  1. Hey Mike, great book (VF/NM X-men silver age -pre-reprint) thank you so very much!! Greg
  2. Great transaction for several marvel silver age in high grades. Tight grading and made me very happy I visited his 'booth' in the VCC this June (was the highlight of my buying). Oh, and it didn't surprise that books were packaged securely, sent super fast, and Ed kept me up to date. Really super, man, thanks.
  3. Actually, it seems a 'commodity' (or collectible) like AF 15 where the largest market uses USD might be a good hedge again GBP devaluation. [As long as you're not selling to a Brit or eurolander of course.]
  4. When I sell I shoot for the highest standards in tight grading, secure and damage-proof shipping and quickness and clear comms, sometimes even freebies. Mr. Sneeze is better than I am; a real pleasure, solid on every bit of it. Nice books, thank you. I'd say A++ but it would sound too much like ebay puffery.
  5. ^ There are an incredible number available apparently, but the ones I've found are all priced prohibitively imo. A guy with a nice copy priced at 44k (IIRC) just traded down his AF15 on the Board Only Sales forum.
  6. Glad to hear it. I said I was out of the hunt for a lower end AF15, but then about a week ago took a shot up to around 8200 I think for a 2.0 on ebay and was third high bidder. So not sure if I'm out or in the hunt now, I'm equivocal, depending I guess on what else I see first. Good luck with your hunt & may your target be a better book than I want.
  7. Did you slap The Man in the head, or were his goons around?
  8. As a reference, I realized I have comparable copy of this book in 3.0 according to another unname-able Voldy company. Yours looks a bit nicer, but don't know status of the encased 3.0's staple color or attached status in/out. If that image is violation of rules just let me know and I'll delete this reply.
  9. You make another good point. I considered how I would feel if I bid on something only to find myself blocked. Like being banned/blocked from a forum, without any recourse or means to communicate or take corrective action . . . Would probably blow a gasket and shut down. Heh. But why bid on low grade Avengers lot and Hulk lot (and prices weren't even that high) and then just bail? So very frustrating - but I'll list them here later today and see how it goes, there are only like 4 lots (out of like 25, but with a failure rate like that NASA would've never left the ground), and I'll list some other nicer items. Maybe it'll be a blessing in disguise.
  10. That's true, too. I generally only bid via esnipe. You are correct about how useless it would be for me. But it would feel oh so much better to at least tell them (the deadbeats) how poorly I regard them.
  11. Understood. Thanks kav. I assumed it was because ebay valued the bidders (with $$) and had monopoly power over sellers. But thanks for the background - I understand tit-for-tat, that existed back then, but at least sellers had a tool (besides finding the CGC board for a valued list of past transgressors) for measuring which bidders to look out for. Now I have *no* means to warn future sellers that my two bidders change their mind after the auction is over. And little means of finding out myself in advance, so it sound like sensible answer is to bail on ebay or hit my head on wall and consider it's blessings. It's so bad- in fact I now have to *ask* these rotten little SOBs if I can cancel the transaction. And now wait 10 days for them to reply. Insanity, imo.
  12. Apparently a lot has changed in years since I last sold. You can no longer leave neg feedback for deadbeat winners. You can either leave positive, or send ebay a widdle note. Oh, poor widdle bidders changed their mind after winning and we can send ebay a note. Un-be-friggin-lievable ! I've just incorporated the entire list, and my two deadbeats to my "blocked" list, not that I think it likely that I'll list again, this deadbeat bull is the breaking point for me, I swallowed the fees and rest of the garbage, but to shaft me at the "end" means listing something on ebay may simply never end.
  13. Just got another two GA books, as described, and shipped promptly. Very glad for the books, Rick, thank you kindly. Greg
  14. IN the Mixed Ages and Misc. forum I bought from a guy, strangely, selling DVDs of Simpsons etc. His thread was not closed. But personally I'd stick to comic and comic related -which takes in a lot like TBP, graphic novels, books and poster MMMS memorabilia, buttons, membership kits, no prizes. [and I bought his set of first 10 seasons of Simpsons at a good price; the good ones, really, heh]
  15. ^ Awesome batch, congrats. I just sold a bunch of stuff w minor keys on ebay tonight, putting together a grail pool - now if I can just keep from digging into it repeatedly.
