  1. Ah, but, young grasshopper, you are close to not one but TWO 35 cent variant test markets. Memphis/Nashville was one, and Huntsville, Alabama was another. Go forth and hunt! Board member cosmic-spider-man might be your best bet for the X-Men 105-107 dupes.
  2. I don't think so! More fun from the archives! An all-time forum classic!
  3. Holy cats! Amethyst 1 35 cent variant Amethyst 2 35 cent variant Time to sell my 9.2 and 9.0 slabbed versions!
  4. This is the funniest and saddest post I've ever read on this forum. It is so wrong and sad on so many levels I can't even begin to start. I may have to make this my perpetual sig line.
  5. Paging Mr. Read'em (or Stupidman...) This is why some people collect variants.
  6. I buy vintage postcards of my hometown - Barrington, Illinois. If you have any, let me know!
  7. Category 0: Howard the Duck 3 and 4, and Eternals 1. More variants exist than non-variants.
  8. Don't mess with Harry's daughter. She's TOUGH man, very TOUGH.
  9. OK, here is my story. I was working at a public relations firm in DC that went tits-up December 31, 2001. So I'm unemployed. There was a long-planned (and paid for) trip to Disneyworld set for the family in January, 2002. We went the week after the Patriots-Raiders "Snow Bowl" game, to give you a timeframe reference. I love Disneyworld, but too much of it with four children can be a pain. So I leave my wife, her brother and his wife with the kids at the Polynesian and go looking at comic shops in Orlando. After a horrible, hideous experience with Greg White in Kissimmee (topic of another story), I end up at All-American Comics in Orlando. Very pleasant store. I purchased DC 100 Page Super Spectacular 5, Super DC Giant S-17 and Super DC Giant S-21 (the Holy Trinity of DC romance books, for those of you not in the know) for a very nice price. I'm talking with the owner, and he says "I have something you might be interested in." He goes into the back room and brings out a copy of Detective Comics 1. It is low grade and stickered at $7500. The owner says "I'll guarantee it is unrestored, and will give you a 20% discount." This makes the book now stickered at $6000. Remember, I'm unemployed. I say, "I'm unemployed, and can't do it." He says "OK, not a problem." That book has since been slabbed as a Blue Label 3.0... and sold for $25,000.

  14. Can you post a quick list of the books you DON'T have scans for?
  15. I have a long box full of Whitmans. I'll get around to posting a list one of these days, but I must have all of them at this point - I've been buying them for years. Don't forget the two biggies, the Superman vs. Muhammed Ali All New Collectors Edition and the Superman 1 Limited Collectors Edition books.
