded comics enthusiasts getting into the core of things. Maybe someone can compile a collection of such informative topics into a fanzine, or maybe incorporate it into a regular feature in one of the backissue mags like Alter Ego or Backissue. Keep up the great discussion, guys! Just reading makes me feel as if i'm transported back in time to the swinging 70s! The whole idea of this is so weird...any similar things in any other 35 cent variants?!? The only other one I can think of is the Captain America #212 with the missing banner, the thing is the 35 cent variant has it with and without the banner so the error got fixed even before they could print the whole 35 cent variant run so they cought it pretty quick, and I have never seen a 30 cent one with this error. Another interesting book I discovered is the Amazing Spider-Man #174 if you look at the fat diamond ones you will notice that the P in the tital SPIDER-MAN has no color blue behind it, this error is also present in some of the regular editions so they fixed this error sometime during the regular print run. So this leads me to also believe that the Fat Diamond "Whitman/Direct Market" books were also printed before the regular editions. What do you think?
  5. I think there are 2 triple cover Avengers #87 out there also
  6. Did anyone else notice there are four Double Cover IRON MAN #55 on ebay right now? There is a CGC 7.5 a 8.0 a 9.2 and even a raw one the funny thing is the 9.2 listing says 1 of a Kind Item in the tital. should have done a quick ebay search before he listed it. This has got to be one of the more comon Double Cover comics out there, I know I have seen a few more other than these.
  7. Why do you ask did both yours have Double Covers? and yes I do have one.
  8. Very Cool 3 Double Cover 30 cent price Variants! (thumbs u (thumbs u
  9. No I bought thie ASM #347 on ebay a while back so it is kind of hard to remember how much I paid for it. I actually collect Amazing Spider-Man Comics with Double Covers and I seen this one that said Double Interior on the label and thought I would pick it up as it was kind of cool cover and an Unusual error. I think I have 4 or 5 more comics in my collection with Double Interiors right now and I would be interested in yours if the price was right.
  10. Why would it get a green label? Green Labels are for books that have something missing right?
  11. Very Cool finds where did you find them at? I just got back a few hours ago from Wizard World St. Louis and only found one 30 cent ASM Variant.
  12. Here is a interesting error book I just picked up.
  13. (thumbs u Got two Great Comics from James a ASM #40 and Avengers #5 he packs super tight and shipped fast and the comics were sweet also I am very please, Thanks !!!!!!!!
  14. very nice Peter Parker Spectacualr Spider-Man #28 ft88 (thumbs u (thumbs u I just got this one in, it is pretty rough but I am very happy to add it to my collection.
  15. Where and how did you managed to obtain the area distributions charts from, CSM? I made the Charts myself from the distribution marks on the top edges of 35 cent variants that I had or have seen. The Charts are very incomplete and I Have not done anything to update them in many years. I still don't have any concret info on where that 5th test market is and one or two of the other Markets might not be exactaly where I originally thought they were. The only ones I am %100 sure of is Wilmington NC. and Toledo OH. because large original owner collections cam from both those areas. I am still interested in the subject and am always looking for more info just have not found out much in a long time.
  16. A Double Cover 30 Cent Price Variant very Cool find. (thumbs u
  17. I am going to bump the Double Cover thread with my first Triple Cover ASM.
  18. Thanks for the reply Dice, do you know if the way comics were trimed changed any from the 60's to the 70's? Reason I ask is I have seen this problem on a bunch of Silver Age Double Cover books but never on any Bronze Age ones. It just seem strange to me that I have ran across so many that all have that tear in the same place the top Left corner and it always goes around to the back cover.
  19. Hey Dice I have a Double Cover production Flaw question. I have been seeing allot of Double Covers from the Silver Age that have a chunk torn out of the inner cover at the top Left edge that extends around to the back inner cover. I am sure it must be production related since I have seen so many like this, but I am not sure. Do you have any Ideal how or why this could happen?
  20. I am still looking for Amazing Spider-Man Double Covers if anyone has any to sell or trade. I do have Lots of other Double Cover Comics I would consider trading for ASM issues I need. Also I just updated my ASM Double Cover Page check it out, I added a few new books like this one:
  21. Just got 4 great Old comics from Robert today, they were all graded very well and I got them here in the U.S. from Canada in just 3 days. I am very pleased with my order. Would be happy to deal with him again. (thumbs u (thumbs u
  22. Yes! Do you know if it was from North Carolina? If there is no Distribution Ink on the top or bottom edge then it probably came from North Carolina.
  23. Great info canickus and much appreciated. (thumbs u (thumbs u
