  1. added this bombshells cover - by Terry Dodson featuring Batwoman. Now - I am not a big fan of the classic Batwoman, but love the costume on this bombshells version -which takes its design from the game of baseball. see it on CAF
  2. I think if you convert to some 3rd world currency(Canadian dollar - eh?) it may already have crossed the million threshold.
  3. any opinions on the kirby thor? it is from a later period -but was it a bargain at less than $35k? will it show up on a dealer site or flipper page any time soon? for my part - lost out on the MOKF cover. No nostalgia on that one - which is why I didnt go higher -but it had cool action and that giant dr.doom face added to the mood. Also lost out on the DR.Who cover- which was a very cool piece. Just more than I ever thought I would want to spend on tv adaptation artwork. with respect to the ms. marvel cover - I loved that one too -but the main figure was small and not too detailed. The rest of the background was wonderful and if ms.marvel herself was more finished looking - the cover may have gone even higher.
  4. ha ha. that's the problem with poles. can' have all options or they get too long.
  5. if you are using other - tell us what it is here in the comments. Also - feel free to let us know if you are active in many areas of art collecting. when it comes to comic art - I mostly go for superheroes - but have a minor interest in 80s Indy titles - which you might classify as humour or fantasy.
  6. this is the 2nd part of the poll - here you can state your subject of interest.
  7. this is part one of 2 part poll. the focus here is on time period of art that you collect the most or are most passionate about. obiously you may collect art from many periods - but asking here what is your #1 focus there is a second poll asking about the type of art you collect the most. check it out.
  8. so can anyone explain if they have online bidding? And how it' set up/one can use it?
  9. Was the guy who played cable a good match? Still have to go see it.
  10. So with regards to US auctions: - with Clink the seller gets 90% of the hammer price. And at heritage the seller gets at most 84% the final(with juice) price if they negotiated a zero % seller fee - or appox 68% of the final hammer (with juice) if they are paying the full seller fee. Example. If an item sells for $100 at Clink - seller gets $90. If an item sells for $100 ($84 + 19%) the seller who negotiated zero fees gets $84. The seller who still has to pay a 19% seller fee only ends up with $68. That' $90 the seller gets at clink vs $68 at HA. So if my example is accurate - it comes down to this - can HA by virtue of what it does get much higher ending prices for the same items? If yes - they need to do so by a good margin to overcome the fact that they have so many fees. Feel free to correct any errors
  11. Just posted Charles Addams - The Addams Family art. Been a fan of the show since I was a kid. Loved the humour. Around the time the movies started coming out I discovered the panel cartoons by Addams via a book called My Crowd. As a fan of Gary Larson's Far Side - I fell in love instantly with what was clearly a predecessor. This is advertising art that is almost 40 years old. CAF LINK HERE.
  12. Thanks for the pics @AnkurJ. Do you know - was the alien worlds, asm 299 etc.. in that pic just for show? Or were they priced? And if so - do recall any of the prices? Also - who is the vendor in the 4th image? Are they on Caf?
  13. I didn' ask - but I got the sense they were under 100 each .
  14. I think with the 40 paintings- if it' not all the same guy - then its not too much. It' Like having 40 different comic pages.
  15. first off - huge congrats on this collecting goal/milestone. Now the question - are you happy with just one? or is this the start of a greater obsession?
  16. not sure what the gasp choke is for?for sure Liefeld art is not for everyone -but Deadpool is a modern phenom and this is his first appearance - and it is already almost 30 years old. no one needs to be surprised.
  17. Had a fun conversation with a friend the other day. He told me he recently picked up 65 pages by the same artist. The most I have by one artist is 12 pieces, and personally I feel that it's already too much. 1st off - I feel greedy because I am hoarding to some extent and 2nd - when the time comes that I need to sell or my family sells - there may be too many piecess by the same artist to unload. All my eggs in one basket so to speak. Having told him this, he confided back that he has hundreds of pieces by another artist and that he would gladly buy more if he could - even though this artist and the run he did is not high value. I mentioned Spidey is my favorite and that I couldnt afford to buy tons of that. He brought up Mike Burney and his Amazing Spiderman collection. As a fan - He went after it when others didn't. Now a lot of the best stuff is tied up in one spot. Anyhow - what are your opinions on this? What is too many? Is there such a thing even? Any other related thoughts?
  18. Just added - Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez dps from Superman Vs Wonder Woman. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s I tried to find work by this artist- but it semeed hard to come by. Lately I have been very lucky to find some pieces I really enjoy - including this fun yet silly fight scene between two DC icons. Check out the final Super pose. If that were reversed and it was WW - it would be sexist! Just saying (because as a comic fan - I am not bothered by polital correctness). CAR LINK to the art
  19. Loved the back and forth in the spotlight. Sounds like you guys are in tune with each other and your collecting.
  20. Hi If you have an Elvira cover that you want to sell- from the 1980s DC run - please contact me. Not looking for interiors or non-DC runs. Cheers D.
  21. Nothing special to me. I just like dd. And was curious about it because of his eBay presence doing sketches
  22. One of the pieces I was following by didnt end up winning was a Marvel Age cover by Lee Weeks. it Featured Deadpool and Cable and seemed to do not bad. Considering the movie is around the corner -who knows if the price was affected by that or not. Marvel Age was essential an advertising magazine for Marvel -but as a kid I collected it religiously because it was priced very cheaply and before the internet - it was a great source for marvel news. ended at $2100. the other piece - I didn't track but seemed to be over $700 on auction night was a daredevil page by MC Wymen. MC is a regular seller of commissions on ebay - so it was interesting to see one of his pages for sale. I think he's still got it. If anyone knows what the page closed for or has an image of the page - please post a reply.
