I have issues of SOJOURN #1 and #2, the 1977 publication of the Joe Kubert School in Dover NJ. Contains work by Kubert, Aragones, Giordano, Elias, Wildey and each issue has a huge color poster by Steve Bissette, predating his work on Swamp Thing. These are large... they fold open to 24” x 18”. The huge color Bissette posters are worth the price of admission alone. These are uncirculated copies from the school itself. The #1 issues are in fine condition and the #2 issues are VG. Cool find!

I waited years to get a copy of this around 2005-2010. I was willing to pay decent money for a low grade copy and it never came my way. This is one reason why I gave up on pulps... I really wanted to get this one. Even though the cover is flat out terrible!

It's possible that it's due to pulps having such a long history in westerns. They go back to the 1870s at least. Here's a 1910 Jesse James "thick book"/dime novel from my collection below. I have older ones from the 1880s but I don't think I have scans currently.

Some books that I've sold over the past few years:

I love pulps, but was never able to find a good way in. I think it's a combination of there being too many great covers and having too rigid taste (I like horror, spicy, weird menace, etc.). I always found these top covers to have high prices in decent (not falling apart) grade. If they have skyrocketed over the past year or two, I doubt that I'll be purchasing, unless prices come down at some point due to older collectors selling books.

I have here a very fine copy of the scarce and sought after POCKET GUIDE TO CHINA which contains an 11 page mini-comic by Milton Caniff (creator of Steve Canyon and Terry and the Pirates) titled "HOW TO SPOT A JAP". Published by the U.S. Government Printing Office in 1942 for the War and Navy Departments. Story is focused on determining the difference between Japanese and Chinese when experienced in the field of battle. Controversial and ridden with stereotypes. These were intended for use by servicemen/personnel overseas, not for domestic use. 75 pages total. Pages are in excellent condition. Book seems unread. This is a seriously nice copy of this book... a good candidate for sending to CGC. They will encapsulate these books. Only the very slightest corner and spine wear. THE SHADOW - with STERANKO original painted covers Volumes 1-23. 23 volumes total. These sublimely beautiful paperbacks were published between 1974 and 1978 by Pyramid/Jove and feature some of the best work that Steranko ever did. All the books appear to be unread. No spine reading creases. No writing and no tears, square and flat. Books range from VF to NM with only slight wear, nothing major. Some foxing to page edges. My iPhone didn't do a great job of capturing the bright color of these books. I can provide some scans on my flatbed if you'd like. Only minor edge wear, bottom or top of spine wear and minor nicks. Book #1 has a light crease on cover, but that's the only one. This is a fantastic set of books that came from a single owner. Steranko Shadows are becoming very difficult to find in beautiful condition, and a set like this is extremely tough.
