  1. I remembered that I had a scan of B&V #52 on photobucket so I can add that one:
  2. I have 4 Betty & Veronica pence copies. #52 through #55. For Little Archie, I have some pence stamped 25 cent copies but none actually printed with the price. I don't have scans of all of them yet. Once I get them scanned I'll post them. I'm heading out of town tomorrow for the week so it'll be another week or two before I can provide further info.
  3. I don't usually buy comics from Etsy but recently I ran across a copy of Archie's Pals & Gals #23 in decent condition. I have fairly high grade copies of both the US and Canadian price variants so I passed on it at first. I finally decided to get it. I had a bit of a surprise when I opened the package. Someone had scribbled "Autograph" on the backing board and what looked like "Dan" below that. First thing I did was open to the Josie story and was happy to find that Dan had autographed the book in 2000. Here's the cover and Josie page 1. No mention of Dan's autograph was made in the listing so this was definitely a pleasant surprise.
  4. In this case, the newer version has to be more risque because photobucket deleted the second image from my account and says it doesn't comply with their policy. I have no idea why.
  5. Here's another that follows the older > newer pattern:
  6. I'm not sure if it was a trend but a number of the repeat covers tend to be less GGA in their style. This one stayed about the same although Veronica's figure is emphasized a bit less in the repeat.
  7. They did it quite a bit in the late 50's and early 60's. Here's another example:
  8. I missed seeing that result! That's a tough book to find, much less in high grade but I've been surprised by prices on some of the Church copies lately. It seems to be the Millie related books in particular that are fetching the nosebleed prices. Wish I had bought several more of them when they were selling for $1,000 to $2,000 each.
  9. That's a really nice looking copy!
  10. There were a lot of Australian only covers. I think this is one of them. I know that there's no US equivalent of that Reggie cover although a similar picture frame joke was used on the cover of Laugh #60 but not in a beach scene. The artwork isn't usually consistent with the Archie house style.
  11. The issues I don't have are numbers 20, 29. 30. 35, 39, 40, 44-46, 48, 50, 53-56, 58, 59, 62, 73, 77, 81, 82. The format switches from 48 to 32 pages before issue 47 so the page count would help. In #52, the indicia is inside the front cover. In #57 it's on the first page so your issue is definitely lower than #57. It's most likely in one of the issues I'm missing in the 40's and 50's range of the series.
  12. I wish I could help on that issue but it doesn't appear that I have it. I have about 75% of the Wilbur books but not that one
  13. I think it's starting to do that. Not sure how high the price might go though. It's pretty scarce to begin with and even more so in higher grades. Plus it's from the Archie era when the cover inks can oxidize easily so the colors can degrade pretty badly if the book had been stored under unfavorable conditions. Red inks are the worst.
  14. Nice acquisition! That's one of my favorite early Millie covers.
  15. That’s a beauty! The early Jokers are interesting. Tessie looks different on each cover. It seemed like they hadn’t defined her look very well at the time.
  16. I love the painted covers as well. That looks like all of them as far as the humor books go. The Patsy Walker and the Georgie issues are my favorites. And of course Cindy!
  17. I've been scanning all of my golden age teen comics. In doing so, I keep getting reminded of all the nice Timely teen covers. While Patsy Walker was featured in Miss America magazine, Cindy was featured in Junior Miss. Some of the pre-1949 covers feature some very nice, pretty and detailed artwork and make full use of the cover space for greater visual impact. Here are some favorites of mine.
  18. I finally completed that run last year with #5. I always thought Dexter looks a bit more like an old man than a teen. He's got lots of lines in his face. #3 is my favorite cover of the series.
  19. I like the Ernie books. The artwork is great! Since there are only 4 issues and they're not that common, I suspect a lot of collectors just haven't seen them.
  20. That's actually #39 from June 1950. I went looking forward from #41 at first and didn't find it up to #55 so I headed backwards.
  21. Teena started in A-1 Comics. This is the best Teena cover. Probably because the cover features the backup character Honey rather than Teena.
