  1. I have been looking for any pages from Uncanny X-men #266 by Mike Collins and Joe Rubinstein for a while now and haven't been able to find any. So I figured I would try a public post here on the off-chance that someone might have some that are not posted online or maybe knows someone with an offline collection that has one. Depending on the page, (I am looking for one with Gambit on it) I can offer cash or trade or even some of both. Whatever works for you I'm sure will work for me. Thanks everyone in advance!
  2. Agreed, you won't be able to find a private deal for all of it, so ComicLink is your best bet. You would take a bath at Heritage.
  3. It has been a little while since I have posted here or even had an Art Day I wanted to share, but this is a pretty good one. The original Campbell run of Gen 13 is one of my favorite comics from the mid-90s. Last year I was able to score my grail, the cover to Gen 13 #1 and I have been jonesing for another ever since. It has taken me over a year to get another Campbell cover but it was worth the wait. I have added the cover to Gen13 #17 by J Scott Campbell to my ever growing Gen13 collection on my CAF. You can see it on there if interested and you can also read the long story of how I got it in the gallery description, for those that like a good story. https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1633307 Thanks for looking! Dave K
  4. I've had this Julie Bell Gen13 cover painting for a while now. This was for a novel based on the comic book.
  5. Yes, it is the norm now. It does depend on the state you live in though. Here is a link with more info, but all internet sellers are starting to collect the sales tax now. https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/50-state-guide-internet-sales-tax-laws.html
  6. I've been looking for those for almost 2 decades now myself. I have never seen them come to market or met anyone who had them offline. I loved those posters so much back in the day and had them on the walls for years. But you probably stand a better chance of finding them than me. Good luck!
  7. I have used and recommend Robert Dennis as well.
  8. Link? I don't see it on eBay based on the title.
  9. Good luck, buddy! Those are not easy to find or acquire and competition can get fierce. Patience is key though. I'm sure it'll happen at some point!
  10. The eBay auctions start ending tomorrow for most of the art, all still with no reserves and low starting prices. The Tim Sale Vampirella and Duursema Marvel Swimsuit pinup/cover featuring Storm are going to sell as they have bids. The Finch and Charest pieces have lots of watchers so who knows how they'll play out tomorrow. Someone can get a really good deal on these. https://www.ebay.com/sch/madman1138/m.html? Thanks for looking!
  11. I have moved most of the pieces to eBay at even lower prices than were on my CAF! Starting the Finch and Charest pieces at almost half cost! https://www.ebay.com/sch/madman1138/m.html? Thanks for looking!
  12. I have dramatically reduced the prices on everything in my main For Sale gallery on my CAF for a limited time, in some cases to below cost and only reduced for a limited time. Just trying to raise more money for SDCC. Art by Arthur Adams, Travis Charest, David Finch, Tim Sale, Scott Clark, Joe Chiodo over J. Scott Campbell and more! https://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=163292 Prices good through the end of June. I can be messaged here or through CAF mail for purchase inquiries. Thanks for looking!
  13. These relisted art auctions end tomorrow, in just over 24 hours. Lots of watchers but no bidders yet, so any bids can take them!
  14. I relisted all of the unsold pieces listed above, minus the Timm sketch, which did sell. I lowered the starting prices on almost all of them. https://www.ebay.com/sch/madman1138/m.html? Thanks for looking!
  15. Todd McFarlane tells a funny story about how he gifted the OA for his first ASM cover to his dad, and his dad bought a cheap frame and trimmed all 4 sides of the art down to the art area to fit the cheap frame. So Todd took it back lol. He showed it in a FB Live video and it breaks your heart.
  16. These auctions all end tomorrow! There are no reserves and very fair starting bids, and there are a lot of watchers but no bids yet so any bid can win! Thanks for looking!
  17. It had to do with taping the artwork down to be photographed for the plates, then they just would razor cut the art off the board it was mounted to. It was done for speed and convenience, as artwork was still thought of as worthless back then. As the production processes changed, that practice was thankfully stopped.
  18. I've recently listed a bunch of art on eBay featuring Arthur Adams, Tim Sale, Bruce Timm, Jan Duursema, David Lapham, Stephen Segovia, and 3 nice Joe Chiodo color guides to covers, painted over J Scott Campbell lines. https://www.ebay.com/sch/madman1138/m.html? Thanks for looking!
