  1. What happened, Buzz? The guy bail somehow?
  2. ^ It's disgusting from seller's pov. Pretty sure that only the SELLER can start the process, even when buyer is deadbeat - SELLER must send a request to cancel. Then buyer has 2 weeks (IIRC) to reply. One deadbeat BUYER sent me note - "I don't want to buy, please cancel it for me." And then I had to initiate the cancel process. Twisted, counter-intuitive, illogical, whatever, it's the ebay experience. But then you can't leave deadbeat note in the rep comment (still must be a pos, but you can describe that buyer is deadbeat). Or I suppose SELLER can wait a few days then start a 'dispute' that BUYER did not pay. I forget the tortuous route that one takes, but I think it's the only way a BUYER can accumulate record of being a non-payer bidder. [Anthony's art/comics sent me wrong ASM 10, then said he didn't have the right one to ship me, a disappointment to me, and I just went away (return/refund), stuff happens; sorry you got stuck with a dud, Dan.]
  3. ^ Jimmy, do you like gladiator movies? Just too friggin creepy.
  4. But even if you had an unopened book where the perforations would pop, once CGC did a page count that ship has sailed. I agree that it was probably an overreaction, but I too keep a sharp eye out for warning signs that a buyer could turn out to be (unreasonably) high maintenance, particularly for a small-medium book.
  5. Most excellent. My thanks. Also, completed a run thanks to Cheesefrog ! Well packaged and fast; no brainer to buy from him if he has something I want.
  6. Wow, a reason it would've been nice to be in Chicago last night. Congrats to the performers and participants - this looks like a great event and extremely cool thing to have joined in on. Excellent tunes played well and a good reason to get together.
  7. Or the book was just graded tight the first time around. Also, who submits the books has no bearing on the book. Impartiality is the fundamental key to certification being successful. Giving a gift to a 'friend' would take down a company's reputation and probably damage the market. Realistic as long as no humans and only Vulcans are doing the grading.
  8. On Wall St. they added a rule that requires stock analysts who recommend/comment on a stock to also disclose whether or not they own the stock. And we all know how honest wall street is. Heh.
  9. Yeah, he sold a ton of them all at once, super stud move. A bunch sold on ebay then listed a bunch that sold out here (maybe left w/ one, I forget). It cracked me up that he added a Q&A to one of the ebay listings- he got a question about whether the MVS was intact (note: they were all CGC blue label).
  10. Pretty sure 50 insurance included in priority mail price. But if you print/buy priority through ebay you get automatic insurance up to 100 (not just 50). That's the info I learned here.
  11. ^I think you're completely in the right. But ebay buyers can cancel with impunity so either cancel/relist or deal with the buyer who has shown warning-signs as probably high maintenance.
  12. Just one guy who had some real bad mis-information.
  13. For now I'll just hope that means at least a 6 pt. round (and not that we'd be better off hanging on a martha stewart cooking board).
  14. ^ Good point, but I didn't wait for an answer. This contest rocks. I can see the tension and fun rise as the tallies are posted.
  15. Understood, and agreed in full, it would be iffy at best (because e.g., where is the cutoff?). Thanks. : )
  16. Well, if this was the case, then most of the eBay results would be screened out as the large majority of comic related auctions on eBay appears to be done using BIB as opposed to the more traditional auction format. Thank you, Lou. However, I used the word "outlying" for a reason too. I am sincerely glad to get the info about CPA policy. Personally, I favor a healthy bid-ask spread to help further a liquid market. But I think omitting any kind of 'outlier' filter is a material limitation of GPA data fwiw (admittedly it would involve subjective metrics) that I'm glad to confirm.
  17. General question for those in the know - does GPA ever apply any kind of 'filter' to screen the suckers, er, I mean collectors, that pay the odd outlying price using BIN? [by which I mean selling at a price the vast majority of boardies would agree was out of whack]
  18. "Silence the She-Devil!" That little dummy guy in the basket was definitely creepy. Hilarious. I'm not even particularly a fan of Gothic, but I confess to first exposure to 70s re-runs on PBS of Dr Who under Hinchcliff show runner, and really like many of serials written by Holmes. Several are favorites along with popular ones like Caves. And until worn out with use, the Angels (first one) are VERY creepy for me too, that was home-run stuff.
  19. ^ Good choice for the new series. Hard to pick a single show, but always been partial to "Talons of Weng Chiang." Or if many-part isn't cheating, the 10 part Troughton "War Games" isn't as full of filler as a lot of the longer serials. Eccleston is my favorite of the nuWho. But it's really quite a different show, quite frenetic and a lot less mystery/plot driven.
  20. Only good things to say about recent transaction with igordesign23 - got the exact books described and shown, sent securely and very quickly, and at a nice reduction too. Thank you very much.
  21. You're so right, he bought them together and I didn't check closely enough, was focused on what's apparently a common bit of ink from rollers (I think) in the price/logo box under "Fights" and left of "CC" and just clicked back to see if any of the CM lot he also won was for sale yet. I *thought* the spine on his tonight's copy looked a lot worse than one I sold him, but I completely missed the obvious white stripe. D'oh! Anyway, he got a higher winning bid for the Doc 169 than he paid me and ebay for it, so he's doing something right.
  22. Sounds right, give or take 7200 quatloos or so. I just found a NY dealer flipping on ebay (ebay to ebay) a couple of books I sold to him in early June - minor keys Dr. Strange 169 and Ms. Marvel 1. Guess ebay makes out best from this e.g., but the fellow might see higher sale price than my less-viewed listings, or simply want a few minor keys as 'click-bait'. Sorta flattering I guess, selling to a dealer. ; ) my sale: http://www.ebay.com/itm/182160688850?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1561.l2649 his sale ending tonight (different user ID): http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-COMICS-MS-MARVEL-1-1977-KEY-1st-APPEARANCE-CAROL-DANVERS-HIGH-GRADE-/252444759563?hash=item3ac6e1560b:g:d9EAAOSwvg9XdWIS my sale: http://www.ebay.com/itm/182160696621?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1561.l2649 his: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-COMICS-DOCTOR-STRANGE-169-1968-SOLID-COPY-KEY-ORIGIN-DR-STRANGE-RE-TOLD-/252444654175?hash=item3ac6dfba5f:g:FqMAAOSwXeJXdUvD
