  1. As always thanks again Bob. I’ll try to get pics/scans of the front and back covers post pressing
  2. These are off for a clean and press then getting graded and will share grades when they're back. Unfortunately no scans of the back cover yet. All feedback is appreciated and thanks in advance. Cheers Chris
  3. Wow great sleuthing. I copied the words directly and letter by letter except for the spelling of centrefold as I’m Canadian eh. I’m not sure if it’s poor form to disclose where I saw the book as I don’t want to potentially upset the seller but it’s in an upcoming auction. It’s probably going to be expensive (at least in my world) so I always try to get notes to help me decide. it’s tempting as I otherwise like the book, I just don’t like the idea of rust.
  4. You guys are beauties...needed to hear it/see it and appreciate the feedback
  5. I’ve avoided books with “Rusty Staples” but am looking at a key silver age 7.0 for my private collection. CGC notes indicate “staple rust with small stains at centrefold”. Wondering how much of a perceived negative this is by other, more knowledgeable collectors? Where would it rank against things like stamps, writing, marvel chipping, fingerprints, stains? Thanks in advance for your time
  6. If you haven’t seen it already, there’s a 7.0 for sale here
  7. Someone was inquiring about the cost of a 7.0 in the silver age threads
  8. I’ve felt your pain just not with CGC. Yours is a horror story that anyone reading your post will take note of. Also, it’s easy to criticize your use of language - we’ve all had moments of helplessness and frustration. Having said that, you need to figure out how to get out of this mess. Talk to them. CGC=good people. Cheers
  9. I’m a fan of xmen also but there are multiple copies (no disrespect intended, especially to buyer or seller) of 6.5’s for much less available online. Am hoping it’s the Kirby sig that pushed it or maybe something to do with HA auctions somehow fetching higher prices? Just seems a bit much...but what do I know.
  10. I can’t quite figure out this hobby just yet...0.5 Sold for $1350 but a 4.0 sold here for $2500 a couple weeks ago. I’m going back to collecting marbles.
  11. A 6.5 OW sold for just under $13 on CC. I know the book is doing well but this has to do with Kirby's sig, right? https://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=772399
  12. So I’ve reached out to the seller ssking what his motivation was. He declined to post it himself but was fine if I shared his reply, which was: New message from: pramood123 (87) I am collector and I was interested in buying a 9.8 copy myself knowing it is not that rare. I purchased one for $400 and one for $500. However, Many sellers cancelled my order after I made payment saying the item was out of stock and I know they all lied. They put it on sale later and I noticed few new ebayers doing shill bidding on them. I own a 9.6 copy myself that i bought before the rumors came out. I felt I need to make buyers aware of these false marketing tactics. My intention is not to downgrade the book but to point out the greed and devious business practices. Tow days ago, one comic bookseller (Sean Husvar of Sleeping Giant Collectible based in Buffalo, NY) made payment on two of my Eternals #1 CGC 9.8 listings even thought he knows they are not for sale! He lives in Buffalo which is 8 hrs away from my place. He purchased and paid for two of Eternals # 1 listing even though my listing says it is not for sale and available for local pick up only. He was one of the seller who had CGC 9.8 copy listed on his sleeping giant website and took it off after I placed the order. Its people like him that made me do it. Hope I answered your questions.
  13. Not sure where to post so I thought I’d try here (sorry if it’s in the wrong forum). HA has an x1 7.0 (trying to get into a 7.0-7.5 from a 5.5) that I was looking but the cover seems faded...especially across the top “X-men”. Could this possibly be a poor scan? 14. Congrats J. Happy to see you complete a great run and thanks for sharing such an epic set. Great story from a great boardie ??
  15. In a way, these variants are doing some of us s favour. $2,000 for a variant is $2,000 less available to drive up the cost of books I collect and/or want.
  16. What do I know.but in my opinion and If I was keeping it, yes. If you're looking to sell I'm not sure.
  17. Nice book wow...of course I just bought one last week and this pops up...if only this had been up 2 weeks earlier...Good luck with the sale
  18. A nice clean and press and I could see this in a 5.5 or maybe even 6.0. Please post grades when it getrs back
  19. Thanks fellas...just setup my 2 step authentication...beauty tip
  20. I could see this getting a 6.0 with a clean and press
