  4. Hello, The Comic Art Factory gallery is not just a cool website anymore. We're now also a brick-and-mortar gallery, located in the heart of Brussels (Belgium). Our second art show is about Gilbert Shelton (USA) and his Freak Brothers. At 77 years old, Shelton is a living legend, pioneer of the underground comics. We filmed an interview of Gilbert that you can see here, where you will also discover dozens of pages and illustrations of the Freak Brothers, Fat Freddy's cat, and Wonder Warthog. Don’t hesitate to drop us an email if you're interested or have any question. And feel free to subscribe to our newsletter.
  5. Dear Visarspike, I nearly choked myself while reading your post. How do you even dare comment on this topic when as recently as May 2017, you tried to flip art on CAF that you hadn't bought yet from the actual owner of the art ? You bought one piece from him and immediately put it for resale on CAF. But you added many other pages on your sale list that didn't belonged to you. CAF was alerted and you had to remove those pieces that you were selling without agreement of the actual owner. Just trying to flip without ever owning the pieces. This is despicable. Also, you changed your aliases on CAF and on french chat boards multiple times these past few years. You don't do that so often when you act like a gentleman. Only when you've been burned by many other collectors. All details about your actions here ; https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/415782-message-from-romain-someone-is-selling-my-art-on-caf/ Have a very nice day.
  6. I wille be there and exhibiting for the very first time at this convention.
  7. Sorry Mike, but I have very strong issues with your statement. First of all, I can't even understand how you can disclose the details of a private transaction on a public forum. You're a professionnal art dealer ! Even if it didn't go all the way, I really don't think any collector would appreciate that... People can choose the way they want to sell their art and have details kept private. Secondly, and this is much more important, concerns the way you now consider the piece and discuss it on a public forum, after it escaped you. As you were one of the previous owner of the piece, you know it really well, and have looked at it for some time. Not so long ago, you still liked it so much you were ready to buy it back for a strong price. But now, suddenly, because there was no agreement on your proposal, and the art is being auctioned, you decide to lower the value of this particular piece on a public forum. By insisting on the "not so good-looking" background characters. The same ones which are a major part of the piece you loved so much a few months ago. And that you owned many years ago. And please do respect our intelligence, and don't even dare to say it's a casual conversation, cause it's not. You're a major buyer, bidder, and underbidder, and you know the game. The way you just acted is what some people do when they want to scare away the competition. Even if that's not the case here, that's far from elegant. And also unprofessionnal. I would expect much more from a collector with so many years of experience, and can't accept that from a dealer. I don't know how any collector reading that would not have major trust issues when thinking about future deals.
  8. One of the best deal ever on ebay. A gorgeous Peanuts sunday (with all the gang) and 4 weekly strips from 1958, for a total of 25.000 USD. Sold the 14th of October The Sunday is already up for auction on Heritage, set for the 22-24 February, and displayed on the cover on their last mailing
  9. Regarding the Sean Murphy issues, it's becoming more and more of a sad joke. Hoping to get, or even ask, the same rate than Greg Capullo who had proved during many years on a Batman series he was a very strong and persistent artist in terms of storytelling and respecting deadlines, and managed with Scott Snyder to keep their Batman series in the Top 3 of sales all the time...and succeeded in telling very interesting stories, that's not only a delusion of grandeur, that's being an immature person. Comparing himself to Frank Miller before to have published a single issue of his series, that's too laughable to even be commented. Now, when checking the immature dialogues from "Batman White Knight", the lack of real storytelling, the awfully poor character design of batman's rogue gallery at the end of issue 2, that's another story. And I must say I laughed when I read the last pages of issue 2 with the Mad Hatter/Clayface explanation for general mind control. I was already raising eyebrows when the Joker explained in the first issue why he was raiding the factory. And isn't there anyone who feels the TV interview of issue 2 lack any sense of writer's charisma ? This is not even a bad copy of the ones Miller Did, it's just flat. I have followed Murphy's work for 5 years, and really enjoyed it. Even collected art from the Wake and especially Tokyo Ghost. More than 10 pages in total. and I was very passionate about his work. So seeing this happening is painful in some way. But as soon as I read his first tweet comparing himself to Frank Miller and explaining he was gonna keep the best pages of the book (many months before it was even published), I knew that some frog wanted to be a cow. Sadly, I can't find one single page from the two first issues of "Batman White Knight", who could have the intensity and the quality of storytelling found in Tokyo Ghost or Joe the barbarian. That's when you know for sure the writers of these books greatly help the narration. I can't even comprehend how the DC editor of this book allowed Sean Murphy to publish it as it is. And I'm baffled by the way CBR and other websites seem to enjoy the book. I've seen them much more lucid that that for most of the books they review.
