usually USPS works fine, the post system in Japan is really good if there is tracking number it's fine once they even found me with a partial rip off label ... not sure I am confortable with that ahaha ,I don't think  I had a parcel lost  since I live there (22years) I had more problems with the opposite, sending stuff from japan .

Anyway if you feel it's a pain and just want to stick to USA only  it's ok, no problem I won't participate in the sell, I completely understand ,  I will get the books I am looking for eventually, I am a very patient guy :)

I'll talk to my local USPS Postmaster and see what she advises. Would really like to open up the sale to the largest audience as possible.

    Thanks for the info!

:peace:  I see you are in Tokyo, I have no idea how to ship things there. I have shipped to Canada and it's a pain. I was planning on this being a USA only sale unless it's easy on both me and the buyer. Any advice would be welcome!

too bad looking for a 9.8 hairless cat ...

Actually it looks more like human hair along with part of a finger. May explain the red spots on the label

I don't call him Scratchy for nothin'.

I'm looking for a resource I can use to identify actual release dates for certain books. Currently I'm trying to find the actual release date for Professor Xavier and the X-Men/Over the Edge Flipbook. This was a newsstand only release in the mid-1990's. At best I'm able to find is Nov 95, but that is the "cover" date. The indica also refers it as the publishing date, but we know (generally speaking) that means the book was at least released two months "ish" beforehand.

Mike's Amazing World has quite a bit of information regarding "on sale" dates:

I think most collectors now a days are key collectors, where I feel your older collectors are run collectors. Your non-keys from the SA are not as collected. When I was putting together my X-Men, many of the non key silver age issues in 9.4 where less than a modern hot book in 9.8.

Not sure of that from watching the results from the auction houses the past 20+ years. They seem to move an incredible amount of SA "run" books on a regular basis even now. I'd venture to guess that 75% of the auction lots are not keys. Prices on run books also seem less volatile, which may make it less appealing to some.

This is in no way a knock to key collectors -as usual, collect what makes ya happy!

Hopefully there will be a super-inclusive specimen for my budget.
I would need a first page signature, of course. ( get that bc provenance, y’know )

There's a lot of super-inclusive specimens in the raw box :)

As for the sig, that'll cost ya an extra tree-fiddy.

Great news Mike! Thanks for your help in finally making this happen. Twenty years ago I was trying to get cgc to start identifying which version it was before encapsulating it so it would be clear which version of the book I would be purchasing. The people in charge at that time wanted to keep this information hidden from the buying public. Are grader notes free to access or does CGC still charge for them?

Grader Notes are now free and publicly available using the Cert lookup tool on the CGC home page.

  9. Well Guys, after a couple weeks of rumination, I've decided to pass on my PHM collection to new stewards. A lot of these books I've had for 20+ years and I ain't getting any younger.

Over St. Patrick's day weekend, I decided to "air" out the collection from the Vault. After I blew the dust off the top of the boxes, I tried to remember when the last time was that I had looked at them. Judging by the layer of dust, it had to be several years.

I then decided to update my database with the few new books added (and a few sold to @Sweet Lou 14) - noticing the last update was May 2018!

While I did open every box and check out each book to make sure the database info was still valid, that feeling wasn't there anymore. Until I opened my box with my Marvel Mystery Comics & Human Torch Comics - that made me smile. So, I'm going to slowly add to those titles (and I mean slowly because it takes as much patience for the books I can afford to come to market) and enjoy the thrill of the hunt once again.

The short box of PHM raws will be blown out here once my OSPG arrives (thanks to @KirbyJack for sending me some screenshots to get started). Gonna try and do some cheap bundles to avoid excess shipping hassles for both me and the potential buyers. I'll give you guys a heads up before I start the sales thread or feel me to hit me up if you have any gaps you want to fill.

I have been picking up collected PHM masterworks, so I can still enjoy reading the material and have it on hand for research purposes (you ain't gitten' rid of me that easily ). But I'm going to shed the PHM's in order to generate a war chest for my Timely passion as well as add to my equities funds.

Been working with Jason at ComicLink and it looks like they want to include my PHM slabs in the upcoming May Featured Auction, so I'll be taking a trip up to Portland, Maine real soon. I looked into shipping and insuring 3+ full short boxes, but the cost & risk of damage made me uneasy, plus I hear Portland is a really nice place to get a good bowl of clam chowder (I've never been there).

It's been a long strange trip for sure, but I feel it's the right time to let someone else get the enjoyment I once did from this awesome era of the Timely/Atlas/Marvel saga :headbang:
