Those labels indicate SS which isn’t what I’m talking about. I’m talking full green labels or full red label. In other words qualifiers vs verified

While I would prefer that CGC list the signers name on the label instead of just "name written on cover in marker" (most are recognizable and seen almost daily by them), I still like the CGC Green over the CBCS Red.

My reasons include: a reasonable estimate of existing copies (via census), price (via GPA) and above all, I prefer the look and feel of the CGC slab.

Question out of all the living artist, who is the most difficult or most expensive for say a fully body or bust sketch ?

does Alex Ross do sketches ? Don’t think I have ever seen one

His ASM 800 cover (or cover recreation) is available on his site for 25K.

I can’t wait till tomorrow to take a picture of my trinity . I am so happy finally got the sketch, made my day when I was able to get it last week through best offer and today when I opened the package , a major weight  I feel has been taken off my chest, saved search bruce timm deleted off eBay

That is an awesome sketch cover! Congratulations Jim!!

  4. I have been looking forward to this one for a while. Star Wars #1 Fan Expo Edition signed by Joonas Suotano "Chewbacca" with mini sketch, Ian McDiarmid "Emperor Palpatine", Billy Dee Williams "Lando", Ray Park "Darth Maul", Anthony Daniels "C3PO", Warwick Davis "Wicket", Julian Glover "General Veers", and in one of his last appearances... Peter Mayhew. A huge thank you to @Par2ch for his help with this endeavor.

In that case, everything I said is still true until you try to sell it.  I suspect it could actually limit the number of people who want to buy that particular copy... but some of those might be willing to pay more for it.  No way to know until it comes up.

I am not the sort of person who flips books for sale.... and I do love covers with fun stories. I just wanted to see other reactions to a signature gone....different.

If you didn't get it signature series'd, then all that really matters is if you like it.  You got a story and a memory out of it, and that's all I really want from my signed books.  I love the handful of "mini-sketched" books I've gotten over the years; they're nothing compared to full scale commission pieces but they always feel like the artist or writer is going out of there way to thank me for being a fan and I treasure them.

Here's a similar sketch I got from Matt Wagner on the last issue of Mage earlier this year:

Yes, this was witnessed for CGC.

  7. I am not sure how I should feel about this book from last week's Niagara Falls CC. I am a big Jim Starlin fan and it was so great to meet and interact with him throughout the weekend. I brought this Epic Illustrated #3 for him to sign and the signature went a bit awry. He did a small sketch in the area and resigned the cover, but the first attempt is still somewhat visible. Still, this might have been Jim's only sketch (unplanned) of the weekend. I do love this cover though.

  8. I love it when I see that Ken Lashley will be at a con. He is so great to interact with ....When I set up a commission,  it is our nature to want to pass by and see if your sketch is being done. Ken often pretends not to see you and then positions his hands to not let you see the sketch in progress. So it becomes a bit of a game..... which is fun. As for the "Variable pricing", it was a bit strange at first, but I think it allows people to get something cool that they can afford and still allows Ken to budget his time. Here is a back cover that Ken did for me at last years Nickel City Con. I paid a bit more for it because I was only there on Friday and had to get to Motor City Con on Saturday so Ken spent most of the Friday on it.  @Yoshi
