  1. I really like Man of Steel. So I don't get the hate. You make a good point though on the critics vs. audience feedback. I think after Superman coming off a series of movie flops, audiences may have had this super-high bar that needed to be crossed in order to blow them away. - Intense storyline versus Superman saving kittens from a tree - Superman having to fight at least one character that could threaten him - No Lex Luthor for at least one film I felt the MOS overcame all of this. And included multiple characters that could take out Superman (including an amazing performance by Antje Traue as Faora-Ul). It also included the intense situation where Superman had to either kill what he saw as the last Kryptonian or lose his adopted planet. It may have been too much for the audience to take in. Add to this the death of Pa Kent through non-action, and this may have been the tipping point. I actually always liked the original way that Pa Kent died because there could be no action that would have saved him. It humanizes Superman because for that moment he was a normal person. Why Pa's death fails in MoS is Kent makes this sacrifice to stay secret for an extra year or two? That completely trivializes the death. I am indifferent on Superman killing thing, the decision was made. But there are other things that just did not work for me. Amy Adams was awful as Louis Lane, 90% of the time she was present there was no realistic reason for her to be there. Plus the final battle (again for me) was an overwrought CGI mess. How many building falling down or skidding on roads and tearing up the pavement can you show in one sequence. By the end of it I was just bored. This are just my feelings, as stated you are allowed your. DC has everything riding on this movie, and they are putting all there hope on Snyder who has given them one mixed reception movie. As a director he has shown he really is only capable of making one type of film. Marvel meanwhile slowly and smartly built things up creating buzz, but also a cushion of goodwill that came from previously well received movies. DC is taking a massive risk. I do think Marvel is starting to lose steam, and I hope they can recover from Age of Ultron. I can also see the entire movie comic book thing collapsing in the next few years. You had me up till there. Unlike BvS, the Civil War trailer had me pumped.

  3. The last few slabbed, complete, coverless copies have sold on eBay for 2500, 2550, and 2000.
  4. I kinda hated it. I am already sick of Eisenberg as Lex and he was onscreen for like 30 seconds. It just felt joyless, overly dark, and somehow low budget (which I know makes little sense). I know DC is going for a different feel than Marvel (and they should), but I did not care for Man of Steel, and this seems like it is going the same direction. Both Batman and Superman came across as completely unlikable and gloomy (Batman is allowed to be, but not Superman). Then they throw an over the top campy Lex at you which seems 100% out of place with an otherwise very serious universe. +1 I really hope this movie doesn't suck. +1. As long as Zack Snyder is directing these JLA-type movies, we're not getting anything better than MOS which was 7/10. Excessive CGI, all shot inside a studio warehouse with BS backgrounds, gratuitous destruction, and warping of characters (I am am so unimpressed with Eisenberg's portrayal of LL. unimpressed is fairly positive, i had it as embarrassing Mike go back to your wine an cheese. Man of Steel was one of the best superhero movie ever made. Stop your non-sense! And you are allowed to have that opinion, and if it is your favorite superhero movie great. The general consensus is that MoS was a marginal movie. I have also liked movies that other were so so according to wider audiences, and one happens to be Watchman by Snyder, so I do not have an inherent Marvel bias, nor am I a Snyder hater. As stated already it got a 56% on RT from critics and 76% from the public. By comparison Avengers got 92% critics, and 91% public. Batman the Dark Knight got 94% critics and 94% public. Ant Man got 79% critics, and 88% public. So looking at the numbers from both critics and the wider public, it is easy to find superhero movies the public likes better. I was just giving my opinion on the trailer. I was not impressed. I was also not impressed with Age of Ultron either, and I wanted so bad for that movie to be great.
  5. Thinking about the trailer more, it almost looks like a fan Youtube trailer as opposed to something put out by a major studio.
  6. Wow you must have a ton of customers ! that's a ton. Yeah my LCS had two when I was there, and I show up about 1 hour after books get put out. Not sure if he was holding a few for costumers (which he will do on request).
  7. Well they are trying to have some level of carry over from the 1st movie, and establish a villain as a persistent threat. Marvel did the same thing with Loki, and at time it seems like he is the only villain in the MCU. Then again Loki in the movies has been awesome, Zod in MoS, not so much.
  8. I took a closer look this morning, and do have the same damage that others are reporting. There is a crease extending about 1/8 of an inch from the top staple, top hole, and a definite indentation on the back from top to bottom that lines up with the polybag sealing. Too bad, because the rest of the cover, especially the corners are the best I have seen in a long time.
  9. For some reason the scenes with Lex weren't working for me, something off in the dialog. Maybe the addition of humor. I like the surprise addition of Doomsday. The acting was terrible. 1+ I thought all the acting was terrible. Could Henry Cavill come across as more board and flat as Clark Kent? Could Eisenberg have been more campy, it seemed like he should have been in the 60's Batman TV show. I liked Affleck the best, but again he seemed very monotone and one note. Ben Affleck will be the one saving grace in the film and the DC Film Universe. He is a better director than actor and I hope he has a chance to direct his solo Batman film. It may be too much to pull double duty though. Well somebody needs to be at this point. Turning the keys over to Zack Snyder after the so-so reception to Man of Steel is looking like a bad move. If this movie is not a big hit, I am not sure where that leaves all of WB's plans they have mapped out. It seems as though Snyder is trying to re-imagine the DC universe for movies rather than translate and adapt it to the big screen. Which is unfortunate, because the latter approach is working very well for DC on TV right now. People may hate Disney, but giving Whedon control has worked extremely well (although I was disappointed with Age of Ultron). He just gets it and understand both the comic audience as well as the mainstream one. Not sure that Snyder does.

