  1. I am more of a long term contrarian. I could never go in on Gamestop. I like my gambles to be of a educated nature. That stuff is bananas.
  2. 9.8 is the top grade. 9.9 and 10 are marketing creations as far as I'm concerned.
  3. Bought this from an antique store. I am not a DD collector but I felt I had to save it from this sketchy place.
  4. I won’t need a coffin or jacket but I may take you up on the makeup.
  5. I went all in on 1 April 2020. Waiting to cash out anytime after 1 April 2021. Currently up 227%
  6. Depends. It is all about condition. The lower the grade goes so to goes the price gap versus direct market additions. Also, if the book is just a run book expect less of a premium versus a key issue. As far as holding onto them only you can really answer that. I personally think that the newsie frenzy will subside. It has always been a thing but once it got to facebook groups a lot more people want them thinking that is what you HAVE to go for. Myself I try to get one of each version raw in NM or better on the things I collect. I have a narrow collecting focus so it isn’t too cost prohibitive though I don’t chase the crazy FOMO prices.
  7. Not sure what you mean by wholesale price. Collectors of CGC graded books frequent all the main auction sites. ComicLink, Pedigreecomics, comicconnect, Heritage, eBay, etc. It's not like a car dealer going to a car auction where only those with dealer licenses can buy.
  8. From what I gather on Facebook, demand in ASM #55 is at least partially driven by people buying 10-20 copies to flip and FOMO on the part of buyers. I think this type of behavior is a totally different animal. Some folks just like the cover but it seems very much like a pyramid scheme lol.
  9. He started his strip while I was a delivery boy and I read the strip every day before I started rolling papers. That and Farside. I loved those two. Good stuff.
  10. I knew a person so enthusiastic of this book when it came out he had bought a long box worth. He probably wasn't the only one.
  11. Yeah. We like what we like. So long as the pocket book allows for it. I think for many our collection reflects our means.
  12. 8k is a lot when you can get the same book without the Canadian price on it for 1/8th the cost. I am just not interested in the Canadian priced books if it costs more than a US version. Apparently 2 people were very interested in it for that auction.
  13. Those the ones. My wife was talking one time about a house she was looking at buying when she was younger and she mentioned seeing this stickers all over the kids room up in the renovated attic. I laughed and started to describe my old room. Hilarious coincidence and that those stickers were there 20 years later. This happened in a town of about 100k people.
  14. My mom bought this for me while we were at Krogers. Prior to this I had the spidey colorforms and the Marvel sticker set. The ones with a giant colored circle behind the character.
  15. I just didn't pick up on it. I would have made the connection had I seen it whether it is correct or not. 8k is a lot where the only difference is a UPC and a price change out. I love this book though and have a 9.8 Newsie and a Direct and my only SS book is a 9.6. The hobgoblin storyline came about at the height of my ASM reading. I enjoyed it but I always imagine Lance Bannon was the HG.
  16. I was unaware. California overhead probably isn't much better.
  17. I started stacking them Flat so I pulled them out of bags and mylites. I now have hundreds of mylites that I don’t want to toss because they are expensive.
  18. They should cease comic books and simply license the characters out. A smaller more nimble publisher could make it profitable. The last time I was at the DC offices was in 96. The chairs in the reception room were actually art pieces by Shiro Kuramata (How High the Moon chair). Manhattan real estate Is ridiculous expensive. I can get Batman made from my shed and the end user would not see a difference in quality. Their overhead is stupid high for them.
  19. I forgive Chris Braly for his transcription error.
