  1. I was going to mention you in the post as I knew you would be the one to know. Clearly you are all knowing. Ha ha
  2. Have you ever met alex saviuk. He sells spidey strips this way. $125 + $75 for every image of spidey. Soif he appears in 3 panels - add $225. Plus other fees for cool villains or friends. Talk about a la cart.
  3. I didnt go back and check - but was this exact item up in the past 12 months at a previous clink?
  4. Impossible - aren't we all just 26 with x year's experience? Got your point - but as many have already polled - will consider the change if we do this again in a while.
  5. Not sure if this has been done before - but either way - could be fun to figure out. So the question is how long have you been collecting - but I would like to add - consistently- full fledged - deeply interested in the hobby. If you got a sketch at a con when you were 10 but didnt start actively collecting (searching out and buying art) until you were 30 - start the count at 30.
  6. Thanks for the back story. I too wax watching it - but the mote time passes - the less I enjoy Hitch's art. Not sure why - but thats why I kept away in the end. Re: cap shield cover - while its cool conceptually - I for one buy art with characters I like. Not graphic design or concept pieces. You are right about it being a great tin though.
  7. I collect Harley art from that run - and that cover didn't do anything for me. Even though the price was low - I am trying not to bid on anything that I really like artistically or have strong nostalgia for.
  8. not sure if those other pieces were superior artistically, but context/subject wise- you may be right.
  9. Auction is underway - good luck to everyone. This is the first clinkon a friday night - so we'll see how it goes.
  10. So all the items I posted are BIN. 2 have been for sale for a while. One was new. While I like all 3 - I am not worried that others can't find them. We are talking publicly posted items here. If you post about a live auction - that could be different because the price is not preset. In general - Not talking private deals here- so whatever you post - is already accessible via CAT etc.. If you are fearful - skip this thread. The idea here is to see what folks find cool and have fun in the process. Anyway - if anyone feels like playing along - I think it can be both fun and insightful into tastes of boardies.
  11. I know what you mean. On the other hand if you really are able to buy the art - you should just buy it. I mean - how many watchers are there that never pull the trigger. You bringing attention to a piece of art that you like but won't buy for either financial reasons or because you are holding out for something specific - can be a fun way to share in the hobby. I posted stuff I like and would buy if I had excess funds - but since I havent bought them - I know that I dont want them that badly except in this 'fantasy collecting' way.
  12. To help kick things off Under 1k- Argones -art from Margins (Mad) $750 Under 5k -Texeira - wizard cover $4k Under 10k- Quesada wizard cover $8k
  13. This post was inspired by the recent 8500 tale of 2 pages post. The concept is: imagine you had a ficticious amount of funds to spend on art right now. What would you buy? To make this more interesting - there are 3 levels of available funds 1. Under $1,000 2. $1,001-$5,000 3. $5,001-10,000 You can play in one,two or all 3 fund levels. How to play - simply find a piece(s) of art that you would buy within one or more of these categories. Ideally the item you pick should be a buy it now item. However to keep this fun - you can also pick auction items you believe will end up in the price range you chose. Be prepared to defend that - if others disagree. To play - state the price range (1,2 or 3) and provide a link to the item thats for sale online. If you can upload a pick too - that would also be nice of you. Hopefully as different folks post items they find for different price points we an see what $ can get you on the market today.
  14. Yes - but it will just make it all the more tacky.
  15. Ha ha. I knew I could figure it out. Was just trying to keep the conversation alive. Since you brought it up - I thought there might be some items that stood out for you and that you might want to comment on.
  16. Strictly C+D. It was a good rendition.
  17. I came in at 4100. Didnt win either. Sad on one end - happy on the other - as money not spent means more for the next piece of art.
  18. There is also the art of inking book by steve rude - that has inking examples of the same art by many different artists. Some look like the pencils, some add details and some add line quality.
  19. I have bought from Dave before and the art was always as described. Crazy good luck to save the $500!
  20. That is so true. Unless the asking price was way above market - thats when the seller may experience some reality.
  21. @Michaeld so what was the item? Re - question. Auction prices may only set market value when the pool of collectors on a piece is large. On ebay you can see the bids - onxe its over and see how many were serious bidders and at what level only 2 folks were left. Dont hink you can see this on HA or Clink. On the other hand - the final price may be lower without you. Just as with auctions you may back out of - their end price would have had to be higher for you to have won.
  22. Ok So you got a nice piece of art. Its framed. You dont want to sell the art cause its cool. But that frame - it touched the art. Value has rubbed off onto the frame. The more famous the art - the more valuable the frame. Make some cash by selling the frame. Keep the art. Forget crypto currencies - get virtual art value - from empty frames. It happens all the time - be part of the action. Turn $100 into $10,000. Amazing ebay find - click here!
  23. The Jusko Vampi was a commission. Not a cover - at least from what I recall. What does he charge for comissions? You may be able to get a very nice one at a good rate and even if its the same $- you will help the artist make a living. Joe is on CAF if anyone is looking to find him.
