  1. I agree. HT #5 has been an underrated cover for a long time. One of my favorites! Almost 15,000 posts and 13 years ago, it was the book that started this thread! Still have it
  2. Are you waiting for Captain Flight 11's to become easier to find? I can't remember the last one of these in such nice condition that I saw for sale. GET IT!
  3. Another easy transaction with Bradd! Highly recommended Boardie! Thanks again!
  4. Probably this one... Weird Mysteries #5. One of the greatest PCH covers, killer Wolverton interior story, and an editorial by the publisher about comic book censorship.
  5. ALL PRICES REDUCED ON REMAINING ITEMS: STERANKO ON CARDS (SIGNED) - $85 GENII 1962 AND 1964, WRITTEN, DESIGNED AND ILLUSTRATED BY STERANKO - $149 for the pair! (killer price) EARLIEST STERANKO INTERVIEW - $35 1960 MAGIC ILLUSTRATION COVER (EARLIEST STERANKO COVER, RARE!) - $120 RARE CRIME MAGAZINE WITH STERANKO PHOTO COVER - $120
  6. The following are SOLD to JustJimN! Thank you! Fiction Illustrated #3 Chandler graphic novel Steranko: Prince of Darkness
  7. The most ardent Steranko collectors not only don't have this book, they don't even know it exists: This is a copy of the super rare crime magazine featuring Jim Steranko on the cover posing as a criminal packing a .38 caliber pistol holding a hostage by the neck. Circa late 1960s / early 1970s. Magazine is complete and in VF condition. Cover is complete and attached. No loose pages and no writing except for small numbers at top of front cover, likely an arrival date used by the magazine seller. Has a couple small tears at spine and some light toning to white front cover. Very clean and flat! RARE magazine. Have Jim sign it! I blacked out the title, but rest assured, the book is in uniformly VF condition. $150 REDUCED TO $120!
  8. How about this one... The earliest biography/interview ever done on Jim Steranko. Featured in a scarce, limited print-run magazine well prior to his Harvey and Marvel comic book years, and mentions pre-Harvey comic book work! Discusses his magic career up to that point in-depth. Biography is two and a half pages long. Lots of information you'll never find anywhere else. I believe this magazine features the first photograph of Steranko in a national periodical. Magazine is complete and in NM condition. Shown below is a portion of the interior. $45 REDUCED TO $35!
  9. Have you seen this? Doubtful! Very early JIM STERANKO illustrated cover from 1960 Features amazing full illustrated cover by Jim Steranko, published before Steranko on Cards! I believe this to be the first published cover ever done by Steranko. Illustration is signed vertically "STERANKO" at middle bottom of front cover. Includes killer photograph and biography on interior page. RARE! $150 REDUCED TO $120!
  10. In 1962, Steranko published STACKED DECK (as part of Genii magazine), a 20 page book of revolutionary card magic that was written, designed, illustrated and photographed by him. In 1964, he upped the ante with STERANKO'S WORLD OF ESCAPES (part of Genii Magazine). 47 pages written, designed, photographed and illustrated by Steranko. Yes, it's true that Steranko influenced Kirby to create Mister Miracle. These books are super rare, needless to say. Highly sought after by hardcore Steranko collectors. I'm going to sell these books as a pair: 1962 issue: Fine+ condition, flat and glossy with beautiful pages. Has small spine splits at top and bottom. 1964 issue: Fine+ condition, flat and glossy with beautiful pages. Has small abrasion at top of front page. Interior pages are brighter than shown in the photos. The glare from the reflection makes it difficult to photograph. The covers are scanned with my flatbed scanner. $175 for this pair of rare books. REDUCED TO $149 FOR THE PAIR!
  11. This is a copy of the super rare STERANKO ON CARDS, first 1960 printing. SIGNED by Jim Steranko. Entire 102 page book was designed, written and illustrated by Steranko when he was only 22 years old. Includes Steranko photo on cover. This book is legendary among card magicians and very sought after. This book is in fine condition. Pages are very nice. It was printed with a clear plastic front and back cover and a plastic comb binding. Clear plastic is turning darker in some areas. Plastic comb is broken in one spot, but doesn't affect readability. This is the only reason I wouldn't grade as VF. Super scarce. $105 REDUCED TO $85
  12. Next up is the auto-biographical Graphic Prince of Darkness that Steranko self-published, designed and produced in 1997. This book is full of art that had never been released before or since including: Pencils to a never published story in the "Stroke of Midnight"-style that was intended for Marvel Original cover to Tower of Shadows #1 that was never published Storyboards for Coppola's Dracula and many more... and a ton of unbelievable and outrageous biographical material. This is a must-own for any Steranko fan. When released, this flew completely under the radar and was missed by most Steranko enthusiasts. This is a straight-up NM copy. Fantastic, unread condition. $50
  13. Fiction Illustrated #3, Byron Preiss 1976 CHANDLER: RED TIDE by Jim Steranko, 127 pages VFNM, absolutely killer copy. They are never this nice. Bright pages unlike most copies which are tanning. You won't find a nicer one. Considered groundbreaking, and highly influential, it is Steranko's longest self-contained graphic storytelling work. It is some of Steranko's best work in any medium. Hard to find and much harder in this condition! The reprint to be released (at some point by Dark Horse) will be computer colored. $75 SOLD!
  14. I'm back with even more wonderful Steranko oddities and rarities... including a few items things that I am sure have never appeared here on the Boards before. beats PMs. Probies not welcome. Shipping is $6.00 for Priority Mail (to U.S. addresses) for any number of items. Overseas and Canada shipped at exact USPS shipping rate, no extra handling charges. Minimum order for overseas and Canadian buyers is $50. Here we go.... to the Jaunty Jim archive...
  15. While these books aren't under the radar, I do think that they are eventually going to be reconsidered. Master Comics with Mac Raboy covers/interiors, particularly between issues #21 and around #36. I can't believe that these books don't have a higher profile in the hobby. Just look at that run of covers! I think that #23, #26, #27, #32 and #34 are among the cream of the crop of GA hero covers. And add Captain Marvel Jr. #4 to that list.
  16. Another type of acceptable trimming? Bound volumes.
  17. This book received a big boost following the Gerber volumes, but then faded a bit. I think it's due for a big surge. All-time killer L.B. Cole cover! This must be one tough book in anything 5.0 and above. The majority of copies have rough and or brittle spines (as per the norm for Continental books including Suspense and Terrific). My copy looks very similar to the one shown here.
  18. I agree with that. Scarce book. I don't know if I've ever seen anything but low grade copies.
  19. I think TOT15 is right where it should be due to not being as scarce as other top pre-code covers. HA sold two file copies last year in 9.2 and 9.4 for around 5K. There seem to be many high-grade copies out there.
  20. Now the recreation of Blue Bolt 105 on the other hand.... a thing of beauty:
  21. I'm a big Cole fan, but the word balloon, green bar on the left, and text on that cover is a distraction. I much prefer Suspense 8, Mask 1 and 2, Contact 12, etc. I even prefer many of his Star books.
  22. I don't recall the other Mask 1 recreation. I thought this was the only one. In CBG, Cole advertised that he would do recreations in one of three sizes... I believe 1x, 1.5x and 2x, if I'm not mistaken. I've never seen two of the same cover (in the same or different sizes). This is just my observation and am curious if others have seen two of the same cover.