  11. I did not see any damage on the one copy I purchased, will need to look again. Got the Inked BW version. I am happy with that.

  13. Some of the best color design was done in the last couple years they were in business. 66 and 71 are my favorites of that bunch I want all of these. Until recently, I knew nothing about GA, but the Fiction house cover art is just amazing. I really want 66 and 69.
  14. Does anyone else get a feeling that there could be a 5th Defender? Hellcat anyone?
  15. Or me. I missed out on this book. If anyone has a NM+ copy PM me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CGC-9-8-Infinite-Crisis-Fight-For-The-Multiverse-1-Variant-Harley-Quinn-/121825471256?hash=item1c5d5d2b18:g:0UwAAOSwuTxV8OKv I need to put up my 9.8 SS (both Dodsons) I have the entire 2000 run of Harely Quinn's first solo series where the Dodson's did the 1st 16 issues or so. The first issue is at CGC right now and is SS, unfortunately only has Terry Dodson's sig on it. Should be at least a 9.4 maybe a 9.6.
  16. I love that Sun Girl number 1. Was there a problem with the printing register with that issue? I have seen several other copies where the red is definitely out of alignment?
  17. Love this thread. GGA may be the area I look to start in GA.
  18. Has become a trash can just recently? I think it is more like a flea market, a lot of good mixed in with tons of bad, and you just have to be educated about your items, and as careful as possible.
  19. Sometimes characters work better in one medium than another. Granted it is usually they work in books or comics and suck on the screen, this one just goes the other way.
  20. I do not think that the Alias vs NYX 3 comparison is that accurate. NYX has risen steadily with no real rumor of a TV or Movie attached. It has been far more gradual and steady as the character has grown in importance in the comic universe. Alias 1 did not really start to rise until the initial TV rumors back in 2011 and really started to pop once Netflix confirmed the series. Now that does not mean I think either book is going to crash. Alias should have a little more growth in my opinion, but Marvel needs to continue to use the character. Jessica is still a c list character in the comic universe, while Laura is now being promoted as an A list comic universe character. Now if Laura ever gets rumored for a screen, NYX 3 could go absolutely nuts, so I still think that book has more room for future growth.
  21. I am getting the feeling that there will be five defenders in the Defenders series.
  22. How much did you think it should sell for? I cant answer this question without being perceived a capitalist. So Ill say this: Being that this it the ONLY 9.9 on the census and the only listing for such a (popular) item in that grade, the seller made the mistake of listing it at a 1500. Esp since he is accepting offers. I believe that if he listed it at, say, 3500 or 5000 he wouldve gotten higher offers. It is the only 9.9 yet. Yet is the key word here. Yes, I expect a few more to show up. It will never be a high volume item. Even if 4 or 5 more are found, I can not see that having a profound effect on value.