  16. ^ Hey, as you know, three weeks ago that would've made my mouth water. But I think I've moved onto other objectives, lost the bug for it at these lofty heights - not to say I think it will decrease in popularity, just would rather direct really big bucks at stuff that's more scarce over stuff that tends to be highly liquid like this grail. Offered 14,500 to the guy selling a CGC copy [4.5] for an estate here on the boards but he said he had PMs for about a thousand more. On the bright side, just got a nice slabbed 3.5 copy of FF #5 for under a thousand, not a steal, but glad to have that one checked off the list.
  17. First rate seller, comic was at least as good as described, grading was tight, shipping was ultra fast and very secure. Thank you very much for the ASM 16, hope to find you selling more that I could use.
  18. Rick, thanks for the great books (Science 6 and that Planet Comics with nice looking chick on the cover). Tomorrow when you close up your thread if I can't find anything else I'll pay for the new Planet I bought (this one also had a good looking girl on cover, go figure). Thanks for the great books. Guess my cap has now been raised from 50 to 100 for these GGA golden books. And would appreciate if you could give me a nod in my 'kudo' thread when you send out the second package to me. : ) Now it's near bottom of page 1, here is link: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9357555#Post9357555
  19. Hi Shark, me too, please. board name: grebal ebay name: grebal http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?item=182160805447&hash=item2a69a14e47%3Ag%3AUD8AAOSwzJ5XVO6s&_ssn=grebal&_sop=1 Couple of dozen auctions ending Sunday eve., several lots of runs are pretty substantially undergraded [e.g. the Doc 1-5 vol2, and the Fantastic Four 67] so you might find some bargains (but maybe not, anyway let's hope not too severe). A few keys as well graded a little more precisely (e.g. IM 55 and ASM 129). May eventually migrate to trying to sell again over here, particularly when I plan to list slabs, and after I've more current ebay sales to vouch for me.
  20. Very cool easy GD+. Possibly even a 3.0 (assuming staples are secure at the 4 points) but such major keys as this are generally well scrutinized.
  21. Looks at least GD plus to me. [2.5] Perhaps a 3.0, if it has a good day and depending how solid/tight it feels despite the two staple issues.
  22. Thank you for clarifying. My reply was talking to someone about ebay transaction, not CGC board transactions here (so if all sellers don't charge the 3% surcharge then bidders might fell at disadvantage to those paying cash). In general, the tax on credit card tranactions (3 % pay pal fee) seems reasonable if you are getting higher bids because people can charge stuff, at least that was the calculation I made a decade ago when it last mattered to me. But back then I offered discount for ebay winners who paid by check. I'm getting back into selling now, so it matters again, and the current prevailing attitude of bidders is always relevant - glad to see so many people with strongly held opinions about it.
  23. Real satisfying transaction. Shipped very securely, at very reasonable ship rate. Received book faster than expected. Amazing Spidey #6 was conservatively called a VG and was easily in that grade, probably a bit better. Very glad I found this board. [Well, so far anyway.]
  24. Hi, "grebal" is user ID on ebay (same as here) since 1999, with over 1000 auctions as seller (only translating to feedback score 460 or so, winners of multiple auctions only counted as one, then). Hope to be learning more and trading comics here for a while. Greg Bali gre bal
  25. The ebay policy is pretty clearly 'no surcharge for PP fees,' and ebay might go back to enforcing it, or only when someone reports the listing, or some combination depending on how prevalent it becomes. But the current policy pretty clearly has no problem with cash discount. But your point on buyer criteria is well taken. [if I adopt the policy I will omit from auction and only offer it at checkout, to avoid alienating potential bidders.]
