  1. I just picked up the last issue of 1 at my LCS. He had at least 3 or 4 issue hung around for a full month.
  2. I have about a 9.6 than needs grading. Why must CGC be so slow at times.
  3. Is there a complete list of Campbell covers that are official covers, not store or JSC website exclusives?
  4. For laughs, the All New Wolverine variant is still for sale at $30 for the pair, but yet from our friends at eBay...... http://www.ebay.com/itm/All-New-Wolverine-1-X-23-J-SCOTT-CAMPBELL-JSC-VARIANT-Cargo-Hold-Color-Sketch/262124385880?_trksid=p2045573.c100034.m2102&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20131003150253%26meid%3D7345aa5d71e44dd58e7e32fc4548b5ba%26pid%3D100034%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D121805168014
  5. one of my favorite subtly inappropriate covers. Not a very attractive Amanda Waller. Amanda Walker was unattractive until her character redesign for the new 52.
  6. i'd have to double check my thread, but my recollection is that i sold a #1 here for over $30 like a year ago and it was not better than a NM, so i don't think there was any "it might be a 9.8" thing going on. the book was warm for a while. I think Alias 1 will hold up as long as Netfilx/Marvel is using the character. Alias 24 is more of a gamble, if they kill him this season its one and done.
  7. Regarding the Extraordinary X-Men Campbell variant. A lot of people are focused on the X-23 variant and this one is flying under the radar. Not much buzz about it at all. Even JSC hasn't posted anything about it on his social media. However, midtown looks like it's already sold out. I can see this selling well after release date as well. Copies are selling for about $30 right now. From what I have seen most Campbell stuff holds its value fairly well, unless you get it right at the peak of the release wave. I would expect this to climb to 40 to 50 over the next 2 weeks, and settle in between 35 and 40. I personally like it, but picking Magic is a little strange.
  8. I think she is getting a new number 1. Who isn't, these days... Honestly, it was the only thing I could think of that was happening tho the character.
  9. Never chase the villain books, be it Jessica Jones, or Avengers Infinity War. A new hero not previously cared about, (Jessica), sure. A villain who is one and done, sell that into the hype 100% correct. I did not purchase an Alias 24. I did however add a high grade Alias 1 recently.
  10. Did you ever consider they are closing shop because they do not realize what their stuff is worth?
  11. As a side note. Do we know what the official variants for this look like? I have not been about to dig them up.
  12. Yes, breaking as of months ago when they hired David Tennant. You are now seeing a spike in the sales and value of Alias 24, the first modern Purple Man appearance. Apparently the print run is low in the area of 17k, and the book is now selling int he mid 20's raw.
  13. I am 100% with you and still think it is a scam!!! This book is worth $4000 to $5000, ASM 1 that they would give away I am saying is in the $1000 to $2000 range. So each box then contains $25 to maybe $100 worth of books. So being very generous he "sells" 35k worth of comics and brings in 99k assuming all the boxes sold. The company running this makes out like a bandit.
  14. Best mystery box win ever!!! +1 - let's hear the story. The story is I saw one of those mystery box contests show up on my Facebook feed. Initially, I did not do it, as I am 100% convinced that this stuff is fraudulent. Funny thing, I still am. So totally ignoring my best instincts, I buy two boxes at $99 each, which are guaranteed to contain 5 Silver or Bronze age Spider-Man comics per box, with AF 15 listed as the grand prize, and Amazing Spider-Man 1 as second place. The boxes were limited to 999 of them. The contests ends and the boxes do not ship on time. I contact the company running the contest, and am given the option to cancel my entry, again against my better judgment I do not. About 1 week later I get a priority package containing 10 Bronze age mixed title Spider-Man comics worth maybe $50 on a good day, with this slab tucked between them. I have never won anything except maybe 5 bucks on a scratch off ticket before, and think I just used up all of my winners luck this time around.
  15. I really like the Wolverine cover, but still question the value of a store variant.
  16. Sold mine too early last year. Oh well it was about a 9.0.
  17. I am well aware it is a 0.5, and marked restored (cover trimmed), but I get to join the club. The comic is at least complete. Best thing yet I won it in a mystery box contest!!!!
  18. Uh, apparently everybody . . . I think just your clientele. The dirty little secrete is for every buyer there is a seller. So for every seller that dumps a book when a big announcement is made there must be a buyer for the cycle to continue. Anyone who buys and sells comics is subject to the whims of popularity, character use, movie announcements, etc. Even if you go out of your way to avoid speculation, we are all still affected by it. The only people who do not risk being left "holding the bag" are either long time owners that make no moves when a book spikes, or it is a book we truly cherish and we do not care about market fluctuations. Another rare exception is the few books that are not just key books, but landmark books that will hold their value no matter what (Amazing Fantasy 15, Detective comics 27, Action Comics 1).
  19. How the hell can a unreleased book be selling for $75. Just hand me your money, it will be better spent.
  20. So basically ok to find a mid high grade in the $50 range, and if the rumors to not pan out, you can likely get that back. From what I am seeing on eBay FN are going for about 40 to 50, VF is 60 to 70, and VF/NM may get you over 100 in raw. Not a bad little gamble, not going to cost anyone their life savings. but to what end? Is the ROI worth it? Guessing that $1-$5 comics might go up to $20 or $25 seems pretty reasonable, but hoping a $50 comic might go to $61...of course I get everyone has their own strategies... That is why I called it a gamble. If you can grab a nice mid/high grade get it slabbed, you may be able to double (or more) your investment. I can't say if that is worth it to you or not. I see 5 slabbed sales recently on eBay 6.5 = $70, 8.5 = $195, 8 = $149, 8.5 = 120, 9.4 = $600. The latter three are from before the movie rumor. Seems like an ok bet to me.

  22. and we get this brand new eBay listing!!!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Avengers-1963-1st-Series-112-VF-NM-9-0-/361418647380?hash=item54263ae754:g:tJAAAOSwAYtWMaBi
  23. No it was the era of the skin tight purple costume.
  24. Not are all this week, but in my new quest to start collecting keys, and yes speculating some. I actually won the AF 15 (the graded one ) in a contest!!! Some of these seem CGC worthy.
