  1. Sick looking copy even the way it is. Pre robin tecs are a club I dont think I'll ever make it into Very nice books,,and much Appreciated!! Add this to the list and you have triplets
  2. When you're done with it, Yes,, you might have it some day,,but after I am long gone
  3. I remember buying this copy at the Chicago con many years ago,, Bought it raw at the time and it graded a nice 6.5,, No color touch
  4. I noticed the name "Beverly Lambeth" on the cover,, Wonder what she is up to these days
  5. Freaking sweet!! And you said it, tough is all I've ever heard of this book. Sweet pick up man! I wondered what happened...I had my snipe all set, and poof, listing ended... I am sure the seller will regret that, but my guess is brian did great on it and the book is rare in better than fine condition, but nothing "tough" about it in vg or lower...heck, I have had like 10 copies in the last few years, and we all know a certain boardie that has more than that Dang you sold all 10 of your copies? Did Bat-Hound scoop it all up? I did purchase one from Rick, a nice 3.0 but have not included it in the group photo yet.
  6. It was nice to be in the collecting world in the early 80's,, Most Batmans between # 101-130 could be had for less than $20.00 in decent grades,, I know this went for under $20.00 in the early 80's,,
  7. Disappointing census - No 27 .... We NEED a #27 to be flashed in this thread. It deserves it. There must be a boardie volunteering to showcase his #27 book here. C'mon ... we deserve it, - the thread and the posters deserve it. But then again what do I know ... Does my copy count? It's only missing the front cover
  8. I won these two books from Heritage just before we see the $$ multiples for these books,, The Detective # 31 was from the Feb/2005 auction and paid $6325.00 including the buyers premium.. The Detective # 35 was from the May/2006 auction and paid $5377.50 including the buyers premium.. I'm glad I won them when I did as today these books would be way out of my price range..
  9. I still think Detective # 33 should be valued 2nd to # 27 because of the origin significance.. Even though the cover is classic in its own right, for some reason the book is behind in popularity compared to issues # 29, #31 and #35 for example.. I still think the demand for the book is still there but not just as popular right now compared to the other three.. It must be the scarcity and the "ever more so" Classic covers of the #29, #31 and # 35 that makes issue #33 fall behind.. Can you imagine the VALUE of Detective # 31 would be if the origin was in that book instead of the # 33 ? Would it be realistic that Overtreet would have the # 31 a $20 Grand book in "good" if this were the case?
  10. It presents very well for a 3.0. I imagine the cover being detached was the factor there; great eye-appeal never the less! Would you mind if I asked how much you had to invest to pick it up? Yes,, this copy has nice eye-appeal and probably would be a 4.5? if not for the detached cover,,,The back cover is clean as well with no peices missing. I paid 5 grand at the time and had to pick it up while I had the chance.. I think it is a little bit scarcer than the Tec 31 and Tec 35 but current $$ demand is going to these two books right now...
  11. This one is for Detective33kid,,, I picked this one up a while ago in Chicago..
  12. These two offerings are beaters but will hold demand and value regardless,, The first book was from Metropolis about 4 years ago.. The interior back page is interesting,,a piece of paper was glued to the interior back page. On the piece of paper are names and dates of different people.. It seems the book was maybe in a library, school or even a hospital and readers would return the book when they were finished and then logged in for another interested reader. The book is a return copy so it could have been donated to any number of places where it could be read over and over probably by children or even adults? The second book is a coverless beater won for less than a hundred bucks on ebay about 4 or 5 years ago..
  13. Yes another Pre Robin Tec thread but it's interesting to give insight about a book or books in question... I will start with these books: The first copy shown I bought from Metropolis around the year 2000... I remember seeing it on-line using a friends computer as I didn't have one myself at the time.. I remember taking down notes from the description of the book and was going to phone them the next day ready to order the book.. This copy is complete and displays very well with great cover qualities... The cover is completely split repaired with tape.. This next copy I lucked out a bit to say the least.. Way back in the late 90's I purchased a coverless copy of a Tec #36 from someone who was selling in Comics Buyers Guide..A complete but coverless copy was nice to have! About two years ago a Tec #36 Front and Back cover only surfaced on E-bay... I did win it and Married the cover with my coverless copy... A rare chance to find a cover only Pre Robin Tec is amazing....
  14. Buying that book has "win" all over it! Who was the dealer, I need to start frequenting them! The dealer was John Hauser,, He is one of the best dealers around in my opinion,, Customer service is his number one concern for sure,, I found his grading very strict to say the least and the prices on his books are reasonable.. I remember he held telephone auctions back in the day, He would advertise in Comics Buyers Guide and have a page or two listing of books he would auction. I won the Tec # 45 and this one:
  15. Great copy you got there! And oh man, I bet you got it for a deal when you got it. The grader must have been a rookie - or an old man on some drug. That is a 7.0 and it looks like a 7.0! Nice page quality on that one as well! (thumbs u I'm sure I paid $300.00 at the time,,, I think the dealer downgraded the book because of the name penciled on the cover.. At the time I think it was considered a big defect.. I lucked out on this one
  16. I remember at least 15 yrs ago or so I bought this "raw" from a dealer who graded this copy as a VG+,,,I thought the grade was a bit undergraded even though it has a name penciled on the top front cover... After submitting it to CGC, they graded it as:
  17. Detective comics # 35,,showcasing a classic splash page. A beater but interesting nevertheless:
  18. This is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Obviously I've seen high grade copies, etc. but it is really nice to see a somewhat (allow me to stress "somewhat") affordable copy of an AMAZING comic like that. It's a good thread you started.... I hope to see some other great coverless copies of Tec 27's and Action 1's just to name a few,,,
  19. A complete Detective Comics # 27 is out of reach for me so I settled on this. It is missing the front cover only,,,,
