  1. Michael Turner was the founder or Aspen. I'm sure his family is still part owners and get royalties. Steigerwald is also a co-owner.
  2. Sad Lemon comics emailed this to me... http://www.scottscollectables.co.uk/private-signings?mc_cid=50599ea061&mc_eid=fc83956405&utm_campaign=50599ea061-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_01_17&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_term=0_6006d35c39-50599ea061-8342745

  4. I still have that Wizard. It's was a salute to 80s issue and Pat Lee did an awesome Transformers. Thundercats, GIJOE, and Battle of the Planets along with others were also showcased.
  5. Yeah, I will say that the Superion sacrifice was devastating to me at the time reading them.
  6. Yeah, his communication isn't the greatest but I'm sure he's just really busy. He was at the Fan Expo and about a month prior he posted on Facebook that he was accepting commissions. He had prices and how to reach and pay him....he even had the blank cover already. I emailed him 3 or 4 times before he replied and accepted the commission. Dscott was facilitating the convention and picked them up for me for grading. Very nice guy, just seems really busy. Hope that helps ya.
  7. Thanks. Yeah. Kept seeing questions in here so I figured I'd help keep em out.
  8. I know that there is a great IDW Transformers thread, but as they don't like to discuss DW Transformers I thought I just start one. I started back into comics in my 20's because of the Transformers series that came out. I, like many, love the Transformers and I really liked the artwork and colors that took me back to a kid watching the cartoons after school. I actually met both Pat and Chris at a Botcon in Indiana and had some books signed at that time. I was a huge fan of the series and still have all the books I bought off the shelf. I didn't learn of the business dealings and the reason the company went out of business until much later after I had gotten out of comics again. It's unfortunate that things ended as poorly as they did from a business standpoint, but if it wasn't for this company's resurgence of a dead comic brand there wouldn't be IDW and their incredible series. I'm showing a couple of my recent books I've just received back from CGC. Feel free to share yours or any questions/comments you may have on Dreamwave's Transformers.
  9. Sharing a couple of commissions I just got in from CGC... James Raiz Alex Milne
  10. So JSC just posted pics of remarks he's done on his Gamora #1s. I feel like he's not putting backgrounds and leaving space specifically to have this option for people that want to pay $1000 for it.
  11. So a few days ago I received my Ghost Rider #1's from Frankie's Comics and most were in NM- condition except 1 of the B&W was crushed in the middle. I just received the same books from Sad Lemons Comics and they're all in NM or NM+....and can see all of them pressing to a 9.6 or 9.8. Anyone else order from multiple sellers and see a big difference in condition of their books?
  12. Not really due to the shady nature of the way Pat Lee ran it and his reputation right into ground. That's not to say that some of the DW stuff doesn't have some merit. I might go start another thread for the non-IDW TF stuff. OK, I wanted to make sure before I posted some DW slabs that have come in signed by James Raiz. Seemed like it was all IDW on here but I wanted to be sure. I don't really read the newer stuff...but was all over their series'. Thanks for the heads up...I'll keep an eye out for one if you start it.
  13. Just got an email from Sad Lemons saying that starting with Venom #3 they're going to start offering guaranteed CGC 9.8 copies of their variant books. That means probably less being distributed to other orders?
  14. Not a fan of this one. A lot of the ones he's doing lately are just figures with no background or even full bodies. Seems lately it's more about quantity over quality. I like his Spiderman work he does for Marvel more so than the store variants that have been coming out lately.
  15. 9999? he doesn't want to sell it It's 20% off now....someone jump on it now!!!
  16. Ok, let's get technical on it then... Both should be "Driver" because they both drive a vehicle...to "ride" is to not control what you're on. Also, neither are "ghosts"...the are possessed or cursed or demons, but not ghosts. So if we're getting technical, really they should be "Cursed Driver" or "Possessed Driver" or maybe "Demon Driver".....none of which are great so let's just stick with Ghost Rider.
  17. Ready for that tinfoil hat?! Take a look at the language used to describe the covers: Venom #1: Color B&W Secret Venom #2 Color B&W Symbiote It'd be really cool if the color and B&W covers were of the host, and the third cover a separate image of the symbiote of Venom. An email I got from one of the sellers said that they didn't want to use secret this time and is instead using "symbiote" but that it had nothing to do with the artwork.

  20. One of my favorite Venom covers. The "green slime" is venom...how can you call a villain "Venom" and not have venom? I asked him about the tongue a few years back. He said it was an accident. When he took over, he thought he had seen a long tongue on McFarlane's back cover of the trade for the series so he drew it. Wasn't til later he realized it wasn't there to begin with. I personally enjoy what Larsen did with the character. His "tweaks" have stuck with the character for years.
  21. I disagree...as much as I love McFarlane's work, his Venom lacked in the beginning. How do you create a character called "Venom" and not have Venom? I can do with or without the tongue. Larsen told me the tongue began by accident, BTW. Now, he's known for it. Originally Venom only looked like a juiced up black-suit Spiderman. Most agree...find 1 person that likes the 1:1000 Venom #1 cover.
