Picked up this thread around Feb 5th and this looks like first book posted in theme of "heating up." [in contrast to already high, or perhaps a bit higher] Not complaining, !, the conversation is on topic and there is plenty that's entertaining, but it's a comment that for around seven weeks, nobody saw a spike in a SA book worth posting here about.

I've never seen it before, but I've only seen around 20 copies (though hundreds of images online). Bought and sold a few in past couple of years but that's pretty meaningless w hundreds of thousands copies (what, half a million in circulation?). But I accept that many people know much more than I do, and appreciate the head's up - I'll keep eyes open for same defect on another copy.

Agree that it seems undergraded. Possibly that red streak down the last "s" was source of hammering - sometimes stains are overpenalized, in the estimation of many (at least based on what I've read here by members).

The handful I bought are based on a whim, pjlmk if me grabbing 94 or 108 e.g. was taking a book you need.

I'll check, the nicer copy if it doesn't have the white stripe along spine, otherwise your guess is perfect, the lower grade. I think they were all "b" but will double-chk. The small batch of Star Spangled WS's with dinos and pterodactyls I already have, is what this batch will join, I've no other war books except a Two Fisted or two, EC.

I've had a few Cockers over the years. And "takeit" for these 4: WWT 94 WWT 103 WWT 105 WWT 106 I think that gets me over the limit.

I've noticed and at times even been mildly irritated at what sometimes appears to be four lines of text listing every book, but imo don't think the 255 limit should be changed. I guess mainly because I'm biased against making rule/policy changes absent abuse. And I don't see the 'text wall' as abusive of sensibilities. And fyi, my last thread I titled simply "mostly Marvels" for most of its life, and I'm a true believer in brevity (though at the end I wussed out and added things like MCIC #3 !! and other hot titles).

The cover of #2 has the Romance vibe, but since that one they shifted nicely to the Macabre/War themes, w/maybe a touch of Horror. Very cool title that I don't know.

Plus, if we have a Prize Thread, contestants might decide to "throw" the grades on a few, to maybe get 4th place instead of 1st place for a chance at that golden age whatchamacallit item, so I guess that might be an issue.

How did you do it last time, Mike, are participants allowed to offer a prize (for 4th thru Xth place depending on how many prizes are contributed)? In the past editions of Green Eggs and Ham grading contest, we had a good time picking prizes in a separate thread, and the variety of contributions and diff't tastes even added an element of suspense and some surprise on occasion. Nobody was ever required to contribute a book to enter the contest, but it always turned out that many had something to throw in at least worthy of the cost of shipping, and occasional 'Uncle Pennybags' members would give a few items, so most/all got a chance to pick a 'prize.' [though on principle I'm not a participation trophy person, this always seemed different]

Missed the last one, but in for this one pls. It'll be weird w/o Andy and Shin, I guess c'est la vie.
