  1. Here is the proof in the pudding, from the right side of the cover, above her oh-so delicate foot:
  2. Thanks for those insights. Checking Grand Comics Database, I saw that Iger was still Art Director at Fiction House. I wonder if Eisner tapped his old business partner to publish the Spirit, and, if Iger thought the title might be a way to energize the flagging fortunes of Fiction House? Interestingly, a lot of the Spirit stories at Fiction House were written by a young Jules Feiffer; perhaps Jules himself had a role in getting the title relaunched...
  3. I love that Strange Adventures 110 cover, even though it's Silver Age! One of Gil Kane's best IMHO.
  4. Hold on there, buddy! What story? There’s no stories! We all know a comic “book” has a front cover, a back cover, two staples as a shiny sparkly feature, and a big number on a white background.
  5. Ditto. That’s a superb cover! Maybe even the source of a new avatar?
  6. Oops. I gotta trust Junkdrawer on this one -- after all, his avatar is a horse, for Pete's sake!
  7. You can have visiting rights every other Tuesday... for a hamburger today.
  8. Such a spectacular book! That was one of my go-to books in case my original plan had flopped.
  9. My thinking exactly! I can almost pretend it's a solid mid-range 5.0!
  10. Thanks Josh! No worries -- I expected there to be a bit of a frenzy in the closing seconds. It's nice to know I had good company at the finish line.
  11. Thanks everyone for their shout outs. I'm extremely psyched. I agree with The Collector, the cover looks great for the grade, with vivid colors, and ow/w pages is an added plus. As per the grader notes, there's a coupon clipped out of the back cover. Fine with me! Give me back cover flaws any day!
  12. Apart from the Mile High... the first appearance of a complete copy of Fantastic #3 in about 4 years.
  13. Neat book! Curious... how/why did the Spirit — originally appearing as reprints (of the Sunday newspaper inserts) in Police Comics, published by Quality Comics — end up in the hands of Fiction House publications by 1952? Especially when signs of the demise of Fiction House were already apparent.
  14. Does aspirin soothe the symptoms of bibliosophia? and who’s Sophia by the way? ;-)
  15. Wow! That’s quite a score! Gorgeous!!! Lou Fine knocked this one way past the Polo Grounds fences.
  16. If cure thou seekest, there only one way is: the full Canadian spa treatment, as @jhutton2 so convincingly demonstrated!
  17. Oh, I've known that for a long time now! It's madness, I tell ya!

  20. My other Cap 40 Okajima is a Jaguar. No, wait, a Tesla. Or was it a VW Rabbit?
