  1. All scams https://www.ebay.com/itm/antique-lot-of-gi-joe-toys-Vintage-1983-Rare-Collection-Collectable-Hasbro-Cobra-/203829521751?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 https://www.ebay.com/itm/AFA-80-OMEGA-SUPREME-G1-TRANSFORMERS-VINTAGE-RARE-RETRO-MISB-SEALED-TOY-85-90-3D-/175154263887?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 https://www.ebay.com/itm/AFA-85-JETFIRE-G1-TRANSFORMERS-MISB-RARE-RETRO-VINTAGE-SEALED-MOSC-HASBRO-TOY-90-/203829521598?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 etc, etc, etc all taken from “sellers other items”
  2. Posted in the “plastic crack” thread but I’ve seen similar postings in other auctions for collectibles and brought it up in a couple of other threads here on the boards. These are hacked accounts where an established seller with a substantial reputation is/are used to get you to contact them outside of eBay where they can steal your money or payment information. Since a few of the members here have already been burned recently, I thought I’d share in order to bring awareness to hobbyists in all categories of collectibles. Report these posts immediately if you run into them and let’s keep each other safe from these
  3. If you see this photo in the description of any eBay auctions, report it immediately. It’s scammers using hacked accounts to list items in just about any category imaginable. Spotted it in vintage action figures but have also seen it in other categories I follow.
  4. May accept partial cash/trade on books listed boardies in good standing only. Details can be worked out via pm
  5. Nice. Have you considered a “Fugitive” Dr. Kimble too? I think a custom figure wouldn’t be too hard to come up with from those sculpts.
  6. About to jump into the newer GI Joe stuff myself and I’m really liking the pricey Sideshow figures but willing to take a step down for the ThreeZero 12” figures for a few of them. Any feedback on the comparisons? I’m about to pull the trigger on a few figures before the month ends including Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and the Crimson Cobra Commander to stand side by side with some of the vintage stuff.
  7. More than likely, your original account was hacked and used to list items that were reported. This results in the account being shut down by eBay when multiple listings have been reported. Those that tend to report items are longtime users that recognize scam listings immediately in an effort to nip a problem seller in the bud. High feedback sellers tend to slip by long enough for a scammer to cash in on bogus sales due to the reputation/history of the hacked account making them more appealing than a 0- low feedback or new account to scammers looking to take advantage of buyers. I pointed this out to another boardie in a different thread but it’s been going on for a few years. They may have gotten your account info through a spoof email so be mindful of e-mail links or pages asking for log in info. The legit sites will have a padlock in the address bar.
  8. Finally got the Broly figure I wanted. Saw a few other DBZ characters I may want to add later.
  9. It’s a scam to get you to “buy” it outside of eBay by contacting the seller. I see similar posts for rare audio equipment all the time and just report it. Done correctly, the auction disappears and the account is shut down
  10. I think I scrutinize books a bit closer nowadays but I’ll still get a lower grade book if it satisfies my own eye appeal. Tape on covers will always be a for me though
  11. I misplaced a copy of Peter Parker the Spectacular Spiderman #27 about 7 years ago and have no clue why I never stuffed it into one of my short boxes, I vaguely remember placing it inside a stack of hard cover books (for whatever reason) but I’ve put those back on the shelves ages ago and still nothing poof
  12. Started adding the DBZ figures to the collection. There’s an Evil Majin Buu and a Brolly I’ve got my eyes on next but for now…
  13. I have a few of these “mucking about” myself. Mego put out the greatest toys in the 70s. As a side note, my Red Hulk showed up today and I also picked up a High Evolutionary because “why not?”.
  14. X-Men #101 1st appearance of Phoenix VF ; back cover would benefit greatly from a c&p if that’s your thing SOLD!
  15. Marvel Spotlight #28 1st solo Moon Knight VF+ $450
  16. Same happened to me this past summer. Got the “Sorry, you missed out on this item” message only to see the “pay now” message later that day when I logged back in to check on another auction I was watching
  17. Love his cover to Iron Man 126; can’t remember how many times I tried to copy it. Once he took over the pencilling from Paul Smith on the X-Men, I thought he’d suffered a head injury. The style has evolved a bit but there’s really nothing he’s done since that’s made me want to add to my pc. Skaar probably has the most potential to become a major character but it would take spectacular writing before the artwork would have any impact
  18. Although I used to buy comics in the 70s, I didn’t consider myself a “collector” until the early 80s when I started to seek out specific books. Up to that point, one could always see the house ads to know what to look forward to but finding back issues would be tough unless you had an lcs (which was rare), knew other “collectors” or knew of an upcoming convention. Marvel and DC had their way of pointing out what back issue you needed to read with either an asterisk in a word balloon when a past event was pointed out or in the letters section (Ask the Answer Man). The 80s made it a bit easier when fanzines like Amazing Heroes and Comic Collector started popping up at a more abundant amount of comic shops and magazine stands with more shops offering mail orders in paid ads. 90s changed things when collectors started looking at books as an investment, which imo was neither a good nor bad thing but a product of increased popularity. Just my personal take.
