  1. Yes I can't see me selling this one anytime soon and will be interesting to see what the 6.5 copy will bring at comic connect auction. When I purchased my copy raw many years ago the dealer graded close to vf as I recall. It truly is nice inside with sharp white pgs. The back cover is nice as well with no creases. As I recall it had a very slight tear at the staple but cover attached well. Remember this book has only one staple in the middle as war measures were conserving materials at the time. I guess the slight staple tear and a slight bend top right corner of front cover brought the grade down. Opps my mistake I just verified it is a two staple book and I think the staple tear was on the top staple

  3. I remember purchasing this RAW long time ago for $900.00
  4. Now I have competition to find a FRONT COVER I will congratulate you on your treasured pick-up
  5. I would be fibbing to say the Bat #1 is 9.4 unrestored so,,,,RESTORED!
  6. This book seems scarce in higher grade, only 3 higher from CGC census to date. The scan missed the full grade details, I can tell you it's a 8.0 with bright yellow with only a slight shadow upper right corner
  7. I purchased this from Metropolis "raw" at a Chicago Con about 12 years ago or so. I think they graded it VF- and priced just below a grand at the time. I hesitated buying it on the Saturday but by Sunday afternoon it was still at the table for me to purchase it. I inspected the book and agreed on the grade as well. Nice white pages with no folds inside but was concerned about possible color touch. Not because I could detect any but the blacks on the cover are stunning! Anyways off to CGC and came back 6.5,,close but expected at least a 7.0. I won't be parting with this one anytime soon
  8. Sick looking copy even the way it is. Pre robin tecs are a club I dont think I'll ever make it into Very nice books,,and much Appreciated!! Add this to the list and you have triplets
  9. When you're done with it, Yes,, you might have it some day,,but after I am long gone
  10. I remember buying this copy at the Chicago con many years ago,, Bought it raw at the time and it graded a nice 6.5,, No color touch
  11. I noticed the name "Beverly Lambeth" on the cover,, Wonder what she is up to these days
  12. Freaking sweet!! And you said it, tough is all I've ever heard of this book. Sweet pick up man! I wondered what happened...I had my snipe all set, and poof, listing ended... I am sure the seller will regret that, but my guess is brian did great on it and the book is rare in better than fine condition, but nothing "tough" about it in vg or lower...heck, I have had like 10 copies in the last few years, and we all know a certain boardie that has more than that Dang you sold all 10 of your copies? Did Bat-Hound scoop it all up? I did purchase one from Rick, a nice 3.0 but have not included it in the group photo yet.
  13. It was nice to be in the collecting world in the early 80's,, Most Batmans between # 101-130 could be had for less than $20.00 in decent grades,, I know this went for under $20.00 in the early 80's,,
  14. Disappointing census - No 27 .... We NEED a #27 to be flashed in this thread. It deserves it. There must be a boardie volunteering to showcase his #27 book here. C'mon ... we deserve it, - the thread and the posters deserve it. But then again what do I know ... Does my copy count? It's only missing the front cover
  15. I won these two books from Heritage just before we see the $$ multiples for these books,, The Detective # 31 was from the Feb/2005 auction and paid $6325.00 including the buyers premium.. The Detective # 35 was from the May/2006 auction and paid $5377.50 including the buyers premium.. I'm glad I won them when I did as today these books would be way out of my price range..
  16. I still think Detective # 33 should be valued 2nd to # 27 because of the origin significance.. Even though the cover is classic in its own right, for some reason the book is behind in popularity compared to issues # 29, #31 and #35 for example.. I still think the demand for the book is still there but not just as popular right now compared to the other three.. It must be the scarcity and the "ever more so" Classic covers of the #29, #31 and # 35 that makes issue #33 fall behind.. Can you imagine the VALUE of Detective # 31 would be if the origin was in that book instead of the # 33 ? Would it be realistic that Overtreet would have the # 31 a $20 Grand book in "good" if this were the case?
  17. It presents very well for a 3.0. I imagine the cover being detached was the factor there; great eye-appeal never the less! Would you mind if I asked how much you had to invest to pick it up? Yes,, this copy has nice eye-appeal and probably would be a 4.5? if not for the detached cover,,,The back cover is clean as well with no peices missing. I paid 5 grand at the time and had to pick it up while I had the chance.. I think it is a little bit scarcer than the Tec 31 and Tec 35 but current $$ demand is going to these two books right now...
  18. This one is for Detective33kid,,, I picked this one up a while ago in Chicago..
