  1. Back in 2004 My first submission was for GSX # 1 along with Hulk 181 that I bought off the racks from the stationary store near the N-Train Subway in Brooklyn. Both books received 5.0 grades. Well read when I was 10 years old LOL. Still have them today along with the carbon copy return receipt from CGC as there were no internet forms or show dropoffs. Grader notes did not exist then as far as I can remember. I had CGC look them up and they emailed me the notes. Probably could upgrade with a press and clean but I think that they are very content in their original slab. My 11 year old has no interest in comics (ugh) but he will be very happy one day because they will go to him.
  2. One of the best. A true American hero and Icon. Always stopped to talk to and get his signature at the shows. A true Gentleman.Thank for your service to America and your great work in comics. Rest in Peace Mr. Sinnott -You will be missed!
  3. They were so similar and I figured I had to send it to you. The location is Beach 91 street between Beach Channel Drive and Rockaway Freeway in the shadows of the A-Line train trestle. There is a huge abandoned bank on the corner . Surely felt like an Andru Spidey scene to me. I will keep on the lookout
  4. I found these houses in Rockaway. They are two houses attached .
  5. OK- So House of X will be going on sale next week. If I wanted to purchase one copy of variants A-J for cover price the cost would be $132.90. From there it gets even crazier Variants K-P will cost a whopping $1,130. So a total of $1,262.90 will get you variants A-P. Who does that? Completely ridiculous!! I am a big X-Men fan and have been looking forward to this story line but I have to admit I am so sick of the variants that I almost want to boycott the hobby that I have loved for over 40 years. That being said- as stated earlier - I will choose 1 or 2 covers and read the story and move on. To me True Believers is the best thing Marvel has done in years. I really enjoy reading the older stories and they cost a buck. Best of all no variants........ yet
  6. To me its a money grab.If your looking to make money then you have to buy them all. Then go broke. I pick one or 2 covers that I like and then read and stash them.
  7. Anything and everything by Jack the King Kirby. Specifically avengers # 4, Tales to astonish- Hulk run- His Thor , Captain America and FF books just bring me back to my childhood. I started buying comics off the rack in 1975 and obtained runs of Machine Man, Devil Dinosaur , Eternals etc.. Not because I knew who he was at the but because the covers leaped out at me. Anytime I saw his older books at a comic store on the wall or at a show I knew I had to have them . I chased the older books and still have them today. They are true treasures that bring me back. As a collector they priceless - not because of monetary value but the fond memories they evoke in me!
  8. I will give this a 4.5-5.0 based on the pressure tear and staining. Otherwise it presents far better than that.
  9. Reluctantly graded a copy last year and it came back a 4.0. Was going to sell it then but sentimentality made me hold on to it. Right now I am glad I did. My 6.0 that I graded in 2003 may need to be removed from that dingy old case, pressed and regraded. A bump would be nice!
  10. Dropped off 75 modern books at the Big apple comic Con in March for a QP and Grade. 25 are scheduled for grading. The rest are still received. You can never assume the TOT is correct as they always fluctuate. My buddy dropped off some books with me the same show with same grading tiers and QP. A few of his subs have been graded and shipped already. My last few subs were the opposite - my books were returned long before my friend and we dropped them off at the same show. At least I get to hear about his grades . Oh well- I'm in no rush and as Tom Petty says "The waiting is the hardest part".
  11. Call Charles at Hotflips.com. Good Guy and great supplies. I use these all the time-They are perfect and can be carried in a backpack.
  12. Thanks for the image! Long Live the King. Not only is he my comic book hero I revere his service to our country in the war. They don't make them like that anymore. Life was not easy for the Mr. Kirby!!! My father served in the South Pacific and he is my true hero. I love the chalk hopscotch board beneath his feet. I have fond memories of playing that as a kid on the streets of Brooklyn then reading Kirby Classics. I knew he was great as a 10 year old boy . 42 years has passed and I am even more captivated by his artwork and stories .Kirby comics take me from reality to a wonderful fond place. Truly the greatest and missed by many!!!!
  13. I saw that also. Definitely left me scratching my head and also fantasizing about being the buyer at that price. It was sold from the Russian Federation. Could be collusion. Congress should investigate.🙄
  14. That's interesting. These books were probably one of the most printed books of all time but I have noticed an uptick in price on graded 9.8 copies on eBay. Just wish mine did not have that indent.
  15. For some reason I have more of the other covers also hence the reason I pulled the Magnetos and was disappointed to find this defect on the back cover of most of them. Every other cover does not have it and believe me I have many.
  16. Ugh - just hopefully optimistic but reality is what it is
  17. It seems that there is something with the Magneto cover. Go collect.com assigns it a FMV of 75 in 9.8 while all the other covers FMV is 45-55????
  18. Thanks I appreciate your comments I agree with your suggestions. Out of curiosity I plan on slipping one in on a regular submission. Will probably do a pre screen with some others. Not really obsessing with these was just kind of hopeful someone would tell me that this gets overlooked. LOL . If the advice I received from you and others here and my suspicions are correct they will get dinged.
  19. The damage seems to be from a printing / manufacturing issue rather than storage or shipping. It appears that the indent is raised from the inside of the cover to the outside. Some show as slightly raised and others actually tear through. Maybe when the cover was printed there was something wrong with the machinery that did this? I was hoping someone else has noticed this or had some info on what caused it? I have sent pictures of some of them and I have more. It's a bummer to see this as I have bagged and boarded these since day one.
  20. Thanks guys. I may try contacting a CGC grader to see if I can get some info. Kobalt yours clearly does not have it. Thanks for the pic.