  10. Congrats on the winner of the V for Vendetta page. A favourite of mine. Great storytelling. Superb use of shadows.
  11. Stathis Tsemberlidis'art is now available. http://www.comicartfactory.com/stathis-tsemberlidis
  12. Hello, The Comic Art Factory gallery is glad to present you a new artist : Stathis Tsemberlidis. His work has been published by Decadence, and more recently by Image for the sixteenth issue of the « Zero » series. His artwork is a psychedelic exploration of non linear narratives, while his stories trip between spacemen, vast landscapes and crystalline shapes acting as portals and vehicles for extra-planetary inner exploration. His pen work is quite restless. Check the trailer on the Comic Art Factory website His art, already displayed, will be offered for sale on Tuesday the 5th of December. Don’t hesitate to drop us an email if you're interested or have any question.
  13. A Gorgeous Alex Toth pin up has just been added to my Caf gallery. Enjoy.
  14. Heroes Comic Con starts this Friday in Madrid. If you're around, I will be exhibiting at booth G18. I'm bringing a lot of RM Guera art (Scalped, Goddamned, Django,), and some Marvel and DC art, which is not on my website. See you there.
  15. The thing is, it's not because someone believes it's legit, that it makes it legit. On this drawing the ear, the cheek, and he eyes are quite awful. And I don't understand how anyone can go for a drawing without knowing if it's a fake or not...Really. The last few months there has been an incredible amount of fakes on ebay US, many of hem coming from East Europe from the same seller over and over again, who does really bad forgeries every week. Fake Peyo, Morris, Uderzo, Moebius. All major european artists and these went cheap as they were awful forgeries. . There are also a lot of fake art on ebay France or Italy. You should really consider the market before spending any dollar. Good luck.
  16. Just be aware there are a lot of fakes on the market for the following european artists : Rob Vel, Franquin, JeanGiraud/Moebius, and of course Uderzo (asterix sketches especially). I would really advise to avoid all that, as some sold on auctions were fakes too.
  17. I'm more than surprised by this way of doing business. and I disagree on so many things mentioned here. Talking about strategy, really ? Even the price multiplication factor. And I love Sean Murphy's work. I've enjoyed it since Joe the Barbarian went out. And collected his art since then. First of all, not so many people were invited to this 'private auction". Not going into details, but I don't see any rep action here, as nearly all previous buyers of Sean Murphy art did not know about an auction (and some of them bought a lot when he was repped by Essential Sequential), mostly based on a very recent pool of buyers. Some people who just bought a 300 USD page through his actual website got an invite while people having bought covers in the past didn't even know about the event. But even considering this flaw, with the word of mouth among collectors, it should have been way more people there actively looking to buy. But who's interested in silent auctions for a book just released ? I see absolutely no marketing there. No long-term vision. No thinking ahead. Just fast cash. This is not the way of consolidating trust and business with previous customers. Just making a buzz by putting people vs one another. And losing people interested in his art by setting abusive prices. Sorry, but sometimes the ego is your enemy. You could felt on many Twitter posts that something went wrong when comparing to Miller before even releasing a single issue. And for buyers too, ego can be your worst enemy. In my opinion, this is not the way to build. This is just gambling. This is a house of cards. Taking a chance to cut yourself from your previous customer base. Who could very possibly lose interest in the art and put it back on the market as they will not be able to buy further pages, or just wait for new customers to offer aggressive prices. This is not strategy at all.
  18. also, be aware that some inked covers are inked over a blueline copy or Mike's original pencils.
  19. Anyone going to the London comic Con next week ?
