These signatures really make me shake my head
grebal replied to Jordysnordy's topic in Comics General
Hm, so you'd assume (as I do) that this defacement at bottom of splash was not in fact written by Steve Ditko? ; ) Well, not just because Ditko almost never signed his work, but more importantly because it doesn't even remotely resemble what his confirmed sigs look like? : D -
4.0. Maybe 3.5 because of the soiling spots.

The Grade is in --- Please Grade My FF 52
grebal replied to Morganmi's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
My guess is that cgc would give it a 7.5, but I've seen very few of this issue graded. As you said, Morganmi, the top edge, the tiny tear, and back cover top edge etc. It's a gorgeous copy! Congrats. -
I think it maxes out at 4.5 on account of the creases bottom right. Guess I'm low man for a change.
-
Same as Morganmi. A VG copy.
-
^Yeah, I was thinking 7.0, but fifty-fifty chance of 6.5 mainly because of that micro chip at top of spine.

PGM Amazing Spiderman 316------
grebal replied to Corallas's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Geez, rough crowd. I see a 9.4, unless as Mars76 noted, the bottom of spine on back shows a crease from a ding or a drop. -
Me too. Is there some kind of impact stress on back cover at bottom of spine ?

The Grade is In ...PGM The New Mutants 98
grebal replied to Stormyrys's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Smear looks like production defect, but I'm no expert on this book. Looks 9.4 to me. If points deducted for the smear, I'd estimate 9.2, it's not particularly obtrusive. -
Grade is in! PGM Marvel Premiere 15
grebal replied to Richardnobl3's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I'd guess 8.0. -
I think VF. That small wrinkle on back you mentioned, and what looks like a micro tear on spine at top staple keep it down.
-
Geeze Louise, not even a mention of Police Squad ?!

Had to buy a copy of this comic when I saw the cover (I think @DavidTheDavid was selling out his ECs, and he confirmed it for me). The cover just screamed at me that the comic included that Bradbury story 'Sound of Thunder.'

Grade is in....PGM X-Men #94
grebal replied to Richardnobl3's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Min 8.5. Would have to see in person to predict whether it would score higher by CGC. Super nice copy! Deducted for bit of spine wear, and slight wear at the open corners. -
Please grade this Fight Against Crime #13!

I think easy FN given the era. -
Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay
grebal replied to fastballspecial's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Supply still matters. But demand matters much more, agreed. -
Thanks all, for your input. Live and learn, I used glare on purpose because for the typical comic glare shots help reveal more, that a scan doesn’t show. Maybe it’s the non-gloss, or the black color that means pics with glare are worse? Anyway, shots with no gloss are easy. Thanks again. And note the bottom of back cover, rough edge and a missing chip. Changed the pics in second post.

Here's another non-comic that's tough to grade (like the Graphic Novels). Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks.
-
Here's one with tape and a rusted staple, though I don't know what else was wrong with it that isn't visible (bought it already slabbed).

Nice buy, would've taken it at three times as much. ; )
