  1. Well, not really I am only a #20 from completing all the 1st apps of Ditko villains, not the complete 1-20 run. I still have a few others to get there but hopefully within a year or two. But I have the big ones, so thats something I guess I have as a goal to have the complete 1-10 by the end of the year (I need 7,8 and 10) and hopefully the rest of the 1-20 next year, while filling some smaller holes in the run. This takes me more time than I had estimated back in 2017 when I was planning my action plan, but it starts to feel at least as doable.
  2. I had been searching for a nice looking #15 in 7.5 - 8.0 for a while and I was kind of bummed when I did find my wanna-be copy in a Canadian site that wouldn't ship to Sweden. Luckily for me, Dave a.k.a. @DST is a totally awesome guy who went out of his way and ordered this for me, received it and sent it safely all over here. It is gestures like this that make the feeling of community meaningful. As I said about hundred of times already, thank you man and I owe you a big one This issue completes my set of the Sinister Six 1st appearances and brings me a step closer to the completion of all 1st appearances of Ditko villains (I am now in the market for a #20!). It also completes my "Summer of '64" Spidey set () that featured three pretty good books over three Summer months.
  3. I looked around, that's a great start and some really nice books. When I do a custom search for "amazing spider-man", I get 3 #300s, while I get at least the double of it when I browse through the "Marvel" category. Maybe you would like to check this up. Also, just as a suggestion, it would be good to have an "About us" and a "FAQ" section with some info about you or your company as well as about shipping, ordering etc. I saw that you have some info on the main page, but I would recommend some more details on both in a separate page. Good luck!
  4. Both are REALLY nice books. I love good looking VF-ish silver age Spideys!
  5. This is the coolest and most fun run to collect, if you ask me and many other collectors out there, so yes, you have a good taste Sir My humble opinion: Take your time and do some serious research about what all of these issues go for. Build a well structured word or Excel document, with grades and prices for each issue. Yes, it will take time - but if you are serious about a task like this, it will both need a lot of time and money. Set your longtime budget and based on that choose a pretty tight grade range that balances your funding and what you like condition-wise. Then try to stay consistent when you start picking books, and stay within that grade range. A consistent through out collection is both more challenging and fun to build, but also so much rewarding. Start with the bigger books. Those are the ones that they will most probably go up fast and you will regret it later on if you keep the biggest ones for the end. Consider going for a #1 as well. If you get all these, you WILL need a #1 as well. Check out the "Amazing Spider-Man Collecting thread" in the Silver Age section here on the boards. It's a great source of knowledge and mostly inspiration. Good luck with your quest!
  6. I have been going through the issues that I still need for my run and came to realise that #11 is not less pricey than some of the single-digit issues. So I wonder: why is it priced as high as it is? I mean I get that it is an early Ditko issue, 2nd Dr Ock and anyone who goes for a Ditko (or more extended) run needs it. Was it a lower print run? Or is it the partly black spine that makes it tough in mid - higher grades? Or something else that I miss?
  7. Amazing set-up. Nowhere close to yours, but I do have some comic related stuff in a corner of my office too. I work mainly with young adults, and most of my patients really appreciate this and they are often a really effective ice breaker.
  8. Thanks for the enjoyable report Is there actually a UK con that is worth visiting nowadays? I travelled all the way from Sweden just to attend the LSCC, I think 3 years ago. I wasn't disappointed, despite picking up only two books from Bob Storms that I had pre-ordered. It probably costed less to come by and pick them up however, than it would cost to have them shipped and pay the import taxes. Metropolis and Heritage was also present, as well as other UK dealers, so I would say that there was a good bunch of comics. The Stockholm Comic Con is huge, but honestly there is bigger chance I find comics in the trash on my way to work than there.
  9. No, this is in no way a valid reason to return a book and get a refund. As others have already mentioned, if this is the current owner's main concern, then he or she should contact CGC and it is really easy to resolve. He just needs to provide a current photo of the slab. I have done this a couple of times and it is just a matter of a couple of hours to get resolved. Not that I would ask to return the book, even if it wasn't.
  10. I am pretty new to the hobby, but my understanding is that this has been extensively done for years. Many years.
  11. This photo - and the story behind it - warms my heart. And boy, Spideys sell fast. Beautiful books, congrats to all the buyers (and the seller of course).
  12. You guys in the US will never understand the struggle of trying to build an ASM run, while living in Europe. I just had this beauty delivered however within 2-3 days, before living San Francisco and get back to the old good fun of waiting 2-3 weeks for the books to arrive. Thank you @Straw-Man !
  13. I only arrange shipping to hotels when I am visiting the US. It saves me some shipping costs and mostly the hustle of dealing with customs. And it makes especially sense when buying some lower $ books.
  14. Yes, I have done it a few times - never had a problem. C-Link was excellent working with me on this.
  15. Spidey madness! @Straw-Man These are some real real beautiful book there! I had my self a small package waiting for me when I checked in at my hotel in SF today. All of them from C-Link.
  16. What a book! Congrats Here is my copy. Grabbed it about a year ago from eBay. My younger daughter's favourite book after watching the spider-verse movie.
  17. Taking everything in consideration, I think it actually makes sense. Yes, not a first appearance, but: 1st issue of the most iconic (and most collected) run ever published (everyone who collects Spider-Man wants it and then many many more). Published just a few months after the first appearance (and only the second appearance). Published pre-1964 (the time frame that many collectors consider to be the point when collecting became "a thing") Iconic cover (some collectors don't like it, but iconic nevertheless) High status book (who doesn't want to say that they own the first issue of Spider-Man?) AF15 prices have raised out of reach for the vast majority of collectors, so it is the next best thing for Spider-Man collecting. I think it was undervalued for a long long time and I personally don't see it coming down to previous prices any time soon.
  18. #66 has the nicest Mysterio cover of the run in my opinion. I love it and actually have my copy often displayed. Which issues didn't reach the 9.0 threshold? Sounds like they would be perfect for someone who collects 7.5 - 8.5s
  19. The answer is in the link you provided . Looks like a nice story (and obviously inspired by ASM 248).
  20. Good job! These are all some amazing books and I too value the consistency. I do however give me the space of one whole grade range for my graded silver age Spidey run (7.5 - 8.5). Issue 24 is one of my favourite SA issues. Both the cover but mostly the story - its cool, entertaining and a tad psychedelic. I still haven't got around to add a nice copy to my run though!
  21. I don't care about signed books, so for my part Erik Larsen can find whatever excuse he wants to charge $100 for a signature. BUT... If CGC or any other reputable company offering comparable services didn't exist, a lot of collectors including me (living out of the US) would probably never be able to build a collection of higher end books, mainly due to two issues (in order of significance in my opinion): The lack of restoration detection The lack of a widely - globally accepted grading. Still subjective, yes, but widely accepted among collectors. I don't feel the urge to read my more valuable books. I have already read them in reprints. But if I did, nobody would stop me from cracking them out of the slab. I really wonder if those who don't get the whole CGC thing, would be willing to pay $40K for a raw AF15 that may or may not be restored, and MAYBE a 4.0 (but who knows, it could also be a 3.0 because "I am not a professional grader, please see the pictures and judge by yourself").