  19. In my experience, lower end art does better on ComicLink and higher value stuff does well at Heritage. But I know someone who sold a lower end-mid level art collection on Heritage and took a beating. I think it has to do with ComicLink not having buyer fees, Good luck, and sorry for your loss.
  20. UPDATE: I've decided to offer a 10% discount on all items in my For Sale galleries on my CAF, including the Premium items! So if you've been eyeing anything, now is the time! The reduction on the Capullo/McFarlane Spawn splash alone is $600 off! I'll keep the sale running and the Premium items up through the end of April and if they don't sell by then I will be pulling them down and offering some other art instead. My CAF link again: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerydetail.asp?gcat=28210 Thanks for looking!
  21. I have had packages from France and Italy all come via DHL, which I believe is the best carrier for them to send to us here in the US. For sending to them from the US, our best is FedEx, although I have never had an issue with USPS Priority International either. So yes, DHL is best and I believe what most collectors in Europe use to send to us. Hope that helps!
  22. All of my framed paintings are under museum glass, which is UV protected and low/no glare. You can choose not to use glass on paintings on mounted canvas, but cleaning the surface of a painting is tough, and all things in the air from dust to pollen or whatever will stick to it. Glass is just a small spritz of glass cleaner and a nice rag to clean and so much easier, as well as protecting the piece from the light and fading. SO I would recommend using the glass and spend for the good glass. My 2 cents at least.
  23. I set up a temporary gallery on my CAF specifically for some of my "Premium Art For Sale for a limited Time" that will only be up until I sell a couple pieces to help me buy a piece that is quite important to me. (not saying grail this time, but close) As I am trying to raise a chunk of money quickly, I pulled 6 of my nicest pieces from different aspects of my collection to diversify the offerings. So these are pieces from my Permanent Collection that would not be available otherwise, but I simply want the other piece more. So I am not looking to sell all of these, just enough to reach my goal, and then the gallery closes again and everything goes back to unavailable. https://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=168475 This gallery has a fantastic Spawn #27 cover-worthy splash by Greg Capullo & Todd McFarlane, a Travis Charest finished pencil pinup for Grunge from Gen13, an Arthur Adams Firestar variant cover, a Simone Bianchi Thor & Loki cover painting, a Unity #1 page fully pencilled & inked by Barry Windsor-Smith, and lastly an incredible Joker painting by cover artist Francesco Mattina! (Very little physical Mattina work is out there or ever available as his published covers are done digitally, and this is one of his best ones out there!) Everything is priced as marked and you can message me through PM here, CAF mail, or my email at madman1138 "at" yahoo dot com. I will listen to offers as well, but I did price things so keep that in mind when making an offer, that it should be in that ballpark at least. I should also note that I have several other "for sale" galleries on my CAF as well, for stuff that is always available. I have added things to those as well recently, so feel free to check out any of the red galleries from my main CAF page at https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerydetail.asp?gcat=28210 Thanks for looking!
  24. You may also come across the term "mechanical cover" at some point and it is essentially the same thing. Whether calling it Production Art or a Mechanical cover, it basically just means that it is assembled with copies/stats of the original art, but it is not actually original art as it is not hand drawn. So either is just a large copy of the original art with additional elements added, such as titles, logos, etc.
  25. Joe Chiodo has recently been selling his color guides to all the great early Image titles through Joe Mendoza at http://www.5jcollectibles.com/store/c1/Featured_Products.html Joe's site is full of Chiodo's color guides to the early days of Image Comics when Joe colored for both Wildstorm and Top Cow at Image and at Marvel during the Heroes Reborn that Jim and Company did for Marvel. So these are Joe's hand painted colors over copies of the line art by Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, J Scott Campbell, Whilce Portacio, Adam Hughes, Arthur Adams, Humberto Ramos, Brett Booth, Dale Keown, and so many more. What is nice about Chiodo's color guides is that he used cardstock instead of flimsy copy paper and he didn't write the color codes all over the piece so it is still nice looking art. I've bought quite a few myself and Joe Mendoza is a good guy, so I wanted to point people at him in case others are interested as well.
