  1. Agree. The cover of Weird 2 has many of the hallmarks of Lou Fine. Except for the goon with the headgear at the bottom right of the cover -- his face looks "Simon-ized" to me, a bit more cartoony. But given how crazy and bewildering this cover is (what exactly is going on here??), I wouldn't be surprised if this cover was a paste-up melange of different images from the hands of both Fine and Simon, without much regard for creating a rationally coherent scene... Disclaimer: all idle speculation!
  2. Time stamp: my new avatar, from one of my favorite covers. I'm guessing y'all know which cover!
  3. That's a tough one no doubt. Great pick up! I never really noticed before -- that monster's got 3 arms!! And 2 more monster friends behind him! Mine looks very similar to yours, though yours has stronger blues.
  4. Thanks to everyone for their purchases! Books have been shipped. There's two books left. PRICES REDUCED BY 20%. Wonder Woman #23, was $240, now $192. Wonder Woman #25, was $350, now $280. I'll plan to close the thread tonight.
  5. Jumbo Comics #10 – 5.0 restored (slight) – ow/w pages – $1,200 ...... SOLD TO GEOFAN PER PM !!! One of Lou Fine’s greatest covers from Oct/Nov 1939. Overstreet designates this book as a "classic", which says a lot given that no other books in the Jumbo run received a "classic" designation. It's also a Gerber "7" = scarce (21-50 copies in existence), and GPA bears this out, with only 21 copies total on the census. This book just never comes up for sale. Well, almost never. The few recent copies have been snapped up at premium prices. This copy has tear seals, actually 12-13 small pieces of tape, on the inside front cover, so this bit of resto might be correctible. At the time of purchase I was told there was some color touch on the cover, which is difficult to detect, but might be some black touch-ups inside the black horizontal strip (where it reads "64 pages in full color") and near the left staple. If there is color touch, it was expertly done. This copy holds together well, with supple pages, GREAT colors, and is a fantastic read, with the origin of Sheena and her new costume, plus all the other stars of 1939 on interiors: Eisner, Fine, Powell, Briefer.
  6. Planet Comics #66 – 3.0-3.5 – ow – $300 .......... SOLD TO JASON SALE !!!!! Another iconic cover. And agonizingly hard to find. Great colors. Pure 1950’s sci-fi essence. This issue will be impossible to find within the next couple of years at any grade. Chip at middle of top cover, general cover wear. Those waves at the upper half of the book should press out just fine.
  7. Planet Comics #65 – 4.0 – ow/w – $375 .......... SOLD TO (you guessed it) RICKSNEATSTUFF!!! Iconic. Harder and harder to find these in the wild. Great colors, some wear on cover and spine, and stain on back cover.
  8. Planet Comics #56 – 3.5-4.0 – ow – $225 .......... SOLD BY PM !!! Ahh, another classic cover. Girls in tubes. Neat date stamp too. Definitely press-worthy.
  9. Planet Comics #53 – 5.0 – c/ow – $225 .......... SOLD BY PM !!! Classic cover used in SOTI. First Matt Baker work for Planet Comics.
  10. Wonder Woman #26 – 5.0 – ow/w pages – $375 .......... SOLD BY PM !!! Tigra Tropica appearance. Possible candidate for pressing.
  11. Wonder Woman #25 – 4.0-4.5 – crm/ow pages – $350 -----> NOW 20% OFF = $280 Paula von Gunther appearance. Prices are rising on this book.
  12. Starting off with Wonder Woman. Early issues of this title put a whole new spin on the concept of "women in peril". This title is still so undervalued, but prices are beginning to creep up, if GPA is any indication. Wonder Woman #23 – 4.0 – crm/ow pages – $240 -----> NOW 20% OFF = $192 Classic “Story from Wonder Woman’s Childhood” by William Moulton Marston. Possible candidate for pressing.
