  1. One of my favorite Archie #1 issues is Archie Annual #1 from 1949. Here's my copy along with the Archie pin-up you received if you ordered it by mail. I really like the yellow and purple logo.
  2. It was Easter and he mistook it for a box of Peeps.
  3. I bought this copy about 10 years ago. They were still scarce but there wasn't much competition for them.
  4. Not Archie but in the Archie family, I picked up this Katy Keene #1 raw a number of years ago.
  5. I like the cover of Katy Keene #62 but it seems to me more of an nice sci-fi cover rather than GGA. I think it's kind of fitting and prescient that the mechanical monster might lead to Katy's demise and Archie killed the title with this issue.
  6. This is the closest US equivalent. Not for the artwork, just the gag.
  7. I bought this raw on ebay a while back and finally had it graded. It was sold as fine condition. It's always nice when they turn out better than the seller's grade.
  8. I also finally got a decent copy of this Millie issue. It's one of my favorite DeCarlo covers and it doesn't seem to turn up too much in decent shape.
  9. Here's a recent Timely addition. I collected all the other Timely girls like Millie, Hedy, Tessie and the others but I had never noticed this odd one-shot book from 1945. Dolly is an adult rather than a teen so there's a mix of stories of her chasing guys and trying to be a detective. Not sure where they were going with this character but except for a stray story or two in other books she didn't last long. Still a fun book.
  10. Sorry about that. I've been trying to complete the Andy/Ernie run which is really pretty much the same series. One series is about a guy named Andy, his twin sister Billie and his girlfriend Teddie. The other series is about a guy named Ernie, his twin sister Billie, and his girlfriend Teddie. I guess they thought Ernie would be a more marketable title than Andy.
  11. Here's one of the Andy issues that followed the Scream series. This is the Edgar Church copy of Andy #21. I don't have #20 but this one has the better cover of the two.
  12. A copy sold last November for over $1,500. That's quite a jump. #41 is the last issue that contains Millie. #42, the final issue, has a great DeCarlo cover with Millie and Chili but no Millie story inside. It's also the first cover to feature Millie's rival Chili. I found the link and it still worked: Joker #41 2017 Sale
  13. The back cover to Zeta Beta Tau Presents Archie and his Gang is pretty nice. I like the inside back cover as well. I'll add the front cover as well in case you've never seen it.
  14. Doesn't anyone compare the label to the book before encapsulating it? I wonder which title it's listed under in the census.
  15. Kathy #2 is different from the other issues because the cover is by Alex Schomburg. The original art for that cover was sold on ebay about 10 to 15 years ago although I don't recall what it sold for
  16. I finally had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Pepoy in person. I've bought some of his Afterlife with Archie covers from him in the past but have only communicated with him via email. I purchased these pieces of original art from him at the show. His covers are 15x22 in size and are always beautiful in their detail.
  17. Just received this. Still one of my favorite Duck covers. Being a PLOD made a 7.5 more affordable.
  18. I've always loved this cover. Not the gag so much but it has such a 1950's feel about it to me. Thanks for bringing this thread to life!
  19. I never paid much attention to the scandalous "How can a six year old girl marry?" blurb on the cover so I had to look. Katy's manager Danny is getting married to his fiance Tammy. They go to get their marriage license and she tells them she's 6 years old. She says she's a leap year baby so she's only had six birthdays. We can all breathe a sigh of relief that there was no scandal in Katy's world. I'm sure they wanted readers to think that Sis was marrying Jerry Lee Lewis or something.
  20. Also, for that lot of comics, Heritage lists the group of books as poor or incomplete. Millie #2 would rate as incomplete if it's the funny animal version. I can't see them grouping a high grade Millie 2 with a bunch of poor condition books.
  21. I think that's the remaindered cover version of Millie 2 that has a funny animal book inside. A number of those surfaced about 12 to 15 years ago. The covers are in nice shape but the interior is a Timely animal comic. These copies have a single staple through the book that's at the center of the cover. The real thing has two staples. All the copies I've seen of the real book have the staples properly aligned on the spine of the book, not towards the front. I would want to contact Heritage about the contents before bidding on it. Here are some pictures of both. The first 3 are the funny animal version, First is the front cover, then the inside back cover where the staple comes out and finally the first page. The 4th and 5th are the real thing; front cover and centerfold
